When new cars sales are so bad that they have NO CHOICE but to put more realistic prices on these vehicles, Maybe they will realize very quickly that shit like a fucking heated steering wheel as an option for a vehicle sold in Florida or even the southern half of the US is just fucking stupid. Actually, it is a stupid option for ANY vehicle sold ANYWHERE except above the arctic circle in places like Northern Alaska and Siberia.

Went to the dealership about a year ago, just to look for a Tacoma and the salesman were not the best and the payments were waaayyy to high for a midsize truck. Last week I bought a 2001 Toyota Tacoma V6 4WD for $10,000 cash in hand with just under 197,000 miles. I drove it 526 miles home with no issues. The older gentleman that sold it to me was very pleasant and you can tell took very good care of his truck. He even still had the original keys, manual/pamphlets, original invoice showing what he paid for it as well as the original window sticker, which I thought was really cool. I don’t think I ever want to go to a “stealership” ever again😂 And the best part, NO CAR PAYMENTS!

We are paying for the privilege of being spied on, tracked, marketed to, told how to drive, regulated, lojac'ed, licensed to use as opposed to actual ownership and last but not least, financed to death until death do us part. Perpetual payments for not so perpetual junk. Insurance prices through the roof. Maintenance and upkeep on the rise, hidden maintenance milestones with huge pricetags, trucks and transmissions that won't go the distance, V8/V4 mode that no one wants, start/stop systems that are constantly being disabled, expensive glass panels as opposed to switches and easily learned tactile switches that stay in the same place every time you get in the truck. The list grows by the hour. Connect your phone and Onstar downloads all your texts, read the fine print. Your insurance company knows everytime you pull off the road to take a leak, a dump or just to get a crappy sandwich and a Coke. The only way this stops is if you say no. Quit buying this stuff and the chain breaks, keep on buying and it tightens like a noose around your neck until you choke.

I bought a brand new Tundra in 2007 for $41k, I put 285k miles on it and drove it until it wore out and wasn't worth fixing anymore, I limped into the dealership with the 2007 and drove away with the 2024. I looked at Ford, Ram, GMC, all were at least $10k more similarly equipped.

Dealers tell you all the time that adding lifts, wheels, tires, etc. doesn't increase the value of your vehicle, but when they do it somehow it adds $35k to the price. You can even buy one that the dealer did all that to and try to trade it in to the very same dealer and they'll still tell you that. That crap isn't even worth the current $10k over msrp that they want. You can get all that done for half that on your own and the parts will be better quality. That truck should be discounted to $50k by now because there aren't anymore factory/dealer incentives for people to buy that truck. It costs less to get a new one.
