    This is a million years late, but thanks for the video! I wish you had shown where the GD-ROM power goes to the other end :/ Trying to figure this out right now.

    The fact that you have success with almost everything you come across, i dont care how many wires you have sitting out lol

    Nice vid ,as always thanks for sharing. About the annoying load time, you can 1) try netbooting since you have the net dimm, it's a LOT faster to load the games over Ethernet ! And 2) rebuild the battery pack using CGR18650 batteries which you can find on ebay.

    Great info. Setting up a GD drive for my Naomi 2 as well. Smart man. I'm not paying $75 for a Naomi GD drive power supply either. Just wire it up.

    Friend, what is the name of the serial cable that connects to the GD-ROM? I bought a cable with the same plug and it won't fit.

    Hey man. I just made a video about my Naomi. I am tried to watch for your video to see how you actually powered this thing up. Think you can help?
    I’d like to use the PSU that was included with my Naomi but I suppose it is possible it could be bad. I’ve been able to get mine powered up using an ATX PSU with an adapter cable.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    One of the toughest optical drives ever made; actually it is the only one to be specifically designed for arcade use.

    Silly question but how did you plug in your Sega Naomi power supply to the wall mine only has two small black and white cables with a white three pin connector on the end with no power cable

      Did you ever find this answer out, Im in the same position as you are, I think I have everything set up correctly but I can't figure out what to do with that power supply three pin connectors with the white and black cable?

    • @SoulNine6
      @SoulNine6 9 лет назад +1

      +Sakurazukamori2424 Yes I finally figured it out, what I ended up doing was the following:
      1. Strip off the white connector on the power supply leave the three wires in tact: black white and green
      2. Find a standard black power cable, like the ones that plug into a desktop computer and cut the female end off (the part that would plug into the computer, not the part that plugs into the wall) once you do this you will see three wires in the power cable as well: green, white black
      3. Strip the three wires on the power supply to expose the copper wiring
      4. Strip the three wires on the power cable to expose the copper wiring
      5. Combine the cables on the power supply to the same color on the power cable (so for example you can coil the black wires to one another via the exposed copper on each, then do the same for the green and and white wires) then you can protect the connected wires with electrical tape
      6. For the green wire this is the ground and you can connect it to the small outer screw on the power supply.
      7. Plug in and test if the light comes on and the fan spins on the power supply.
      Hope this helps and feel free to ask me any questions you have about it if you run into problems and ill try to help as best I can

    it´s the blue arcade hardware you can see in this video, it was a cooperation between sega, namco and nintendo, so they called it triforce board =)

    Fantastic job Luke ! Wow what a mess that setup is but it's a nerd's paradise for sure LOL. So the Naomi hardware is pretty much the same as a Dreamcast ? That Melty Blood looks awesome, never heard of it before

    what is triforce?

  • @56kflyingtoaster
    @56kflyingtoaster 12 лет назад

    so does that mean you could, use your EEPROM reader to dump the H BIOS, and then make more H BIOS's for your other NAOMI'S perhaps :)

    Just like any disk without complete data redundancy on the disc. A thing only rarely done even when possible. GD-Rom is no worse than anything else.

  • @idied2
    @idied2 12 лет назад

    their not very good, sega used them for the dream cast. you can't really scratch them because if you do, there's a chance that the game wont work no more. Microsoft's HD-DVD is the same way, scratches = possible death to data on the disk. even if you take the disk to be repaired

  • @idied2
    @idied2 12 лет назад

    wow GD-Rom, i hated that format

  • @idied2
    @idied2 11 лет назад

    its a terrible disk, 1 scratch could ruin it....
