Buffy and Angels romance is more tragic than Romeo and Juliet famous tragic romance because at least Romeo and Juliet got to be together up until they died but Angel and Buffy have to stay away from each because of their calling as heroes and because of Angel's vampirism/ soul and unless Angel finds a way to truly cure his vampirism and get the redemption he desperately desires he'll (literally) forever be tied down to his destiny as a hero and can never reunite with Buffy making this even more heartbreaking 😭💔
Romeo and Juliet were just horny. That romance is bullshit. It starts out with Romeo being a drama queen over breaking up with his gf then he sees Juliet and immediately forgets aboyt her.
Not quite like Romeo and Juliet, more like Tristan and Isolde. At any rate, Angel will always choose the path that is hard; that's what makes him a great character.
On the long list of times SMG crying seemingly coincided with an invisible ghost cutting onions in my living room, this _might_ be at the top - not just the grief for what she was about to lose but her desperation to avoid it. Hits the feels, every time.
The chemistry between David Boreanaz was undeniable. To this day SMG says working with Boreanaz was one of the best experiences of her career. When she won a teen choice award after season 3 she even shouted him out and called him her Angel in her speech.
In the last scene Sarah Sarah wasn't acting, she was crying seriously and in fact Borenaz at one point calls her by name and not "Buffy" to reassure her. We will remember Bangel forever
My favorite episode of the whole Angel show. To me whatever happens, in both shows, whatever the experiences and relationships they might have, it will always be "Buffy & Angel", pure love.
4 years. I waited 4 years when this show aired to this moment to see them together and it ended up being the most painful moment of my young existence, on the plus side I did learn that there is no such thing as perfect love
This was a real 'heartbreaker' of an episode. Great writing again, but the writers know how torture the viewers. Brilliant acting by both SMG and David Boreanaz at the end of the episode similar to BTVS SE E10 Amends at the end where Angel is trying to kill himself after being mentally tortured by The First Evil. This acting here is so intense he actually whispers and calls her Sarah, oh and keep those tissues handy for this show! We all thought this episode was heartbreaking, but then! Great reaction again, having seen both show many times I have to to say the very best episodes are Angel are just off the charts.
Hey Dakrya! 👋 Cry Bobby here! I feel your pain, believe me. Unfortunately, Buffy and Angel have only begun to kill us through the process of slow dehydration. But what a way to go!😭😭😭😭
If Buffy remembered, it'd screw up her ability to move on with her life. She'd know that there's a way she and Angel can be together- they'd just need to find another Morra demon. Her mind would linger on that. She'd torture herself with that possibility. Angel, on the other hand, is doomed to suffer anyway.
kind of like the gem of Amara. The show throws in moral choices that the characters have to make. Angel is the most selfless because he always looks at the bigger picture, might be the wisdom that comes from living for so long?
Perhaps the hardest question in the Buffyverse is, who shreds your heart more violently in sad scenes - Buffy or Willow? They are both FAR too good at it, and it hurts.
Every. Single. Happy expression had me counting down until we see Dakrya. 8 minutes in and the speculation of how this will work... Knowing how hard it STILL hits me (I cry every time I watch this episode) but giggling as you go through the same thing everyone else did. The writers must have had so much fun on this one, and David and Sarah knock it out of the park.
It's cruel that Buffy won't get to remember their day together with Angel as a human, but I think it would also be cruel for her to know. We saw how gutted she was just knowing for a moment, what she was going to lose all over again. (You are so right, Sarah Michelle Gellar is an amazing cryer. She KILLS me when she says, "I heard your heart beat.") 💔So perhaps it helps soften things, for her to not have to carry that extra pain. Having it taken away is a weight she won't have to carry, not like Angel will have to. Either way, it's brutal. This one brings out the Dakrya in all of us, I promise you. It's such a beautiful episode, though! They're really amazing together, and Angel's hilarious with his hating yogurt (lol) and loving chocolate and peanut butter and complaining when he starts to feel the usual human aches and pains. Heeee.
This was such a hard episode to experience. They got to live out their happily ever after & as soon as they have it it's gone just like that with only Angel to carry the memories of what he could have had. Also, with all the pain that came from this episode the one silver lining we got was David Boreanaz without clothes & no amount of memory wiping from The Powers That Be can take away.
He's a champion. You'll learn as the story progresses, that Angel was directionless, sort of. The drive to become somebody was there, it just got twisted when he was made a vampire. When he was "cursed" with a soul that drive was still there, it just had nowhere to go, until the "powers" gave him a mission. Now he's his own person., following a path that he chose.
This épisode was so cruel. Cordelia was right "You can't have Angel and save the World"....😭 Angel and Buffy who were finally able to make love made you hot😂 Hearbreaking épisode for Bangel fans But damn, David And Sarah chemistry was insane, incredible, beautiful And incomparable ❤
I love how Buffy could feel Angel even when she couldn't see him, she turned to the doorway before he walked through & she kept looking out the windows on BtVS when he was around. The onscreen chemistry between them is amazing & both Sarah & David nailed every moment of it. I honestly don't care about who characters date & relationship drama on TV, it just makes me bored, but I actually got pulled in the first time I saw this episode & felt sad at the end of this episode. I think it's best that Buffy doesn't remember, as she's kind of moving on with her life, so she can go on feeling like she said goodbye now. Angel, well, on one hand he has the memories, on the other he has the memories. Remembering being with Buffy, & damn, how food tastes & not being able to again. With Buffy, well last time he woke up next to her it was a moment of perfect happiness so losing it & knowing it never really happened. Another reason to brood in the dark I guess.
This one never not hurts... The thing is, if this episode had been a Buffy episode in season 3, or season 4 if the Angel show hadn't started yet, we could have thought it was finally happening, but because this show has just started, we know something is gonna go wrong, there's no way they can stay together, and no way Angel can stay human.
Oh gosh. Here we go. Again. Will I ever not cry to this episode? NO 😭. Remember, that the demon inside him (the vampire) was the one that got cursed, not the human. Cuz the the demon was wild and on a killing spree and the Gypsies cursed that demon to stop it from killing anymore innocent lives. Loved your reaction when you saw Buffy stop by Angel Investigations. Crossovers are the best. Back then, there were no such things as spoilers. When an episode ended, you would have to stay put because they would show a clip of the next episode right after and that's what made the viewers stick around and continue watching the show. And if you missed the episode or next week's clip, a friend would fill you in the next day at school lol. But if you had no friends who watched the show, then you would wait til next week and pay really close attention to the dialogue to find out what happened previously. Later on they got diabolical and didn't even air next episode's clip lol. I remember getting pissed about that. Usually it meant there was no episode next week. Oh the times.
Great reaction to probably the best ep in the early part of S1! And a cruelly tragic one at that as we finally get to see the ship like most hoped for only to realize that even this "ideal" occurrence was not meant to be as the cost of their happiness would be too much for them to pay... and sadly we get the tragedy of TPtB rolling back the day, and in the final minutes we get a powerhouse performance by SMG as she pleads one last time to hold onto the moment or at least the memories of one perfect day only to have Whedon and the writers yank that away.... 😭😭 great guess btw that you got that time would be reversed, but the ultimate tragedy was that Angel finally gets to experience his curse free moment of true happiness only to have it turn against him and he'd have to make a choice to do so for the greater good, and would have to remember it forever.... tragic..... It's at this point where the show definitely feels like it's beginning to hit it's stride for S1 and I can't wait to watch you discover it! A well earned CTU for you today, D.... Keep em coming!
Well, at least we know now one way to turn an vampire back into a human, since this wouldn't be the only demon of this kind. Do you think it would happen again one day? It's an interesting question what would have happened if Buffy was chosen to remember instead of Angel, if she has to decide again about their relationship, like in 2x22 of her show. It would have been fair if both would remember it, but probably Angel knowing that Buffy knows would then feel like a moment of true happiness and we know what what would happen then.
I think I've said this to you previously, I know I have on someone's reactions. When one is bitten by a Vampire and survives that creates a bond between the two. So yes Buffy will always be able to sense when Angel is near if she is not preoccupied like say in combat. Plus, all Slayers have the innate ability to sense when a Vampire is near.
Huh! Wasn't quite expecting this, given that in "Pangs" you said you were _glad_ they didn't actually interact, and that it was probably for the best. Was that just copium? Regardless, it was fun riding the roller coaster that is this episode again "with" you!
The writers may have been breaking them up once and for all aka giving fans closure after _The Prom_ (because Buffy doesn't actually get any in this episode with her mind erased), but the writing shows they wanted it to be a high note.

Actually, they only got one night together too. Romeo gets banished the next day and their rendezvous is famously ruined.
@@hardybryan oh for real, never mind Romeo and Juliet still have the undisputed most tragic romance ever but Angel and Buffy's is still up there lol
Romeo and Juliet were just horny. That romance is bullshit. It starts out with Romeo being a drama queen over breaking up with his gf then he sees Juliet and immediately forgets aboyt her.
Joss whedon even said Angel is Romeo
Not quite like Romeo and Juliet, more like Tristan and Isolde. At any rate, Angel will always choose the path that is hard; that's what makes him a great character.
SMG is the GOAT of emotional scenes.
One of the best episodes in the buffyverse
On the long list of times SMG crying seemingly coincided with an invisible ghost cutting onions in my living room, this _might_ be at the top - not just the grief for what she was about to lose but her desperation to avoid it. Hits the feels, every time.
Angel having to live with that memory also broke me

Masochist: one which loves Buffy and Angel and having their heart repeatedly ripped out season after season.
One of my top episodes out of the whole thing. The story was great. The acting was great. Felt all of it
This was a real 'heartbreaker' of an episode. Great writing again, but the writers know how torture the viewers. Angel likes to feel remorse and suffer
I was waiting to see your reaction to hearing Bufffy's voice and I wasn't disappointed.
Perhaps the hardest question in the Buffyverse is, who shreds your heart more violently in sad scenes - Buffy or Willow? They are both FAR too good at it, and it hurts.

Here comes the Angel Season 1 episode 8 and 9 one-two punch!

LOL at your "future dakara" notes. Love the content. Keep up the great work and congrats on 30K you legend!
Cordelia:...I'm sure they're down there having tea and crackers.
*Cut to Angel pouring tea into two cups*
ROFL

Happy you spotted it

I CAN'T WAIT for your reaction to the next episode.😁
In the underlying post relationship theme; this the 'Our relationship was good except for one thing'. But of course this is the Buffy verse...
Angel now has more to brood over... like he needed it
You dont hate this show... How could anyone?!?!
😂 "Future Dakara You Fool" Got to love time travel right ⚡
Poor Dakara, 'Pangs' made you all nice and happy, then BANG it all gets taken away like Angel's soul and you're back to sad and crying again.
WOHOOO... we do get a double header! Noooiiiiiceeeee
BAngel was there and it was glorious... Just to be ripped out of our beating hearts by Joss Whedon.
We all know you're really starting to love a show when you start talking about how much you hate it Dakara.😁🤗
Soooo true hahaha
You think you cried at this ep, wait until the next one...
One of my favourite episodes of all time and I hate it so so much.
Huh! Wasn't quite expecting this, given that in "Pangs" you said you were _glad_ they didn't actually interact, and that it was probably for the best. Was that just copium?
Regardless, it was fun riding the roller coaster that is this episode again "with" you!
Enjoying the ride my friend
The writers may have been breaking them up once and for all aka giving fans closure after _The Prom_ (because Buffy doesn't actually get any in this episode with her mind erased), but the writing shows they wanted it to be a high note.
SMG is a brilliant crier, but Alyson Hannigan is the queen!
I want reaction to devil gudge it is great K drama series 😍 you will be amazed
Isnt buffy interested with Riley right now
👌👌👌🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍💋💋💋
