@Joshua Fields I agree about likening one artist to another, in some ways it makes their work seem derived rather than an original talent. That being said, some people can't help but see art through the prism of prior experiences. Artists take inspirations from all manner of places and often make homages in their music to honor that. When you were listening to a 90s electronic track at 110dB and then Scary World comes on right after at 125dB because of the loud mastering and you get sucked into a black hole because your house collapsed. Lol. There's a cool mastering trick I learned a while back. Clipping can give a cool edgy INYOURFACE sound BUT it removes the dynamic POWER in the track. The trick to get both at once is to duplicate the tracks - do the clipping and edginess in one and add a multiband transient enhancer in the other. Adjust the two and mix them together. With today's streaming services it'll get turned down above -14LUFS so if you run the track at -12 for safety you can slam the transients against 0 and really make it pop on streaming services. You may need envelope shaping or careful limiting to get the right effect but when you do it'll blow your mind.

Garbage, eurythmics, Nine inch Nails, KMFMD, Birthday Massacre, Battle Tapes, Marilyn Manson
Night Club is definately in a league of its own though. Out of the list Id say battle tapes has the closest sound tbh.
Boy Harsher, Chiasm, Cold Cave, Selofan, Phosphor, Soma Sema, Prudence, Forever Grey, Mitra Mitra, Stockhaussen, Glass Candy, Mode Moderne, Void Vision, Diva Destruction
