Lol I connect my Ipod Shuffle to the small extension and I have a wireless pair of headphones :P
Made my day thx
"Jamaican bass".
Seems good.
Dude I like the fact that despite having all the audio stuff in the world, you don't trash talk cheap stuff just because it is cheap.
Thx for the feedback!
That rubber dongle starts to show cracks after a while, usually starts in the middle where the tension is. My suggestion is to simply find some rubber sleeve or tube, cut it the same length and put it through the dongle. That way you will prevent that middle part from excessive bending.
The little cord cable on mine died, and now I'm modding it to have a female audio jack. It is not durable and I'm a very careful person with them. Fun fact: if you remove the rubber from the female part of the cord it will fit perfectly where the male connector once lived.
I'm pretty happy with these headphones. I've used at home with my pc for a little over a year now. About 10 months in one of the cups stopped working. It was just a wire that needed to be resoldered and the warranty was still active so they fixed them for me. I can't imagine it's gonna cost too much to fix if it happens again.
The earpads are not the most comfortable. I use the pleather ones. A lot of people like the velour ones better, but I find them just a tad less thick so my ears touch the inside of the cup. I'm thinking of buying some nicer pads and replacing them.
I also like the sound stage for gaming a lot. You could get a cable with a mic if you need one. I just got a lapel style mice separately.
I'd definitely recommend these headphones.
DAnm going back and watching your older videos it’s good
Mine lasted 4 years. The mini cable that's attached started malfunctioning 2 weeks ago. They were used a lot, always going out and listening to them on a daily basis, on the computer listening to them, they've held up, it's just the mini cable that got screwed, but I've been throwing these in my backpack for years, so yeah. Thinking about getting M40xs
I have had mine for 2 years and I had to glue the jack connector two months in. Well that was entirely my fault, I treated them like crap but I still use them with more caution. It's a good bang for a buck.
I still feel like I will look at some other headphones at some point. Something with fancier built and similar signature.
I have the m40xs but they are completely fucked up now. I think i've had them for 2 or 3 years. They are structurally destroyed, the drivers only held up by their cables if i didn't have paper tape holding them nice. I bought these hd681 evo, i hope they last will last me at least 2 years. Although the m40xs broke on me, they lasted far longer for a lot more people. I really liked them.
Original 681s were my first "real" headphones (not dollar store buds) and then I bought both these and the Superlux HD330s. Sadly these didn't fit my head (the original 681s don't either, but you can just push them past the limit), I must have a shrunken head or something, I don't know. But then they broke -- the cables going from left to right ear (actually I think it's just the headband wire that solders into the cups) failed. Didn't even abuse the cans at all, either. Used the 3.5mm extension cables until I lost them though.
330s are my absolutely favourite pair of headphones. They look like DT770s, and the pads fit but I haven't bothered replacing the stock pads. They're more well-rounded than the 681s or even 681 EVOs, much more restrained highs but still quite crisp, probably like the 668bs. Coiled cable is nice, too, plus they came in a clamshell case. I'd recommend giving them a look if you can, but I do hear they clamp pretty hard. I just don't notice because babyhead.
Micah Bode so HD 668B is crisper than HD 681? Did you burn the HD 681 in?
I don't know much about the 668B; I haven't worn them. I don't believe in burn-in, but I'd say I definitely have done it. Put hundreds of hours into them. Nowadays for me they're unlistenable because they are so sharp, yet so grainy. HD330 is still a direct upgrade if you ask me, and T50RP with HM5 Hybrids an upgrade to those, which I've gotten since my original comment.
Micah Bode which one you have? HD 681?
HD681, HD681EVO, and HD330
Micah Bode which is better between HD 681 AND HD 681 EVO? In terms of gaming, immersion and soundstage.
Hey man, you checked out the takstar line of headphones? They're an OEM from China and I believe their factories produce a lot of high end gear, but then they release their own clones for very cheap.
The HI-2050 (I've got a little video on my channel) has been my favorite so far, for $43 USD, and they're a nice fun headphone for bassheads.
Thanks to the wave of good IEMs and heaphones from China, I can't imagine buying anything without a replaceable cable. I have already broken two cables attached to my Superlux HD681 and all I have to do was buy a new one and keep on listening to music like nothing happened.
I own Superlux HD681 EVO and HD662 EVO. The only difference is HD662 EVO are closed back and have more bass. The first thing I did was I bought way better 105 mm pads for both of these headphones. That improved the comfort significantly, it also changed the sound signature a bit but whatever. :-)
I think those 50 mm drivers pack quite a punch. Very bassy and also clear. The only thing that may put you off is the plastic built. They are very inexpensive for what they can do. I love them for that price. :-)
These or Tascam TH02 for gaming and music Z?
I don't know if your one came with velour pads, but mine did, and it makes them even more comfortable and makes the "surround" experience better.
Hah! Review using GoPro! Haven't seen that before! Great vid tho, helped me out a lot.
which one do you recommend? HD681 EVO or the Brainwavz (Digitech Pro Monitor) ?
I don't have an amp or a soundcard yet, but I'm planning to buy an Asus Xonar DG. (that's all I can afford). Comfort is my first priority.
My current Creative 3D sigma gives me a bad headache. I had a Pioneer SE M290 before, it was extremely comfortable, however the sound quality was pretty bad.
Today 7 hours of country rock black metal prog acustic everything stuff through these headphones and... I'm NOT TIRED at all.
Impressive.
how do they compare to the 668b?
These are not as clear and not as wide but have a more solid midrange. So music I may take these but gaming the 668's are still king.
someone said taking the foam out them that is behind the pads makes the 681 sound better. have you tried that?
jeff Vega I just tried that on my 681 evo's (just arrived earlier today) and I noticed it allowed a bit more treble /highs. You're talking about the foam filter inside the ear pads. I'm going back and forth actually to make sure it doesn't affect the bass. I needs the bass for gaming.
And so far, the filter /foam pad only has a minor effect on the highs. All bass is retained. If I had a put a number on it.... it's like you bumped the highs up a notch on an EQ by maybe 10 or 15%. But that's about it. It's only a pad and you can't expect adding or removing it to have more of an effect than that =-)
@ik1llpeeple4fun did you notice major difference in sound pleather vs velour pads
***** The truth is I took the pleather pads off immediately after I put on the headset and realized the pleather wasn't as comfortable /cozy on my ears as they looked. They're a bit stiffer than the velour and make the headphone feel slightly heavier than what they are. And I'm not into the more firm cushions. Although the pleather looked more premium I'll admit.
And so I didn't even get into sound comparison between cushions.... yet. Did this before I even plugged it in to anything lol. Had to get the cushion mod of choice out the way. Then I went into gaming as that is the sole purpose for the headset. Does a great job for gaming - especially if you like some bass in your shooters =-)
But if I decide to try out the pleather anyway, I'll let you know if the sound is a tad different. I'm guessing the differential, if any, would also be in the 10 - 15% range as was the case with the filters. Not expecting audio to change drastically.
I presume these are the earlier version, but you should make an updated review of MkII EVOs since they come with second pads (valeour) and they supposedly improved the sound signature so that as the bass won't drown mids and table any more.
EDIT: apparently you should replace the stock detachable extensions, as they are of bad quality, and others say that they get significant better results with this simple mod.
I believe I have the second gens, since mine also came with the velour pads. But I can't say that it's helping me with comfort. Everywhere I'm looking people are saying the Evos are comfy, but even with the velour pads the headphones start to hurt my ears and head after a while. Do you know of anything that could help me make the Evos more comfortable?
And what should I replace the stock cables with? Like, regular cheap cables or some high end ones?
The Dead Immortal I'm thinking of purchasing these. Can you please give a review? I listen to a little bit of Edm and rock, some pop as well.
Oh the sound is great. Love it. But mine had a defect in the headband, which is why it never felt comfortable. I'm still using it and it's manageable now but when it comes to the sound it's great. At first I wasn't satisfied with the bass but now I'm okay with it, and I mostly listen to EDM and other bassy music so if I'm okay with it you're gonna be great.
The Dead Immortal thank you for the quick reply. One last thing I forgot to ask though! Will my budget smartphone do it justice can't afford a dac atm
It depends on what you mean by budget smartphone. But I own a Sony Xperia Z1 (not a great phone) and it does it justice. It's not as loud as on my PC but it's loud enough. It also doesn't leak as much sound as I thought it would so you could use it on a bus or something.
jamaican bass ftw
these headphones should be re-reviewed…. they supposedly change the sound from time to time…
How is the imaging on these? I'm looking for cheap gaming Headphones, and out of all the criticallly acclaimed budgetfi headphones only these and the Samson SR850s are available in my country.
The thin bars that go over and provide the clamping force should be metal. On AKG headphones, they are actually what carries the signal to the right cup. I'd like to see for sure, but I bet these copy that design.
Problem is durability, mine broke in about 1 year. But I break most of my things.
DUDE, I WATCH A TON OF REVIEWERS AND SOME OF THEM ARE GOOD LIKE TYLL AT INNERFIELITY AND SOME OF THEM ARE BAD BUT I'M NOT GONNA NAME ANY, BUT I REALLY LIKE THE WAY YOU REVIEW AND YOU DEFINITELY DESERVE MORE SUBS AND VIEWS, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
I really feel you should check out the Steeelseries Siberia headphones... semi-open (even if it says "closed-type), and marketed towards gamers, but I really feel they are very good sound for all uses. They are around $60 USD for the v2 w/3.5mm jacks (or slightly more for the USB version). I have been using the v1's for about 10 years now and I really like them.
that inch extension is not all good, it can break and then your left with a un useable headphone unless you take it apart and fix it.
Hi Z, I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I like how you do your reviews, so much so that Iv decided to invest in an external audio set up for my PC and would really appreciate some advice.
I'm looking for a DAC, Amp, Cans and 5.1 speaker set up, have you any recommendations on what to get and what works well together, cheers.
Well a 5.1 would normally be a separate affair but in your case you can pickup a real surround receiver [amzn.to/1E7tnG6] and that can act as your Dac and Amp and Headphone amp. I don't have a budget but head to www.reddit.com/r/Zeos/ and the 5.1 post to look at speakers and a sub. If you are using this at your PC you can actually look into a 4.1 setup as centers aren't needed in a single person fixed location. As for headphones, again budget but more importantly usage and Open Vs Closed is important.
Z Reviews Thanks for the reply Stephen, from watching one of your other videos iv decided to get a small desktop set up to start with the smsl 73911 and the smsl 50 watt x 2 amp. now to pick some nice speakers that don't cost an arm and a leg lol, Im afraid my pickings are not all that great in the irish marketplace. thanks again for the help, will update you on what speakers i get and some new headphones, currently using the m50s your favourite lol.
Sweet. Good luck on your search.
You should review these cans again with some angled pads. I wonder if it'll beat the 669's bass.
Is it possible to stretch the velour Brainwavz earpads to fit HD-681 EVO?
Brainwavz has just released or announced their XL pads. Those will fit anything.
Thanks.
Headband breaks had two pairs. love them
Just ordered a pair. It looks really good for the price.
would you please tell me where you found it? I've looked everywhere and they seem to have been discontinued.
@@julioluiz AliExpress
For 32 I think I will buy this today. The "Beats plastic" is something that give me bad impression about the evo. 668b is at the same price. but this have velours pads I think and you recommended this over 668b for one person here.
You can get Hifiman velour pads for the HD668B. Neither headphones have great build quality however for the price, and the sound quality you get from both, it's adequate.
Now whether to choose these or the 668s, do you prefer bright treble sound and wider soundstage, or a slightly more flat sound?
You didn't make a sound demo of these but I realised I didn't need one after watching Bakemonogatari the day after I got these in. You sneaky weeb Zeos ;)
I've just bought it, can you recommend a budget headphone amp or dac/amp for this ? Volume is too low and bassy with my laptop. Tried it with a presonus audiobox and it sounded great and flat, but don't want to spend 100$ just for its headphone output.
Dragonfly or E10k. Own the E10k myself although the improvement is subtle but it is clear it sounds more clearer than before
Man you are awesome!!!
I want a headest for watching movies, music and gaming sometimes but my priority is movies and I want the "subwoofer-feel" at a low price on my next headphones. Should I get this???
ooo, this video is uploaded on both zeospantera and z review
:P
+Gh05tWh0W4lk5 Back in the day I couldn't decide where to put it.
Haha fair enough. Why not both ay?
I have both Superlux HD 681 and 681 evo. HD 681 is much better. It has better resolution, accurate bass, clear midrange, crisp highs and better soundstage. They are more open but bass goes down as evo's (HD 14 Hz vs evo's 10 Hz). They are now 19.90€ in Thomann Germany. Evo's are 29.90€.
but the 681 evos are not sharp sounding and they have more bass than the 681
@@linolingelbach2214 Yes, you are right. I just mod my own, changed pads and took off foam. Now they sound better.
@John Dela Cruz No. Evo has very bassy, v-shaped sound signature without clear midrange and without clear highs and open big soundstage. You can eq that but you can't get same big and open soundstage 681 have. When take off felts covering drivers you get more clear sound. More midrange and highs but not enough midrange my taste. Maybe equing you can get better midrange. I have modded my 681 adding extra foam (you can use also toilet paper on drivers) and better pads and I like it more than evo.
how big is the soundstage?
Can't remember
It's very wide and deep.
Like HD-800. Or at least DT990.
Hey, what's the best sub $100-150 headphones in your opinion? I primarily listen to bass heavy music like EDM, trap, but then I also listen to indie songs and other calmer types of music, but also game and watch a lot of movies, tv shows and videos.
So basically what's the best headphones under or around the $150 mark that has good bass but doesn't go over the top and still sounds good no matter what kind of music I listen to?
HyperX Cloud (aka the Takstar Pro 80 if you want to find this guy's review of them)
Bonus point is they're branded as a "gaming headset" so you get a detachable mic with them. You can find them as low as $60-$70.
The bass is great if you like EDM and trap. It sounds fine for folk and such because most of that music doesn't have a ton of sub-bass frequency in it to begin with so it's a non-issue.
When you say "I dont hate these" does that translate to "buy"?
Pretty much.
For music, which is better: Superlux HD562 or HD681 EVO? Thank you very much.
Hey I have a Question please.
Which Headphone is better for Gaming/Music and more comfortable ?
I wear glasses and have big head.
The Superlux HD681 or the Superlux HD681 Evo or Plantronics Gamecom 388 Headset ?
Im very happy if you can help me and answer me back bye :)
I've already got a set of Pioneer SE-A1000's. Should i just get some velour pads for them, or would you say the Superlux HD681 EVO is a better option? Since they also come with a pair of velour pads.
I primarily game btw, and listen to rock/metal/synth.
Get the pads.
"these headphones don't adjust, this band moves up and down"..... THAT'S CALLED SELF-ADJUSTMENT!!!
Are these Superlux good to listen music? What headphones do you recomend around 50$? Thanks.
Right side of mine died after mild use and has no sound, possible to repair it?
Listening mostly to Old punk, thrash metal, and more of that genre.
Would the 668b or these be better? I like to have a bit more bass.
+Kajtheking More bass you need something like these 681's or even the takstar 2050's
Z Reviews
Thanks for the fast reply, I checked your other video about the Hi2050 and you seemed to really go for those, so I ordered them :)
In the official website says are closed-back this headphones. Now. I'm. Confused
Man, I just can not figure it out. I loved my Sibera bake then, because of their dry bass. Now, where I am owning a pair of Grados SR80i, I am looking for a comfy pair of budget headphones for long term listening and gaming. I realized, that I am pretty much disappointed by the sound of the Siberia by now and can not decide between the 688B or 681 Evo.
I like the 668's more. Especially with replaced pads.
Z Reviews
Thanks for the reply, a friend of mine owns a pair of 688Bs, which I obviously tried, but the Evo where more of a bargain, as they do includ some velvet ear pads for a lesser price. These are pretty enjoyable headphones and so far, the only thing is that they does not sounds as crunchy as I would like to. But still they are worth the money. And thanks to you, I spend annother 60 bucks onto the SMSL sAp II and I am pretty much eager to power my headphones through it. Keep up the awesome stuff, lad. Cheers.
Will they work for electronic drums?
Why am I finding a comletely different pair (they look like akg 240) named Superlux HD-681?
This one or superlux hd668b ?
I am a gamer
Plz 🙂
Is ther any difference between this EVO and regular HD681?
i wanna buy under 150$ headphone
i usually hear some house track with funky bass
what should i get? is ath-40x good enough
Great headphones, but a little bit uncomfortable for longer using.
Which one would be better for rap music with smooth sounding base and also great for gaming? I do have the 668b in mind because of its cheap price.
+Nigel2Timez 668b do more soundstage so gaming is a bit better.
alright, thanks. :)
In case you still keep this headphone, could you please try EQing it and let us hear your feeling? I EQed it with Equalizer APO, raised the mid, make the treble flatter and my config.txt is:
Preamp: -10 dB
GraphicEQ: 20 1.8; 25 0; 31.5 0; 40 0; 50 0; 63 0; 80.4 0.6; 100 1; 125.2 0.6; 160 0; 200 0; 254.5 0.4; 306.4 1; 393.8 1.7; 488.7 2.3; 625 2.7; 799.3 3.1; 1022.2 3.3; 1340.5 3.9; 1646.8 3.9; 1867 3.9; 2540.1 4.6; 3154.1 5.4; 3916.4 9.2; 4986.7 -3.1; 6300 0; 8000 0; 10007 -6.6; 12047 -6.6; 16000 0; 19965 0
I use the velour pads that are included with the headphone. The inner felts (the little felts you see after removing the felts that touch your ears) of my headphone are also removed by half, on the side of the front of the head but I think it does not have much effect anyway.
I heard the SHP9500 and think that the EVO with this EQ is way better than SHP9500: clearer, more involving bass, as good treble (not sure). About comfort, the velour pads with the headband cranked out to decrease stock clamping force make this headphone more comfortable than the SHP (maybe due to the bigger contact area of the pads), just a little hotter though.
You could trim the highs a tad. Otherwise these are very accurate, dynamic sounding cans.
Do the sponge mod, just pull it out and test sound again. just do this and pull it out. Also the pads are removable,in Germany in the box you get the velours.
i.imgur.com/knSuO8z.jpg
The V2 681EVO get velour pads. The box for the newer HPs mentions the spare pads. If you're in the US, amazon seller SONIC SENSE has the V2s.
i don't get it. can you explain it to me? (german/english) would be nice
MrSuicidesilence91 Look at the picture i posted.
great review
Are they better for studio mixing than the 668s?
What do you do if the one-inch-cable break?
No a single word about soundstage.
I have three questions: Do you have any big concerns with that flexing cable design or the headband bars breaking prematurely, and do they clamp very hard (I wear glasses)? Those bars do have a metal spine or something, right?
I might be sold on these, but I don't want them to break at a whim even if they never leave my desk.
+M. Birchman No concern on the cable dongle it is thick rubber all the way down. They do clamp but I never tried with glasses so hard to say. Not sure about the metal either I don't have a pair of these lying around to check. They might not.
+Z Reviews Cool, thank you! That was a fast reply for an older video.
So after a bit of searching on head-fi threads I found some photos that seem to show the headbands as rubber or plastic coated metal, that are actually soldered to act as the wiring to the other headphone. I don't think they'd snap, but perhaps the metal would fatigue after a long time of flexing.
I was a bit skeptical of their durability but they seem solid for home use from a lot of reading. They've made a new version including free extra velour pads and a more relaxed head strap elastic system. I've gone ahead and ordered them!
@@medec10667 How did they last you, man? Durability and getting clamped down on my glasses are my biggest concerns. I already ordered them, though
@@Espectador666 Hey, it had lasted for around a year or two, but only because the vinyl head strap eventually cracked and broke. The circuitry was fine. Replacing the strap proved too much of a pain given how they're attached on the inside of the ear cup, so they're in my closet waiting for a repair day if I feel like doing it. I've run SHP9500s for the last 6 years since which are still good as new.
The clamping was bad, I wound up modding the ear cups to cut slots in them for the arms to go through... lol. You can remove the earpad covering easily and cut a gap into the foam. With the SHPs I don't have this issue, I'm thinking it's because the Evo cups can't swivel to relieve pressure on the temples.
@@medec10667 Thank you so much for answering 5 years later dude. Very good idea that of the arms. Might try it if it gets too uncomfy. Again, thanks for the answer, man, i wasn't expecting it at all. I'll take a look into the SHPs. Have a great day
Have you tried ever hanging them around your neck. As in when taking off you just slide them down to your neck. Are they comfortable in that position ?
No they are not. First of all they are big so they constantly touch your jaw and the plastic strap is kind of pricky.
No they are not. First of all they are big so they constantly touch your jaw and the plastic strap is kind of pricky.
not really. I just bought them and while I love them, they are huge... and not that confortable around your neck
I damaged that bit so be gentle with them.
I'll be honest. I hated mine. The plastic makes them squeak like crazy. On my head they were supremely uncomfortable. The stock pads are just horrible. But the worst part is what happened to the headband; it was fucking awful to begin with, but very quickly it turned into a complete mess. I don't even know how to describe it - I should probably up a pic of it. Didn't enjoy the sound too much either. I like what Superlux does - cheap cans that are sometimes pretty ok, but these I would avoid like the plague. The HD-330, even with the stock pads, were MUCH nicer in every possible way. Add in beyerdynamic pads and they're nearly awesome.
Just got the Superlux HD 681 Dynamic Semi-Open Headphones. Total crap build. A tad bright. Otherwise very neutral. Great sound for the money.
to anyone who owns the 681 EVO white... does the white discolor and become yellowish overtime? please indicate how long you have the headphones, thanks.
I have had the white ones for 1-2 years. It does not become yellowish at all! It has glossy white plastic that does not become yellow, and the matte white part is really easy to clean.
Atlas AGFX thanks I appreciate the info
Do you still have the 681 EVO? Would you say they are the best pick for a gaming/music choice under the 60$ range?
I have a laptop and i want headphones for fps first person shooters games but i don't have any dac/amp, in that case would you still recommend the 668b or the 681 evo? The 681 evo bring the changeable pads, and i am worried about the impedance. Are the differences between them that big?
+Tira-Picos HD I like the 668's more than the 681. i think they sound way better open.
Z Reviews How about playing games on console (PS3/PS4) and connect the headphones to a TV via 3.5 mm jack without any dac/amp. Which one would you recommend or let's say is gonna give a good sound the 668b or the 681 evo?
I saw this video and ordered the headphones. They arrived yesterday.
And then I saw the Philips SHP9500 video and now i am like wtf, should've bought those..
Yeah I was wondering if these or the 9500s are better.I hear the 9500s are harder to drive, soyou may ned an amp to get the best sound, and it's not so great for say an mp3 player or a phone. They're also discontinued and cost more.
Still though, the build quality and sound I hear from people that 9500s blow EVOs away.
Not blow EVO's away but shp's have a better soundstage and a bit better clarity because they are more open. Evo's have better bass.
NHK23 Yes so I would assume because of the semi openness. I am torn between the two, however for me it'll come down to what's cheaper to ship. The Phillips do seem a better build though as I'm not sure how long that rubber band at the top will last and the little dongle thing despite being reinforced. I've had way too many headphones die on me, and I'm wondering if the extra bit of cs will ensure quality and last longer and 9500s being discontinued may mean that by next year or so they'll be really expensive
Yes. I think shp's would be better option. They look better too.
Maybe after some time we could exchange headphones if you want to listen to the EVO's. Lol
NHK23 Not likely, the shipping to and from Brazil would kill me :/ lol. I hope the extra $30 is worth it for the 9500s though.
HD681 or hyperx Cloud?
How does this compare to shp9500?
If i use fx audio dac x6 will it deliver a better sound quality?
Takstar Hi2050 or Superlux HD681 EVO for gaming/communication ? I have modmic 4.0.. And I will plug the headphones to an Nuforce udac.
I already have Superlux Hd-660, Damping modded. Monoprice DAC/AMP for music.
yggmahbollen 2050's are what I am wearing right now. So yes.
Great for gaming ? Wide soundstage and bass?
Check out my Gaming Headphones video ruclips.net/video/63BxrNuXnYg/видео.html I go over a few.
I have had these for 2 years and I love them. I need a slightly better bass. Can anyone recommend something?
+HDVideoTuts Check here redd.it/3ttvhy
I am in such a dilemma here. I love my EVO's love the sound stage and isolation. Love the clarity of the bass. I need a set of closed cans that can perform similar with a little bit more bass and I need it to be portable. I really like the thought of PRO 80's but I doubt that those are portable. I was thinking about the HM9's but they feel flimsy. I tried some sony cans at the mall and sorry to say, they are all shitty. Just unnecessarily boosted muffled bass with mediocre mids and terrible highs, and thats coming from a guy who has only had Cheap headphones all his life. I seriously dont know what to do. Maybe get M50x's and EQ the bass down or get M40x's and EQ the Bass up? ... I just love the Bass signature of the EVO's but I wish they are a bit louder.....
+HDVideoTuts never the 50x. But not sure about the SS on the 40;s. Your issues would be solved if your budget was high enough for MSR7;s or momentum2;s
I guess I will start saving.. hey do u think MSR7 has more bass than pro 80's .. Pro 80's dont have as much bass as EVO's even though the EVO's are semi open.... maybe because they just dont got below 20hz.. where EVO's go to 10hz...
Can I use this with tube amps?
And will tube amps add colour to the sound of this headphones and make it more fun?
+Archie Millar You can use it. What that tube amp does is up to the tube and the tubes and the weather and how well or badly the tubes were made. See one of my latest videos where I compare the sound of two solid states to two tube amps.
+Z Reviews Will I hear the tube sound even if the headphones are 32 ohms?
+Archie Millar No, it is dependent on the load caused by the headphone and any number of specifications. No guarentees
the 681 evo or 668b? is 10$ worth?
HD 668B vs HD 681 vs HD 681 Evo. For gaming, so soundstage. Is there much difference in gaming between them?
668 is wider.
Z Reviews How much? A bad difference or a marginal one?
For gaming I think 668B is your way to go for the bassy and potential SPL. For music I think 669 would be better since they are more precise sounding.
how do i win it
Are HD688 better?
What about the 662 evo?
Superlux HD681 EVO is some like PreSonus HD7?
+TV Online Hrm.. I'd call those 668 clones. So watch that review.
Can you use with your phone or you need a amplificator?
U can use it with phone easily. But with amp like Fiio e10k it sounds better
For electronica and gaming, Takstar HI2050 or HD681 EVO?
+ross walker 668 or Pioneer SE-A1000
these are pretty good and have nice soundstage
never listened to takstars tho
have changed much positional accuracy from superlux 668b to 681 evo?
+AcheTCK the 668's are def more accurate with their soundstage.
+Z Reviews oh i read wrong, edit my post. And about chinesse headphones wich ones are the best you have tested about positional accuracy?
+AcheTCK The AD500x are up there.
I just got this and the 668b and I find the EVO less pleasurable for listening. The sound in the evo have... less space, is something opaque, a bit stuffy. The 668b give me a better impression. The sound is more detailed, clean, bright, more space. I just feel it but I can't explain technically.
How to improve this evo to get more closed or even better than the 668b?
Alex Noa But 688B is better for gaming? Or the original 681?
whats the difference between evo and non evo? i have the non evo
Its been 8 months, I doubt you are still curious, but the evos are the newer version, and some changes were made. For example, the main complaint for the non-evo was treble sound was extremely sharp, and to some people painful. Sound was balanced out in the evo version.
Note, I don't actually own either of these headphones yet, but I am considering them, and have been doing research on both.
Gavin Tang whats better for gaming? HD 681 EVO OR 681? BOTH COME WITH extra velour pads?
Which is a more balanced headphone and good for both gaming and music? 668b or 681 evo?
+Ajax01 681 probably. 668 is almost too wide with the pad mod for music.
Thanks! Good thing that the 681 evo is still available since the 668b is always out of stock.
681's beat the m40xs. they have better instrumental seperation and sound as clean.
though they lack some bass
Stormtrooper I thought the 681 evo leans more towards the bass? And I'm actually thinking that I should just save money for the sennheiser momentum over ear ($128.45) brand new, here in my country.
what are your main headphones??
Lol. I don't have main headphones. Just many headphones.
for a bass head these or seinheiser hd 205 II ?
These
Z Reviews thanks 😃😃😃
Z Revies. can you use this with Smartphones?
They don't have a mic or inline controls, so no good for making calls.
But you can use them to listen to music. They're 32 Ohm, so won't be super quiet like some high-end headphones.
What do u do when this 1-inch-cable break? Lol. Buy another one HP.
hd681evo or hd668B for music n gaming .
+amir aswad 668
+Z Reviews why 668b?? more sound stage ?? i read the article about superlux headphone in HEAD FI ,
and they said 681evo has better audio quality than 668b . i just want to know your opinion..
668's are soundstage crazy. For gaming they are some of the best.
for music ?? 681evo?? 668??
681's
what dac would you recommend for these
Either the SMSL M2 or the FiiO E10K. Both would work fantastically.
What do you think of the smsl sd192 pro or hifidiy sabre usb dacs
I have a sabre dac around here somewhere. Sounded pretty good. I haven't heard the 192pro but other reviews seem very positive.
681Evo or 668b is better without using amp? :O
+Chia Chen About the same.
+Z Reviews Ok, thanks :D
2050 still beats both 681Evo and 668b without amp?
The 2050 are more normal sounding headphones. The 668 and 681 each have something different and quirky about them.
wear glasses people comfortable to use these headphone?
I wear glasses and they are fine, they squeeze a bit on the sides but not uncomfortable.
they have quite alot of clamping force
remove foam or not?
You won't know till you try.
Can you reverse the process?
@@axir1323 yes
So it sounds wierd, but someone said they are better than the HD660s by Sennheiser, what is your take on that? @Z Reviews
Why you have not do a SOUND DEMO? XD
One of my first reviews. Didn't even dream up the recorder back then.
