- I specifically left out the NPCs that had quests tied to to them because most players would not ignore them
These NPCs don't say anything about Cayde: Shaax, Master Rahool, Hawthorne, Tyra Karn, Ana Bray, Brother Vance, and Tess Everis.

The Man They Called Cayde
Everyone: *sad*
Failsafe: *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH*
Best reaction.
Drifter: *_HOW 'BOUT GAMBIT? YOU'RE JUST STANDING THERE._*
More like
“aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.”
“I feel terrible!”
Should I want to transfer failsafe into an exo and give her sweet business?
@- IronArachnid for me the captions said laughter
Imagine if your best friend dies then the drifter comes and is like “haha, that sucks but come play gambit”
Earther I get what you mean but have you listened to his tapes? This mans a couple thousand years old and children have died in his arms in villages he wished he could protect without showing his identity. He knows what you’re feeling, he’s numb to it. He has no kind words to offer, only advice and an outlet for your anger. Healing comes in many shapes and forms and he knows nothing he can say can help. Nothing helped him when his family died, when he lived through multiple apocalyptic events and grasped the concept that being immortal as a Risen means he will watch everyone he gives a damn about die while he is cursed with a life he hates. He doesn’t trust his ghost and he has died multiple times from hunger only to be resurrected... still hungry. He knows. Trust me he knows what you feel and he’s offering his solution... He respects you more than most know. Not just as a killing machine, but as a partner and he knows that where he can help is giving you an outlet to vent.
@@illastar Not only that, his Quip of "Go out with a Gun in your hand and loot in your pocket", makes one realise that Cayde wouldn't want the guardian to be so full of revenge... And from this Quote, neither does the Drifter.
Nobody:
The Drifter: Cayde died? Well that's crazy but uh I dont remember askin
@@Victor-056 the drifter just wants you to be happy and live your immortal guardian life to the fullest since any moment can be your last , how it's pointless to weigh yourself down with revenge and dwelling on the pain since you'll feel empty by the end of it all
Dude I read this comment and almost died while eating ramen
Failsafe was the one that broke me the most.
Yeah, Cayde charmed pretty much everyone that he talked too. Even Failsafe, and her evil twin Failsafe
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Failsafe made me cry, I wanted to hug the server
why ? She doesn't even know she's sad lmfao
The failsafe one broke me aswell. It's that line about experiencing loss cause it's so fucking true even if you don't care about Cayde, once you think about it it messes you up.
Damn, Failsafe. An AI made not to handle complex emotions sounded like she's about to burst. If only she's a human I would give her a hug man
@Is me ? I also love how she normally refers to him as "The Cayde-6" or "The Cayde Unit", but in this instance, she refers to him as just "Cayde". It really shows she really is more than just a simple AI, that she has complex feelings and emotions and that she can get attached to people and I love it.
How would a hug even work... she makes an exo for herself somehow or, maybe into a Lil bit that you can hug
@Is me ? i swear if i was a guardian i would steal a redjack frame and download exodus into it so she can leave nessus
Drifter: oh cayde died umm wanna come play gambit
@Vox4l Not to mention how his ghost kept bringing him back every time he starved or froze to death.
Amanda: Belives its best to move on. Feels secure working in the tower.
Drifter: Tells you to just be yourself. Let your rage out through Gambit if you must.
Devrim: Was curious about how guardians die the way a non-guardian would, now he knows.
Slaone: Roots for your vengeance, despite not liking the idea of going solo.
Asher: Reminds you to keep your guard up. Vengeance can have its consequences.
Failsafe: *Screams in Artificial Inteligence*
Amanda's little speech almost brought a tear to my eye. She seemed like the only one besides ikora that actually had emotion
Failsafe?
Yeah.....but this isn't what cayde want, seeing us this miserable, He.....he would want us to cheer up. Let's open a cold soda/alcohol and take a swig for the gunslinger of the Vangaurd. The pain is only in our minds, but no matter what we try to do help it stop it hurting. We can numb it, We can forget it, and We can even.....put us out of our misery, it won't make it go away, it'll only just make it worse and more worse. But there is a way to heal from these emotional wounds, if we remeber the good times and keep our spirits up, then all wounds will be gone.
@@ravenbearden6695 that's all good, but try not to cry when hearing "i'm coming home, Ace".
@@kakhakheviashvili6365 I didn't
I felt bad for her...like, really bad
I still find it sad that even after all this time, Colonel is still wandering around waiting for him to come back
Why would you say that? Why would you put that awful, terrible, depressing thought in my brain?
@@seanathaalexand we can always visit her in his stead where he used to stand in the tower hangar.
In the new lore books that came this season (Season of Arrival)(Won't go into too much detail due to mild spoilers since the lore book is supposed to be in pace with the Season's timeline) Colonel is not forgotten and makes a new friend.
Cobalt Epsilon thank you for that my friend
@@cobaltepsilon1080 What is this lorebook entry called?
Not gonna deny it, the Drifter and Asher have a point. Tbh the whole expension is a life lesson... to an extent.
Drifter meant its the cycle of life. Everyone has a bullet, their own death, be guardian, human, cabal, arkborn, hive we all die one day. Asher meant what you do in your life, and every step you take will have consequences.
Haha last word go bang bang
@@sundew3848 haha almighty go smash
Lucas Perez almighty go big kaboom
Hollow knight nice
If anyone that Cayde likes the most his old friends Ikora and Zavala were busy with their work but Cayde’s only friends were the guardian, Amanda and Banshee.
Ikora was cayde’s true friend as well
Theres a lot of Ikora and Cayde pal-ing around. They were pals. His Caydes Stash recording for Ikora is pretty nice.
Zavala, as much as cayde annoyed him, Zavala enjoyed Cayde's light heartedness even in the face of danger.
If you read some of the lore, Zavala and Ikora cared about him a hell of a lot. I can't remember what lore entry it was but they were both sat next to each other in the rain and both said they wished Cayde were with them
Failsafe was quite close with cayde too tho
1:30 This Quote alone made me smile. That's a very "Cayde-6" Quip.
Failsafe's case hits pretty hard when you realize she's not supposed to be capable of feeling Emotions.
Failsafe: *Tries to cry*
Everyone: "Wait, thats illegal."
Most take up Cayde's cloak. Me? I still have that ramen coupon.
EDIT: Yes, I am painfully aware that the coupon was deleted.
You and me both, never had the courage to discard it
I still have mine I refuse to discard it.
Wait what do you do with the coupon?
Raven Ware I don’t think it has any practical use,but mine’s still around
I've still got mine
Asher Mir's thoughts on caydes death was quite unexpecting.
His fire team was two hunters, he knows.
I used to hate Asher Mir, but his words were inspiring. He was warning us in a genuine fashion and though it may have seemed cold to others, I dare say it was not. Just a sobering point to consider for our exciting and unpredictable future as The Guardian. RiP, Cayde.
you shouldnt have ever hated him though
I can choose and do whatever I please, bud.
His backstory was actually very tragic, his friends died at The Pyramidion and Brakion, Asher was cornered and his arm and ghost was dipped in Radiolaria and thus his arm was and his ghost became Vex, he wanted to put his ghost out of his misery because of the traumatic exploration. Because of the Vex, he's the way he is and I feel bad for what happened to him, makes doing The Pyramidion a whole lot more satisfying.
@@LermaBean Actually the fireteam that went with him are still alive. They just don't keep in contact.
I am very attached to him, despite how cold and rude he is. He’s dying, basically trapped in the Rupture because of his very delicate health. I find his frustration a bit endearing, I must say.
Drifter had life figured out, he knew everyone die and wanted not to grief, but to push forward, sure it sounds a bit unorthodox with his methods but it is sound
This definitely shows so true in the lore. Though he may have a smile on his face, this man knows how to hold a grudge.
Well he had to deal with warlords like shaxx and many others, over time whilst losing those he loved he learned that nothing lasts, best he can do is move on and not let his emotions drive him to the same fate.
You know what, I like the Drifter
He probably killed Cayde tho... But that's just a theory, A MEME THEORY!
@@LermaBean no he didn,t read the lore BUT ITS OK COZ ITS A GAME THEORY
Drifter has always been one of my favorite characters tbh
Guy made Gambit. I can't forgive him for that
@@apricotcharms4126 gambit is amazing
I wasn't crying until we got to Failsafe. Her breaking was horrible, especially after all she's already lost.
I guess she's just emotionless
@@some_reallysmallbreakfast1360 she wasnt ment to feel emotions... but she does anyways.
@@some_reallysmallbreakfast1360 She was supposed to be emotionless, but the two crewmates quest, giving them more supplies than she was supposed to give, and Exodus Black mission, wanting to find out what happened to her crew, showed that she began to develop emotions. She begins to care for both our Guardian and Cayde, making us her new Captain. It is clear that she shouldn't have had them since an emotion carrying AI might breakddown in a non opportune moment where it needs to be in control or might give in to an enemy if they threaten to kill one of the crewmates, but yet she did so. Cayde's death too is evidence she has emotion, both sides of her AI.
Not only that, in the Strike where we help her with the Fallen in her ship, the exchange.
*Ghost: Exodus Black is all clear. Failsafe, you feeling any better?
Failsafe: Yes, thank you! As well as a ship AI can when her crew has died.
Ghost: We’ll always be here for you.
Cayde: And who’s better than us? We’re awesome.
Failsafe: Yeah. Yeah, I guess so.*
Our Ghost, Guardian and Cayde were her new crew, now she just has Ghost and Guardian...
Amanda gave a speech that made us feel her sadness. The Drifter told us that Gambit is here for us and remarked on our relationship with Cayde. Devrim told us about how death affects people and gave us a shoulder to cry on. Sloane encourage our vengeance in a way. Failsafe was incredibly distraught yet wanted to help us get through the pain. Asher gave us a lesson about retribution and self interest.
*guardian is sad cause cayde died*
Asher: Have you ever heard of the tragedy of Darth plagues the wise?
Failsafe reminds me of Ordis from warframe in the way she showed emotion only to jump back
Ordis is a dude im pretty sure
And thats called bipolar
@@gregbalisong4203 oh sorry. 😅when i said she i meant failsafe right there. she did the heartbroken cry then jumped back to happy. i was thinking of when ordis was offering to listen to the operator saying very sincerely "i am just a bug-addled cephalon, but... if you ever need to talk" he switches to being super happy "ordis would be happy to hear how depressed you are!"
Damn, now I feel even worse for the old boy. Ordis has already been through alot.
Personally, I like devrims speech the most. It's one of the most profound and thoughtful things I have ever heard.
Even after all of this... Asher was right, there are consequences for those actions and our revenge made Cayde's death permanent and Uldren resurrected by a stray ghost, it's infuriating but unfortunately, it was our fault.
Update: Especially considering that Uldren could have been saved... After all, his actions and words were merely a symptom of manipulation by Riven and Savathun, The Witch Queen.
I mean, some good came out of it. Crow more than made up for the mistakes of his past life and became a favorite of many.
If ONLY had good endings
i mean crow isnt evil
Oh, Failsafe... how I wish I could hug you
Avenging Cayde as a hunter exo male is just amazing man. Feels like avenging your best bro that you've known for years, it made it super epic tho
I picked exo hunter male before I even knew he was a character quit destiny 1 after the taken king (best dlc imo) and then bought destiny 2 but never got the dlcs, I wanna avenge him now
i feel like drifer wants you to be his friend, like he's missing something and he knows you are too
Read his lore, the guy got resurrected during the beginning days of the Dark age. He's seen some Lovecraftian shit and lived to tell the tail. Anyone would want some normality after that.
I'm not crying.
You're crying.
Well I f f f feel... f f f feel.....𝙰𝙰𝙰𝙰𝙰𝙰𝙰𝙰𝙰
Honestly the Exodus black got me....That was really unexpected and it got me teared up abit
Rest in peace, Cayde. You'll be missed. **salutes**
Dammit! Xür didn't say anything.
Later today, you'll have the Emissary of The Nine to have words about Cayde
Xur: “that sucks man but who asked?”
@@fr6938 "anyway the nINe gave me these, buy them, now."
Don't blame him. His will is not his own.
Damn too bad, he always bought parts for his ace and blackmarket ramen
Everyone: sad
Devein: YoU wAnT a CuP oF tEa?
At least he offered to talk if you ever needed it.
With this? No, he was offering whiskey.
I haven't played forsaken as I don't have enough for it, but I love Cayde. Seeing his death scene was sad :(
😭 this moment in game brought cayde to life for real. Cause he will always live in our hearts, an that in it self brings him to life. I have never cried so much over a fictional character as i have for him.. an at the end of the day what is reality.. nothing more but what you leave behind in the hearts of all who know you..
The Failsafe part actually made shivered
I like the drifter now
I don't know why I laughed when failsafe said "donezo"
I was born outside the City walls, you know that? Yeah, it was rough on the refugee roads. My ma died crossing the Panama Ravine. Pa died just a half-day’s ride from the City gate. Folks back then thought, if you made it to the City, you were safe. Took me a long time to feel safe here. I guess that’s why I like working in the Tower with y’all. Guardians don’t die. ‘Least, that’s what I thought. But... Forward momentum, buddy. That’s what Cayde would want. And uh... What else can we do?
Failsafe's reaction was both heartbreaking and hilarious
Tbh this is what solidified Devrim as one of my favorite NPCs from this game
Failsafes relatable reaction sent me, im crying now
Drifter: That sucks man, go play Gambit
Drifter can never replace me
HE LIVES!
Never.
"DING!" -The Drifter
Failsafe and Holliday hurt me most D:
I have never felt truly sad in a video game until Cayde died. I was super emotional the whole campaign, and when I finally got Ace, I literally cried in a party with my friends. Cayde was the best, and he can never be truly replaced.
this was recommended to me today... this was uploaded on my birthday apparently...i loved cayde, reminded me of a friend i once had, his personality was similar to cayde. don't know what happened to him.
R.IP cayde
What do you mean don't know what happened to him?
The Failsafe one genuinely made me sad
Failsafe almost made me tear up when she couldn't acknowledge his death.
I never liked Asher but what he says is very true. He is wise and is full of very important warnings.
im fine.. im not crying..
i can see where the drifter is coming from and hes a survivor, a guardian who dwindles between the light and dark for his own reasons. i think he was laughing not out of joy but of the mutual feeling of losing someone in the process of surviving and maybe the flashbacks of his companions and the reason why hes a loner. then proceeds to tell the guardian that he or she can always visit him to vent because he knows how it feels. after all, he survived the dark age, one of the longest standing guardians
The FailSafe one was the saddest and what fueled even more rage into me towards Uldren, but no more rage than what the Drifter gave me. Its known that the Drifter and Cayde weren't on good terms, and the fact that he said the very thing Uldren said before killing Cayde just pissed me off. Btw, you left out Shaxx, Zavala, Ikora, I think Hawthorne, and Banshee.
Though many believed killing Cayde-6 could have been a terrible choice in the franchise, Jill Scharr and all the writers did a remarkable job with Forsaken's narrative. I personally think that Forsaken is Destiny's best in-game storyline in the entire franchise so far.
The drifter is a man of reason, but he does have feelings but from what we know he experienced more than any other gaurdian, even the old lord shaxx, the iron lord Saladin, even saint-14. He's seen it all
We kind of have a time machine in our hands, couldn't we bring him back?
Not even VEX tech may work
not to mention we only were able to bring Saint-14 back because the vex couldnt delete the light so they drained it and placed it elswhere. and they built a memorial for him as even the vex know a valiant warrior when they see one
It only works on mercury
Jeez I almost cried when failsafe started breaking down.
I like how each NPC helped you go though grief
Failsafe- A machine experiencing heart break for the first time in millenia
Amanda- Haunted by the death of Cayde and those she lost along the way
Drifter- " Oh booho, cry me river. Everyone dies eventually,no point getting sad about it. But hey, wanna play sum Gambit?"
Failsafe’s reaction was the one that shattered me most and the only one that actually made me cry. We miss you Cayde, always
Guys for an easy gambit strat use a Hunter with way of the trapper ultimate and two warlocks with Chaos Reach, and use it at the same time on the primeval it will do at least 2 bars
Asher's advice resonated with me the most. more of a warning rather than reliability, empathy or condemnation as we saw with Zavala and co. He understands why we did it, but re-iterates that everything has its consequences and most are completely irreversible. indicating that we have to be cautious in our endeavours otherwise we may do something regrettable, as Asher had.
Thank you Nathan Filian and writers for making Cayde-6 a memorable and beloved character.
Rest in peace robot space cowboy 💙
The darkest day in destiny
Man.... I just can't believe I almost forgot that Cayde died (cuz I was playing the first destiny) nos that im playing D2 again it just breaks my heart that I cant see Cayde in D2 from now on.
Asher was cool. His little speech was great. I miss him. Gone but not forgotten
Dad: son why are you crying so damn loud?
Son: *This fucking video*
Me: Cade never died if I don't buy forsaken, he just went on vacation.
I got the Ace of Spades... But not because it was good, but it was for Cayde

*back to me continuing to slay an entire bloodline of oryx, xivu arath, and savathün*
It’s been awhile but damn. I’m ngl this still brought me to tears.
Anyone still have the noodle coupon? I do.
I do too.
I got tons after I found one of his "Stashes" in the cosmodrome
NOT ANYMORE :'(
Rip
Saddest one for me was fail safe’s response
Anyone else hug your tv/monitor after hearing failsafe cry?
Omg the music that played at the tower after cayde died literally made me want to cry myself to sleep
Bro Asher spittin wisdom for once.
You know...I never got around to playing destiny 1 and I only started playing destiny 2 a few weeks ago and in that dlc mission with Cayde, I liked him immediately. His little quips, the interactions with you and him. Then he died...and I know it's stupid to feel sad about a character that you knew for only one mission but it still hurt. I didn't know him but I know that he was dear to many of the long time destiny fans and I know that I'm going to make the bastards that killed him pay.
Failsafe made me fuckin cry ;-; i miss cayde so much
God, more people need to talk about Asher. He has a point. Everything has a price, everything does...
Cade will always live within us. Be happy that’s he is now with his son but morn that he is no longer with us.
Fuck, this was 2 years ago. I still believe we can bring him back.
I like the drifter he's my second favorite character cayde was my first
R.I.P Cayde-6 our darkest days are here😭😭 Bring hell to the enemy, for Cayde
Failsafe's speech nailed me right in the kokoro
you could interact with the ramen stand during the live event for the end of Season of Arrivals.....it gave you a slowness debuff lol
failsafe broke my heart, i was doubting if she can process through it that fast and then that, kicked in
Drifter: _Derelict's always in orbit if you want to... vent._
*Drifter was the Impostor*
Everyone: cayde was good.
Failsafe: (in a sad tone) he he...... Life go BBBBRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH
the Drifter made me feel a little better , but failsafe made me cry and banshee scared the fuck out of me
"Monetization was never an option." -RUclips
thank you for this.
I hate this its too sad to listen to this AGAIN. And everytime i visited banshee he was SO SAD BRUHHH
And guess what, the bastard who killed him is back as one of the lovely vendors to get us stronger..
I genuinely felt like Amanda was actually really sad...
makes it worse knowiing the fact they were very close, cayde would play cards with her because she reminded him of his wife from the golden age..
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hawthorn: you just never quit do yah? Took out Gaul, awakened the traveler, and now half of what I hear is about how you and your clan are making a difference!....
I still have his notes on my vault
The ace of spades is my most used revolver. I don't regret it
Amanda was crying and I cried with Failsafe like wtf
3:26
Oh god... you can hear Failsafe starting to break down...
I mean, the moment before Failsafe's less... enthusiastic half takes over. You can hear and feel her sorrow. Cayde was the first person to have talked with her after her crew died... and now he's gone... just like most everyone else...
You know, technically Failsafe broke, she wasn't a robot in her normal mood because she was stuttering and when she got mad/sassy/rude mode she was a robot basically, showing she had cared for cayde and saw him as some sort of figure.
Failsafe has the best reaction
I’m crying at failsafe oh my fucking god I’m so dumb but she was so sad this is like 2 years old but damn it
