IT was actually called Budd Hall. I still have 5 friends that text together to this day. No hanger punishments. We were called the lousy 2% from our exploits. My brother is featured on the old score board. A star football player. Note: we're ALL good, successful, tax paying citizens today. Tough? Yep. We went through it together. It produced a car designer,Nissan plant engineer, head nurse, master's high school principal, Lowe's compliance head, wonderful Wal-Mart career, long distance marathon runner. FYI. 😎
Don't get me wrong, also as a successful Nashville musician,no one loves the Allman brothers more than me. Psychologists say,85% of families are dysfunctional. Me,my fellow cadets included. The lousy 2%(us)takes great pride knowing the legendary pair attended CHMA!!!👍
✨Yes! This was an awesome vlog on the Alman Brothers! You cover so many interesting topics, stories and places. I like that you have always stayed true to covering things that are interesting to you. That authentic style is why you are my favorite vlogger over all these years I have been watching. To be honest I don’t really watch anyone else in this type of category. I watch other female lifesty and beauty vloggers though. Thanks Jordan. ~Love&Light♥️Carli
@chadhall5091 Dickey Betts burial site is unknown I believe but there was room for him in the fenced in area where the rest of the Allman Brother's band is buried. It's easy to find.
Sad but interesting stories. Can't say I agree with the dodging the draft. None of those men really wanted to be there. I enjoy their music. Thanks for telling their stories. Take care.
I've seen a couple of interviews that Greg Allman did and he seemed like a real nice guy. His son, the one he had with Cher is gorgeous. He looks like Greg too.
I attended Castle Heights Military Academy. I started in the 8th grade and graduated five years later. I lived on campus and though I thought I hated it, turns out it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Teenage boys do not want structure and discipline even though those are the very two things they need. Not everyone could "hack" that lifestyle and many left and spent their lives blaming the Academy for their short comings. A far greater number of cadets have gone on to be great leaders and positive role models for others. I'm sorry the brothers had a bad experience.
Even though most of the Vietnam generation was against the war, I wondered after reading Gregory's book, if part of their issue had to do with the loss of their father immediately after his return from WW2.
Hey you are just down the street from my home! How long are you going to be in and around Nashville? I’ve lived in this area my whole life, but never knew the Allman Brothers were students at Castle Heights.
Had a friend in the Marines …Tony who was from Georgia..he would say that Lynyrd Skynyrd was better than the Allman Brothers and I would say you don’t know music

Thanks Jordan, I’m from Jacksonville and I’ve followed all your Southern Rock vlogs. Went to school with Berry Oakleys daughter.

Nice thank you for sharing watching from the uk Tina
I wonder if this academy inspired them at all to compose the song Whipping Post. Great story, Jordan.
Great volg Jordan
Such a good vlog! Thank you!
I live in Lebanon. I used to see those kids walking around the streets when I was younger
I can't imagine being in a military school
Their Father was tragically murdered right down the road from where I live in Norfolk, VA. RIP Mr. Allman ❤
I saw the Allman Brother many times. I saw the most infamous concert when Zakk Wylde sat in for Dickey in 93.

Hey kid, ya got great taste. It warms my heart to know young folks even KNOW who The ABB WERE! JAH RULES.
Would have been great if you'd actually talked with someone that knew the school and went there. The ignorance of my alma mater is pretty ridiculous.
I went there 4 years. The brothers were there during that time. Too much exaggerating.
I agree, Jeff.
Cool
I am sad about their father being taken out. Tragic. Interesting.
