This video feels like a direct commentary on the time that we find ourselves living through right now and how it can feel apocalyptic. Focusing just on COVID for a minute, (there are lots of other apocalyptic things happening as well which I won't get in to) particularly for people whose livelihoods (and their derived sense of self and purpose perhaps) are in entertainment - the arts, sports, etc. - the global pandemic has completely stripped away their ability to do what they do. It's terrifying. I think the dark, apocalyptic settings that the boys are in represent the global moment we are in now. The references to all of their previous videos (previous work as artists) are still there, but everything is dead, destroyed and they are alone. The cut scenes to the set-like utopia are (interestingly enough) super old-fashioned. Retro headphones, non-digital games like jenga, baseball, foosball, a super old looking TV set - but in that dream-like, "historical" setting they have the ability to be together and happy. Perhaps that's the boys going back in memory to a time that seems so far away and distant now because all of the simple pleasures of life are not currently possible. But, life always prevails. Positivity and hope are out there. Spring will come again, and it's just a matter of time. We have to stay positive until we get there and then we will be able to enjoy all that the world has to offer again - the sun will come out, the flowers will bloom. The final shot going back to the window in the apocalyptic, dilapidated hallway lets us know that we're not there yet. But, it's coming. Just stay gold. Stay hopeful. That's my interpretation.
This is EXACTLY what I got out of not only the video, but the way the song sounds. Like, the melody is a little melancholy, but then the chorus is encouraging and rousing. And it makes sense there would be melancholy in the music - it was made during a sad, hard time. It's a song and video born out of quarantine, made during quarantine, to get us through quarantine.
Great analysis. I'm also thinking this could be a reference to a quote from the S.E. Hinton novel, The Outsiders: "Stay gold, Ponyboy." This is also a reference to the Robert Frost poem, "Nothing Gold Can Stay." The first line of that poem is "Nature's first green is gold." The quote in the novel conveys the message that the narrator (and by extension the reader) should hold onto the golden qualities (innocence, trust, fairness, etc.) that set him apart from his companions and his surroundings.
Cynically Hopeful wait....they filmed this during quarantine? Or before it? Because if it was before then thats just crazy because it parallels so much of what is going on in the world rn
This is what i was gonna say. When Namjoon was trapped in a cell, that points to when he and taehyung were arrested, but he holds the burden of that incident. When jimin was laying on a mattress with white clothes on, it seems like he’s back in the hospital. There seems to be references to the hotel in hyyh, as well as the tree from Spring Day
I WILL JUST LEAVE MY THEORIES HERE: - Jin floating in a mattress on water could be him floating in sadness and misery and the lyric said "I ran to you hide and seek" is Seokjin trying to save the members without them seeing him. - Yoongi is sitting and looking out the window. (its like he's seeing what's ahead but have no courage to move there) - Hoseok is in a room (could be his kitchen) next to a window with a flower on the side it reminds me of the one in the book "BTS: THE NOTE" where JK (or Jin) entering their classroom (hideout) and found a flower that written Hoseok under it, he's been planting it for like 2 years. perhaps it remind him of those old days where they were together. - Namjoon it's like where he got on a fight and got locked up in jail, or could be he feels he's locked in jail bc all the stuff that happened to him and his family and the kid he met at that village (he believe if not for him that kid would have been alive) - Jimin in a bonded school bus remind me of Jimin in BU where he had the seizure on the bus which resulted in going to the hospital and never return to Hoseok. it was the last time he saw Hoseok (until 2yrs later) but he always gets abandoned by others. he was locked just like how his parents and doctors locked him at the hospital for so long, he's looking out of the window (just in the book when Hoseok asked him why are you still here? he look out the window thinking) seeing cars passing by, it's like everyone is passing by and moving forward while he stuck at the same state/place. - Tae in what I think is a bonded library and burning a match and remembering the happy days remind me of "little match girl" (basically it's about a lonely girl who when she light match all her family and loved one appear and she becomes happy) - Jungkook, in the beginning, looking out of the window (he's the only one to look out the window and get closer) he's willing to see outside and change. when he was being locked it's just him locking himself from people (classmates or members) or people locking him away from them (his family) he feels like an outsider that been locked away from others
20 things you missed 1. hallway, the Jungkook scene approaches the hallway, looks similar to the hallway in the MV Fake Love 2. Window, after jungkook reached the top, he looked at the window, reminding us of the MV Fake Love 3. the birth of Suga's return, this room is a bus for the resurrection of Suga in the MV Fake Love, the tree now is a symbol of new life or a new beginning in the MV Stay Gold 4. Jin's mattress, on MV On Stage: Prologue and Blood, Sweat & Tears Japan 5. Prison RM, reminiscent of Yourself era and Wings era, the scene where RM is trapped in a lift , that there is a telephone booth in MV drama Reflection and Webtoon 6. Bus, reminiscent of the MV No More Dream 7. Competition, When V did a match or lit a match reminded Jungkook's scene of MV Spring Day 8. Golden Retriever, In March Jimin and RM became friends with Golden Retriever 9. Jin reads a book or comic called "A Midsummer Night's Dream" that is a comedy play by William Shakespeare written in the 1950s. the book or comic tells about those who played in the forest with many flower references. basically is about characters finding love 10. Jimin's photo, Jimin's artistic photo, found on MV Stay Gold 11. Jungkook's scene in the MV I Need U 12. The clothes that Jungkook wore were similar to the Fake Love MV 13. Suga's lyrics section that read "Moon" is Jin's solo song 14. Their friendship bracelets (BTS) 15. Kitchen, Scene J-hope is the same in MV Blood, Sweat & Tears Japan 16. A locked door, in the Fake Love Jungkook MV seen in the lock hole of J-hope's door. J-hope can't get out of the room, but a golden light comes out of the door opening. it shows that J-hope was released 17. Suga Scooter, it was reminiscent of when Suga had delivered a collision in Seoul and his shoulder was injured last year and MV For You 18. RM leads the members, just like in MV ON Official 19. Spring, Their scene gathered like MV Spring Day 20. I Purple U , Scene V touches the tree, which is covered by purple moss like ARMY
1) The place at the end reminds me of magic island. 2) After Tae lit the match and threw it into the books, he closed his eyes like he was committing suicide. (Like suga) 3) Then later, the video shows Tae in the same room with the books and the fireplace, and instead of lighting the books on fire, he lit the fireplace. This shows that Jin could have gone back in time again to save Tae. This is what I think right now and I am just pointing out the things I noticed.
-i see Jin here, in Fake Love where Hobi sat in chair in water seems trapped -RM was trapped same as in WABP Eternal Hobi was trapped in a box -JK was always unseen or hidden like he was in Fake Love -Jimin in old No more dream school bus -i dont see fire here in Stay Gold MV as negative interpretation...for me fire here means 'to glow' as the song also says "glow" when V matched it...for me its mean to be enlighten. to see the light.. since as V lighted it the bright scenes came...while fire in spring day and in suga's parts in BU has negative interpretation... -for me, scenes when they are together happy, also remember me scenes in run and i need u,...they also been happy when they are together -i agree that the gold dusts are the army coz when gold splashed i remember the purple light splashed in WABP Eternal -the key hole, where in Fake Love it was dark, but in this MV, it was bright with golden dust...seems ARMY opened it -as also in some scenes, like RM,Jin,JK,JM and Suga, these golden dusts seems their light patterns to follow...the golden dusts are their guide... -the tree where in Spring day it still withered but here it was now bloomed. -i agree the little whole lake seems like in the BTS LoveYourself campaign teaser -i also agree that the picture of them together in a lovely place seems same as the ending in WABP Eternal where they wore their BWL attire -and Tae touched the tree with purple moss delicately...and golden dust came again...seems for me, it how he feels for army. i hope u get me hahaha -for window, at start it looks like full of dust and gloomy outside...but at the end, with this glowing gold dusts the window shows as bright these are just all of my own interpretations. OMG im waiting to watch this.thanks. Ilove it with some points we are seeing same scenes...for me, final thoughts is Stay Gold is a hopeful song and also the MV.😍
The place where they are at the end, it's the Magic Island!! (Yes from TXT, with the lac and the tree...) !! I see a lot of theories about that and it totally make sense!! Plus this place is exactilly the same as the one drawn in the photobook of Gfriend's last album ! Because, yes , you have to know that the universe of BTS, TXT and Gfriend are all connected!
The last scene seems to reference TXT's magic island MV and GFRIEND's love whisper MV. Maybe there is a clue on how they are linked under the Big Hit universe.
But I think in my opinion, GFRIEND are not connected with TXT (TU) or BTS (BU). GFRIEND, TXT, BTS, they all have they're own story line, but in my opinion GFRIEND are not connected with TXT (TU) & BTS (BU). But in my opinion I think somehow TU & BU are connected with each other. For example, blue & green eyes cat is in both TU & BU. But in BTS "save me" webtoon, the cat give Jin the opportunity to help his members. But in TU the cat try to separate the boys? & They have more connected with each other. There is a RUclipsr, his channel called "JoseOchoaTV" if you want to check in his channel this two videos will help you, "BTS AND TXT UNIVERSES ARE CONNECTED [THEORY]" & "TXT & BTS UNIVERSES CONNECT EVEN MORE! [THEORY]". I also watched that Video from Laina Sunflower, but I can't agree with her all of that. Plz don't hate me, this is just my opinion.☺️
Hi! Your theory is nice! But imo,GFriend isn't connected to BTS and TxT,as they already have a storyline before they moved under BH. Please don't @ me this is my opinion.
For me the window at the end is the "light at the end of the tunnel". I just like to think of this song as being a reminder to Army that though this is a dark time (pandemic) there is light at the end. And the phrase "Stay Gold" is telling us to stay positive and look for all the good things we still have in our lives. And we can find them when we need a little happiness and they can find us when they need a little happiness.😊💛💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The book Jin was reading looks like it said "Summer" and when I think about it. Spring Day looks like it happened in Winter. So I guess it goes like Winter --> Summer --> Spring Winter for the dark times they went through Summer for the time when Army was there for BTS Spring for the times when they are happy like rn
the way they walk together up the hill reminds me of how they walk up the big rock in ON, abd the cloudy dark sky that then shines gold also reminds me of ON, with the dragon in the sky
As there's no "BU content etc etc" in the description, we know officially it's not directly connected to the storyline... but there's TOO MUCH references in there to be just a coincidence, I strongly believe they put all that on purpose 😂😂
oh and the kitchen where jhope is in for stay gold, it reminds me of the kitchen in bst Japanese version where jimin was the hallway at the end, it reminds me of fake love. In fake love mv where the floor starts falling and jk is running? oh and the part where v touches the tree with the purple stuff, i think that means "I purple you"
Ahhhhhhh I waited for you to upload! And you finally did it! Edit:I got some theory not some tho but much...they literally goes back to their old comeback and They exchange roles...the place they are is the same place at Fake love MV and the place got burn...and there a lot of others referans from their old MV...I literally saw Butterfly sticker at RM part when he sit at sofa with a dog and JIn reading book there were a flakes Shape butterfly...i assume the golden dust is ARMY...since when the Dust meet each others they create a beutiful Island...andddddds The trees at island part is literally the scene from spring day MV...where the trees didn't blossom yet...and at the end TAEHYUNG touching purple tree and it's create a dust...in fact Taehyung is I PURPLE YOU creature...Im not so sure if JIn part where he reading book is part of the theory...I saw one book where we can saw a title at taehyung part...(I cant remember what the title is...)I'm pretty sure the first scene is Connected with Jhope Ego since there were a city shadow... Edit 2:Im gonna talk more but you already talk about it😂
I personally think that the scenes when they are together happily before they arrive to paradise are actually a dream and not real. It just seems to perfect for me to be actually real, and the parts when they are lonely are the real ones.
Im livin for your theories and analyses of the bangtan universe girl All i thought was ‘oh a golden retriever cos the song’s called stay gold.. AMAZING’
Feels like they are showing even though you may be in the darkest place and hard circumstance...you don’t have to be in prisoned your mind can set you free..💜
Once you enter this fandom, you will never NOT be fed with theories. Trust me, I’ve been all about that ever since like late 2014. Making theories for their music videos is a must now, it comes with the package of being an army lmao
There's a poem written by Robert Frost called, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" it goes, "Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower, but only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief. So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay." The sets in Stay Gold really reminded me of the poem, and the fact that the poem is called "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and Bts changed it to Stay Gold is intriguing. Also, the poem talks about youth and we all know youth is connected to Bts, for instance, Young Forever. So maybe this MV is talking about being young and stuff? Idk, just a theory.
I’ve watched another video regarding the mv and they said that at the end of the MV they might be at ‘Magic Island’ from TXT and the scenery looks like the one from GFriends album. The BigHit Universe is kinda big and overwhelming to undestand and all the theories that i have read all made sense. And it may also make even more sense with the release of TXT’s ‘Eternally’ MV and GFriends comeback
i love BTS for who their are, for their hard work to show the world about selflove, educate people the important thing about love, life & respect. BTS always educate us with their song. They unintentionally make us become a good analytical when ever we try to search for the meaning of their MV. We became known alot of great book, great philosopy etc. I Purple U BTS.
im just throwing this out there, but in the book “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, a popular quote from the book is “stay gold.” this might take a while to explain but a short explanation is that 2 characters read a poem saying, “nothing gold can stay.” so u can guess that this means that all good things don’t last forever. however, one of those characters die and their last words are, “stay gold, Ponyboy. stay gold.” if bts were using inspiration from the book, maybe the set looking scenes could be short moments of happiness or even maybe just their imagination. the set looking scenes are also more slowed down and dramatic so it could be a reference to the idea that happiness doesn’t last forever and should be cherished. i guess that could mean the tree scene at the end are the members trying to “stay gold” and be happy forever. (i don’t know about u, but that tree seems pretty magical to me) anyways this is just a rough idea of what the mv could be symbolizing 😅 if you want to make a more in depth idea surrounding S.E. Hinton’s meaning of “stay gold” i think you should! her book “the outsiders” is pretty good and could help understand the “stay gold” mv :D
Great video! Though, I noticed during the flower paradise scene, that there are lilacs. And in flower language, Lilacs represents the joy of youth. Perhaps during this scene, we army (gold) and the flowers are a symbol for the wellbeing of youthfulness. Just a theory.
I love your theories. I saw a direct connection with the dark times we are in right now feeling isolated and despondent. The lyrics telling us to keep positive, stay Gold, because better days will come where we will all be together again. The Eden seen makes me think of how much we will appreciate even the littlest things when we are released from this dark, quarantine, lonely time. So keep positive, stay gold. It will get better and it will seem like Heaven when we're free again. Be well and God bless you all. 🙏💜♾ BigHit + BTS + ARMY = GOLD 💛
It feels magical like in a dream with the gold fairy dust guiding them to peace and tranquility. And yet the ending feels like the are still inside the place... just a piece of my thoughts. XCeleste, thank you for creating your BTS videos. I'm very new in the fandom and your videos helped a lot catching up the years I've missed. Kudos to the team.💜💜💜
The first thing I thought of when I heard the title of this song was "The Outsiders" where Johnny says, "Stay Gold, Ponyboy." Later Ponyboy has a reflection that what Johnny meant was to stay young in your heart because if you can't that doesn't stay. But, then I remembered that the whole thing was a reference to Robert Frost's poem: "Nothing Gold Can Stay." After reading it I think the video pulls some meaning from the poem, but also the meaning behind the poem that Ponyboy reflects on. The beginning dark parts being where they are remorse within their thoughts about the worries of growing older but then remembering and realizing that they can still stay young in their hearts.
I love everything about the music video!! The aesthetics is all the same concept as what BTS is showing in the past songs and music videos. Is all connected, there is parallels. BTS being in the darkness and then getting out of it and into the light, with the love from each other and from Army. They found the spring tree of life and the water pond of life. They found their own magical paradise haven. We all want to go there and have a picnic with BTS in that beautiful haven garden meadow with the flowers and that tree. They all look so good looking and lovely. I love the cute golden dog.
This Stay Gold MV has a lot of direct parallel to the movie "Parasite" by Bong Joon-Ho. The opening scene of Jungkook is looking out a window with a grim view outside, is exactly the same as the opening scene of the movie. J-Hope and Suga's scene in a run down room references the Kim family's semi-underground apartment. Jin's scene lying on a mattress floating on dirty water references the scene when heavy storm floods out the Kim's apartment. RM sitting behind bars is representative of the window security bars of the Kim's apartment as well as the underground bunker where Geun-Sae has been staying. V sitting in a room full of books references the tutoring job that Ki-Woo takes at the Park family. The books that are stacked up also look like the pizza boxes that the Kim family are folding to make ends meet. The scene where all the boys are having a good time outside, J-Hope and Jungkook playing with water, RM with the dog, Jin, reading, V and Jimin playing Jenga, and Suga listening to music, parallels the scene where the rich Park family has a garden party for Da-song's birthday. Jungkook sitting on a sewer space represents the Kim's apartment being flooded by sewage water. Look up "Exploring Visual Language and Symbolism in "Parasite" videos on youtube to catch the references.
The ending scene reminds me of the Magic Island like in TXT’s mv. And the scene where jimin is in the bus I keep thinking he’s on his way to the flowering arboretum I don’t know why🤭😬
I thought it was odd that Yoongi was on a scooter...I didn't think of the video of him being a delivery boy...but he actually WAS a delivery boy pre-debut (I know you know that!), but it made me automatically think of his accident where he fell off the scooter and injured his shoulder. It breaks my heart every time I see a performance when it's obvious he's in pain. There was one Black Swan performance where he only used his right arm in the one part. My poor Yoongles. But those scenes make me think of the birthday party in Spring Day where everyone was happy, having a ball, throwing a cake at RM, but it was actually a sad scene. Are they making this scene look too happy? Too much like a set, instead of a real place like you said? Hmmmm....Big Hit, why you do this to us?? Lol 🤣
Jin is reading A Midsummer Night's Dream the Folgers Shakespeare Library edition....it took me a few different ways to search and some zoomed in screen shots to find it ;) I have been waiting for your reaction and interested to see your thoughts on the video....I think there are theory elements in it even though they don't officially have it labeled as a story line MV.
Gurl I have so been waiting for this video!! Thank you so much!! Love you content so much!! Im always recommending your explanation videos and DKDKTV to new army's and new reactors. Love you queen
This Song Possible references to The Outsiders book by S.E. Hinton.. if you search about If BTS Were “The Outsiders” you will find something.. And Jin is reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a comedy about fairies meddling with human lovers, by William Shakespeare
After V touches the tree pixie dust” “gold dust” travels back to the rooms. Hard to explain but it’s like an infinity; the pixie dust goes to find them they follow it and then V releases the pixie dust and it goes back to the rooms to find them the cycle continues.... something of infinity universe like like the phoenix life
I mostly think about matches like JK and RM, Jin and Tae because remember, Tae said to Jin that has dreams about members but is it real he doesnt know. In Blood Sweat and Tear, JK and RM were looking at the book together.
My theory that they are in the pandemic and sad because they cant be with army..we cant be together. The good points are remembering our time together and eventually we will come out of the darkness and be together again.
I feel like stay golden is a song that describes them not having struggles anymore. It’s a song that describes how they get over their struggles. Those dark scenes are old memory’s and how they felt during those moments, the bright flowers and island is their bright memories being leashed out in the open. The window in the end is the bright future ahead of us. Those sparkles are are us and them. Going into the unknown future ahead of us.
when I first watch this, I thought it was referencing, "the little match girl." Because, when I saw everyone in a poor state, Tae lights up a match, threw it in the butt-load of books, and closed his eyes. He saw him and everyone else happy, feeling of gold, and having everything they had, but then panes back to everybody in a sad, gloomy place. Then it happens again with Jungkook and everyone. As soon as they see light it's back to having everything else that they had and felt. Warmth, clothing, and light, but in the end its just darkness and a broken-down house. this is my theory and, maybe not right, but it's an okay theory😊
I think the peaceful scene where they are all happy. That place was tge magic shop. Remember that BTS say that magic shop is where you can go when ever you feel down (Like that kind of thing they want to say on the song "Magic Shop") And the RM scene just reminds me of him getting arrested because of him fighting. And if you can see all of them has a window in there own scene. Except for Jin (And also maybe RM cause RM is on the chain thing tgere is no window out there but if you consider the chain thing a window then JIN is the only one who does not have a window) (So also Jungkook does not have a window cause his in tge sewer but in the first scene he is actually in the window so yeah) But BTW this is only what i think i dont know if i am right or not
9:28. The tree finally bloomed meaning spring finally came (after the cold winter ends and the flowers they bloomed again until spring decided to come again please stay where you are and wait for me please wait for me) [it hurts but I think it’s in the end becasue you know how time would always stop and they never reach the end always ending up going back to (April 13 I think it was the day Jin would wake up in his bed) and repeat but I think it’s in the futer present when he finally save all the members and spring comes agin ]
The book Jin is reading is Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. I was holding my breath until you spotted the butterfly. Why Midsummer Night's Dream? I have no idea. Maybe it's just coincidence. King Lear would have been more to the point, it has that line about "gilded butterflies". LOL. ###
You know i wanted the theory the moment i realized Jin doesn't have A SINGLE SOLO SCENE LIKE DID BIGHIT SCREW UP OR IS IT BECAUSE HE'S CAUGHT IN THE LOOP AND ISNT SUFFERING LIKE THE REST OF THE MEMBERS OR ITS BECAUSE THIS IS WHEN JIN-
The kitchen place where hobi is sitting, its run down ofc but the walls(?) are kinda of the ones from a carrier train- you know the trains which carry bulky goods and coal and stuff....but it also kinda reminds me of namjoon's container place. If you pay attention just to the walls and not hobi(I know its gonna be so hard) it kinda has ridges on it like the ones you have on the trains. So yeah I'm just sprouting bullshit but yeah Rosan you said things that actually made sense. Keep going! Fighting!
the lake at the end is similar to the one in gfriend and also to jimin's lie trailer , when at the end of the trailer he is seen standing on some sort of a lake in the painting
First there was a poem by Robert Frost, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" (1923): . Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. . Then there was a very famous YA novel, called "The Outsiders", by author S.E. Hinton (1967, she was 18 at the time). In it, a character called Ponyboy recites the poem while watching a golden sunset with his friend Johnny. Subsequently, when Johnny dies, his last words to Ponyboy are "Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold." Later, this novel was made into a movie by Francis Ford Coppola (1983). . Here's the clip of Ponyboy reciting the poem: ruclips.net/video/cOwPaC3ZaQQ/видео.html . And here are Johnny's final words (sorry about the quality): ruclips.net/video/SnZbKOc7EXA/видео.html . Poem to novel to movie to song. Interesting progression, eh? . ###
The window part in the Stay gold chorus part where they’re all happy and stuff for the 2nd time, it reminds me of the bs&t window that tae jumps out of
I'm glad you caught most of the things I did. Joon in the Dope elevator, Yoonie in the room he burned in Fake Love, Jin on the mattress from the VCR last Speak Yourself concert series, TaeKook in the Fake Love rooms and walls, Hobi in the kitchen from Japanese BS&T, Jimin in the NMD bus. The place where the tree from Spring Day is looks like the Magic Island and this is where the BH universes collide.
Ok while you guys discussing about theories, Jhope was holding a hose and looks very happy!😂 Hoseok and Hose are inseparable lol hahaha even the golden retriever knows he/she is in the good hands and nice cute acting. Surprisingly he/she behaves well around those guys😂
I love all the amazing content your channel puts out. Subscribed to Himalaya and your podcast 💜 Thanks for the promo. Do you ever wonder if the mv creators look at ARMY explanations and go...‘woah..that’s deep. Wish we’d thought of that.’ I mean they’ve never owned up to consciously referencing everything ARMY sees in the mv - have they?. Mind you Blood Sweat and Tears And Black Swan are pretty in your face as far as references go ...so yeah. Be great if you were able to interview any of their mv concept development staff. That would be so amazing. Thanks again!
In the looks back at earlier phases of their career...maybe it represents that they were young and poor with not much material items but they were super creative during that time. Maybe 'Stay Gold' references staying young at heart and full of their earlier creativity and appreciation of all they have achieved but also keep growing and learning.
This MV is like baby of Fake Love and Spring Day
Ahh very true!~~
omgg i thought the samee!!
I also thought that
King and Queen have a Daughter.. we got a Princess here..
With 'I need u' as the friend which influenced it to have contrasting shots
I know it’s an interpretation but it felt nice haha. Thank you for that 😅😊
This actually makes a lot of sense
Cynically Hopeful wait....they filmed this during quarantine? Or before it? Because if it was before then thats just crazy because it parallels so much of what is going on in the world rn
“Aww boy that that’s dir- dirty water” 😂
dirty water on my faceu
This is what i was gonna say. When Namjoon was trapped in a cell, that points to when he and taehyung were arrested, but he holds the burden of that incident. When jimin was laying on a mattress with white clothes on, it seems like he’s back in the hospital. There seems to be references to the hotel in hyyh, as well as the tree from Spring Day
Kate, The Kpop Multistan :0
I WILL JUST LEAVE MY THEORIES HERE:
- Jin floating in a mattress on water could be him floating in sadness and misery and the lyric said "I ran to you hide and seek" is Seokjin trying to save the members without them seeing him.
- Yoongi is sitting and looking out the window. (its like he's seeing what's ahead but have no courage to move there)
- Hoseok is in a room (could be his kitchen) next to a window with a flower on the side it reminds me of the one in the book "BTS: THE NOTE" where JK (or Jin) entering their classroom (hideout) and found a flower that written Hoseok under it, he's been planting it for like 2 years. perhaps it remind him of those old days where they were together.
- Namjoon it's like where he got on a fight and got locked up in jail, or could be he feels he's locked in jail bc all the stuff that happened to him and his family and the kid he met at that village (he believe if not for him that kid would have been alive)
- Jimin in a bonded school bus remind me of Jimin in BU where he had the seizure on the bus which resulted in going to the hospital and never return to Hoseok. it was the last time he saw Hoseok (until 2yrs later) but he always gets abandoned by others. he was locked just like how his parents and doctors locked him at the hospital for so long, he's looking out of the window (just in the book when Hoseok asked him why are you still here? he look out the window thinking) seeing cars passing by, it's like everyone is passing by and moving forward while he stuck at the same state/place.
- Tae in what I think is a bonded library and burning a match and remembering the happy days remind me of "little match girl" (basically it's about a lonely girl who when she light match all her family and loved one appear and she becomes happy)
- Jungkook, in the beginning, looking out of the window (he's the only one to look out the window and get closer) he's willing to see outside and change.
when he was being locked it's just him locking himself from people (classmates or members) or people locking him away from them (his family) he feels like an outsider that been locked away from others
I agree
Your theory is helpful.
Personally I feel like it's related to Kafka on the shore. Remember the memories are in a library of our mind.
Your theory matches to save me web toon
20 things you missed
1. hallway, the Jungkook scene approaches the hallway, looks similar to the hallway in the MV Fake Love
2. Window, after jungkook reached the top, he looked at the window, reminding us of the MV Fake Love
3. the birth of Suga's return, this room is a bus for the resurrection of Suga in the MV Fake Love, the tree now is a symbol of new life or a new beginning in the MV Stay Gold
4. Jin's mattress, on MV On Stage: Prologue and Blood, Sweat & Tears Japan
5. Prison RM, reminiscent of Yourself era and Wings era, the scene where RM is trapped in a lift , that there is a telephone booth in MV drama Reflection and Webtoon
6. Bus, reminiscent of the MV No More Dream
7. Competition, When V did a match or lit a match reminded Jungkook's scene of MV Spring Day
8. Golden Retriever, In March Jimin and RM became friends with Golden Retriever
9. Jin reads a book or comic called "A Midsummer Night's Dream" that is a comedy play by William Shakespeare written in the 1950s. the book or comic tells about those who played in the forest with many flower references. basically is about characters finding love
10. Jimin's photo, Jimin's artistic photo, found on MV Stay Gold
11. Jungkook's scene in the MV I Need U
12. The clothes that Jungkook wore were similar to the Fake Love MV
13. Suga's lyrics section that read "Moon" is Jin's solo song
14. Their friendship bracelets (BTS)
15. Kitchen, Scene J-hope is the same in MV Blood, Sweat & Tears Japan
16. A locked door, in the Fake Love Jungkook MV seen in the lock hole of J-hope's door. J-hope can't get out of the room, but a golden light comes out of the door opening. it shows that J-hope was released
17. Suga Scooter, it was reminiscent of when Suga had delivered a collision in Seoul and his shoulder was injured last year and MV For You
18. RM leads the members, just like in MV ON Official
19. Spring, Their scene gathered like MV Spring Day
20. I Purple U , Scene V touches the tree, which is covered by purple moss like ARMY
William Shakespeare was born in 1564 - 1950s is a bit off.

Thank you for your input
I legit though that meme where j hope goes to jimin " you dirt- dirty water spitu"
😂
Same 🤣🤣🤣
1) The place at the end reminds me of magic island.
2) After Tae lit the match and threw it into the books, he closed his eyes like he was committing suicide. (Like suga)
3) Then later, the video shows Tae in the same room with the books and the fireplace, and instead of lighting the books on fire, he lit the fireplace. This shows that Jin could have gone back in time again to save Tae.
This is what I think right now and I am just pointing out the things I noticed.
Woah big brain Army 👏👏👏
Woah!!
-i see Jin here, in Fake Love where Hobi sat in chair in water seems trapped
-RM was trapped same as in WABP Eternal Hobi was trapped in a box
-JK was always unseen or hidden like he was in Fake Love
-Jimin in old No more dream school bus
-i dont see fire here in Stay Gold MV as negative interpretation...for me fire here means 'to glow' as the song also says "glow" when V matched it...for me its mean to be enlighten. to see the light.. since as V lighted it the bright scenes came...while fire in spring day and in suga's parts in BU has negative interpretation...
-for me, scenes when they are together happy, also remember me scenes in run and i need u,...they also been happy when they are together
-i agree that the gold dusts are the army coz when gold splashed i remember the purple light splashed in WABP Eternal
-the key hole, where in Fake Love it was dark, but in this MV, it was bright with golden dust...seems ARMY opened it
-as also in some scenes, like RM,Jin,JK,JM and Suga, these golden dusts seems their light patterns to follow...the golden dusts are their guide...
-the tree where in Spring day it still withered but here it was now bloomed.
-i agree the little whole lake seems like in the BTS LoveYourself campaign teaser
-i also agree that the picture of them together in a lovely place seems same as the ending in WABP Eternal where they wore their BWL attire
-and Tae touched the tree with purple moss delicately...and golden dust came again...seems for me, it how he feels for army. i hope u get me hahaha
-for window, at start it looks like full of dust and gloomy outside...but at the end, with this glowing gold dusts the window shows as bright
these are just all of my own interpretations.
OMG im waiting to watch this.thanks. Ilove it with some points we are seeing same scenes...for me, final thoughts is Stay Gold is a hopeful song and also the MV.😍
The queen has delivered.
I'm not going to comment because you already said it

'Dirty water' I can’t breathe
The place where they are at the end, it's the Magic Island!! (Yes from TXT, with the lac and the tree...) !! I see a lot of theories about that and it totally make sense!! Plus this place is exactilly the same as the one drawn in the photobook of Gfriend's last album ! Because, yes , you have to know that the universe of BTS, TXT and Gfriend are all connected!
The last scene seems to reference TXT's magic island MV and GFRIEND's love whisper MV. Maybe there is a clue on how they are linked under the Big Hit universe.
Lizzie 98 yes definitely there is a youtuber called Laina Sunflower that does big hit universe theory’s you should check her channel
@@bladelogic923 I'm already subscribed.
@@modelstatus3456 I'm agree with you, you are right ☺️
At the end it looks like they are on the Magic Island just like TXT 😱😱😱😱🤯😂
@Asyraff omg I thought that too
BTS universe and TXT universe are connected
Ya same and now txt has new teasers with +u and Gfriend also have new teasers called Butterfly
oh god another link between BU n TU... bighit is making me loose my 1 last brain cell
Yes😂
For me the window at the end is the "light at the end of the tunnel".
I just like to think of this song as being a reminder to Army that though this is a dark time (pandemic) there is light at the end. And the phrase "Stay Gold" is telling us to stay positive and look for all the good things we still have in our lives. And we can find them when we need a little happiness and they can find us when they need a little happiness.😊💛💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The book Jin was reading looks like it said "Summer" and when I think about it. Spring Day looks like it happened in Winter. So I guess it goes like
Winter --> Summer --> Spring
Winter for the dark times they went through
Summer for the time when Army was there for BTS
Spring for the times when they are happy like rn
I think the house is the MAGIC SHOP HOUSE
Im just guessing
You have point
14:17 that corridor with a window was like in the Fake Love where Jungkook runs and the floor starts falling behind him
the way they walk together up the hill reminds me of how they walk up the big rock in ON, abd the cloudy dark sky that then shines gold also reminds me of ON, with the dragon in the sky
As there's no "BU content etc etc" in the description, we know officially it's not directly connected to the storyline... but there's TOO MUCH references in there to be just a coincidence, I strongly believe they put all that on purpose 😂😂
oh and the kitchen where jhope is in for stay gold, it reminds me of the kitchen in bst Japanese version where jimin was
the hallway at the end, it reminds me of fake love.
Im livin for your theories and analyses of the bangtan universe girl
All i thought was ‘oh a golden retriever cos the song’s called stay gold.. AMAZING’
Feels like they are showing even though you may be in the darkest place and hard circumstance...you don’t have to be in prisoned your mind can set you free..💜
*the "paradise" look like magic island from txt universe*
and in gfriends like story book
Once you enter this fandom, you will never NOT be fed with theories. Trust me, I’ve been all about that ever since like late 2014. Making theories for their music videos is a must now, it comes with the package of being an army lmao
THIS IS LITERALLY HALF SPRING DAY AND HALF FAKE LOVE
Jimin always seems to be reaching his hand out to something. In serendipity, in DNA, (in some others) and now again in the bus.
As soon as I got the notification i was like“oh yes! pls god! Celeste help my dumbass"😍😍😍love your videos💜
BigHit + BTS + ARMY =
GOLD 💛
You read my mind!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed this ! 😅
The ending scene reminds me of the Magic Island like in TXT’s mv. And the scene where jimin is in the bus I keep thinking he’s on his way to the flowering arboretum I don’t know why🤭😬
Yes he is going the bus is like from no more dream the yellow bus
“Awwww” same girl same
Well I think they finally reached Magic Island
Ecinner Said I think they where on magic island in the ON mv
I think it does not matter if it is the future or the past, but the fact of being together that makes them happy, stay gold
Stay gold! = stay positive!
I WAITED THIS VIDEO FOR TOO MUCH😍
I thought it was odd that Yoongi was on a scooter...I didn't think of the video of him being a delivery boy...but he actually WAS a delivery boy pre-debut (I know you know that!), but it made me automatically think of his accident where he fell off the scooter and injured his shoulder.
I was stalking this chanel since so long to see this lol
idk why the chorus part gives me spring day vibes, it’s probably because it’s in slow motion.
This Song Possible references to The Outsiders book by S.E. Hinton.. if you search about If BTS Were “The Outsiders” you will find something..
And Jin is reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a comedy about fairies meddling with human lovers, by William Shakespeare
*The tree and lake looks so much like Magic Island. Like, they have the tree and the lake.*
me watching stay gold: i cant stop crying :(
her: THEORY.
Kind of reminded me of "Good Day" 💜💜
After V touches the tree pixie dust” “gold dust” travels back to the rooms.
I love all your explanations and reactions. Thumbs up to you!
i've been watching her reaction videos and i always get goosebumps.
Love your reactions💜💜💜💜💜
OMG i was WAITING for ur notif for this!!!!
Amaygad ive been waiting for your theory cause i honestly foubd out a lot
Thank you! I was waiting for your reaction and theories. Please dive in in a separate video! 🙏💜
Was waiting gurllllll💜💜💜💜💜
I think the peaceful scene where they are all happy. That place was tge magic shop. Remember that BTS say that magic shop is where you can go when ever you feel down (Like that kind of thing they want to say on the song "Magic Shop") And the RM scene just reminds me of him getting arrested because of him fighting. And if you can see all of them has a window in there own scene. Except for Jin (And also maybe RM cause RM is on the chain thing tgere is no window out there but if you consider the chain thing a window then JIN is the only one who does not have a window) (So also Jungkook does not have a window cause his in tge sewer but in the first scene he is actually in the window so yeah) But BTW this is only what i think i dont know if i am right or not
Yes ! I've been waiting for this 😃
Yes!! I've been waiting for this vid of yours ❤❤
I am so excited to watch this video!! 💜
Yayyy I've been waiting for your reaction!
I feel like to me the place where they’re all happy and playing could be the magic shop?
April or magic island
oh oh
The book Jin is reading is Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. I was holding my breath until you spotted the butterfly.
Why Midsummer Night's Dream? I have no idea. Maybe it's just coincidence. King Lear would have been more to the point, it has that line about "gilded butterflies". LOL.
###
The tree decaying and the last scene is something like a epilogue that, "nuh armys it's not the end" 👀💜
You know i wanted the theory the moment i realized Jin doesn't have A SINGLE SOLO SCENE LIKE DID BIGHIT SCREW UP OR IS IT BECAUSE HE'S CAUGHT IN THE LOOP AND ISNT SUFFERING LIKE THE REST OF THE MEMBERS OR ITS BECAUSE THIS IS WHEN JIN-
but he does right? when he's on the mattress I think
I love when she explain things, thank youuu
The kitchen place where hobi is sitting, its run down ofc but the walls(?) are kinda of the ones from a carrier train- you know the trains which carry bulky goods and coal and stuff....but it also kinda reminds me of namjoon's container place. If you pay attention just to the walls and not hobi(I know its gonna be so hard) it kinda has ridges on it like the ones you have on the trains.
So yeah I'm just sprouting bullshit but yeah Rosan you said things that actually made sense. Keep going! Fighting!
Aww this what im waiting for
I recommend you to watch Min Yoongi!'s theory video I think it can make you have more preferences... ❤❤
I was waiting for STAY GOLD'S reaction !!!
the lake at the end is similar to the one in gfriend and also to jimin's lie trailer , when at the end of the trailer he is seen standing on some sort of a lake in the painting
magic island
First there was a poem by Robert Frost, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" (1923):
.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
.
Then there was a very famous YA novel, called "The Outsiders", by author S.E. Hinton (1967, she was 18 at the time). In it, a character called Ponyboy recites the poem while watching a golden sunset with his friend Johnny. Subsequently, when Johnny dies, his last words to Ponyboy are "Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold." Later, this novel was made into a movie by Francis Ford Coppola (1983).
.
Here's the clip of Ponyboy reciting the poem:
ruclips.net/video/cOwPaC3ZaQQ/видео.html
.
And here are Johnny's final words (sorry about the quality):
ruclips.net/video/SnZbKOc7EXA/видео.html
.
Poem to novel to movie to song. Interesting progression, eh?
.

I was waiting for it
I have never done so much on research in my studies as I am doing the thesis of BTS MV!!
Ok I usually don't do this but first
Loved it🔥 Awesomeness 😍💕 Thanks again Keep Safe 😷💜💜
Namjoon is in the elevator from DOPE
I wish my reaction was like this, but I just kept smiling and singing with him😂ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Yes queen
In the looks back at earlier phases of their career...maybe it represents that they were young and poor with not much material items but they were super creative during that time. Maybe 'Stay Gold' references staying young at heart and full of their earlier creativity and appreciation of all they have achieved but also keep growing and learning.
I'm here for the boys 💜...
But just curiosity...Does anyone know why she changed her previous reaction to private?
9:53 It’s not ashes it’s pixie dust in shaped of butterflies
