Thanks for showing this approach to a frustrating problem with these bikes. One thing I’ve done recently to start my 05 is before I start it, I’ll put it in 2nd & push it backwards to force that cylinder to decompress. Then she fires right up for me. I’m going to remove the tank and try to adjust those decompression system cables. Want to get this thing starting up for me without have to do any special tricks. Glad there’s videos like this as these tricks are good to know in case you get stuck out there miles from home.
Your welcome and thank Suzuki for underpower of the starter. No decompression valve's needed if they would have just used a bigger starter and upgraded the wiring all the way around.
This should be in the mind of every owner of these 1500s; suzuky came up with a **MONUMENTAL** joke with the decomp system trying to start two HUGE 750cc cylinders with a mickey mouse 14AH little battery, instead of just using a 45AH battery; (if you try and hook up some jumper cables to a car battery , you won't need the decomp,it will start every time).
dude you just saved my life thank you my bike has been down for two weeks because I never knew this and the starter tested good so I was worried about wiring or something I mean these Suzuki shop didn't even tell me anything like this so thank you 1000 times I live in Florida and ride my motorcycle year-round as my main mode of transportation
Your welcome and I'm glad it helped you. This video was too show a guy that he was wrong and you can use your hand to open those decompression valve's. I have a c50 now
I could not get mine to start , battery ok but no ignition , was just about to start stripping it down to test starter solenoid, I just happened to pull clutch in and out a few times and bless me it started!
Yea i understand your frustration with the engineering on these bikes. That clutch switch has a junk piece of plastic for its switch. I quit dealing with mine and just jumped the connector that goes to it with a piece of wire. I dont recommend doing this for saftey reasons, and it should only be used for emergency purposes to get you back on the road toward the next MC shop. I recently sold my bike , for a car . and now I regret to say i have neither one. Long story i was going through some marital issues that made me leave NM and head to Florida on the bike. No money no job and no family. I traded the bike for a sonata and i got my kids and then the crazy Florida people showed themselves and thier true nature of why they wanted me to come there and heal my heart. So i left headed back to NM and found my wife had given all my tools and valuables away to her felon sancho who is in jail awaiting a 10 to 15 term or i would have taken him to the country and taught him a lesson on why we dont steal and threaten to kill my kids or hit women. So i lost more than i ever had in just a few months. i have credit now that is useless with this economy and interest rate hike. My next bike will be a brand new one and probably the biggest one i can get. Thank you for enjoying the video and Glad you fixed it!
Well I am at work right now! I am going to try this when I get home! I hope it starts!! I was very disappointed it wouldn’t start last night!! First time I tried this year
I have a 05 c50 that's sat for a year bike would crank but wouldn't start now lights come on but don't hear fuel pump and doesnt crank. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.
I have the exact same bike, same color, and even removed the tank decal and the stupid plastic piece which covers the chrome on the top of the tank, just like yours. Trying to find a video on how to drain the fuel tank.
Hey friend. I have a 98 intruder LC 1500. I have a real high idel what would cause it. Or can i adjust my idel on my carb. This is my first bike. And you gave me a pointer with the decompression so thought to ask you. If anyone has a idea im open. She rides smooth just has a high idel i jave to keep it in the friction zone at stops to keep it from wanting to go to space lol
I can start mine up and ride it for how ever long I want but when I shut it off I have to wait a while before it fires back up Could that be what's wrong with mine?
That's going to be a stator or pickup coil. You can pick up a Honda one for about 10 bucks and it goes in the cover on the left side of the engine. Replace both at the same time and upgrade the wiring to a mod 3 and you will never have that issue again
Take that side panel off and gas tank. It's easy to get to that celinoid for the decompression valves. Starter is easier to change. Just unbolt it and replace it. The celinoid is under the left side of that fake tank cover. Plus you need crowtis.com for all things Suzuki gs.
Thanks for your video! i have the same problem, but i cannot move my valve the way you do! you turn it more than i can, is that my problem? still failing everytime
Okay if it was me and I knew I could not physically open that valve by hand. I'm not a very strong guy in my hands I was a truck driver forever so... Mine might have been loosened off on the adjustment. If you need to know how to adjust those go look at crowitis.com
I would also suggest to try to open that valve before you start the bike that makes it a little easier for those Pistons to move without all that compressed air in there and it will also help the starter life over the period of its life. I'm sure there's a million other people that could probably look at that valve and say oh man easy solution before you go to start it up do this and then pull it out and it'll work every time. I don't have this issue or that bike anymore but I love helping people out I own a 2004 now I'll stop one owner besides me and I have never had a problem with this one. Yet. Just remember there's a solution to this besides the engineering that they obviously tried to over engineer to either save money or use a surplus of parts that they needed to make use of.
@@travislynn21 Thank you so much! i always try to help people too. I bought a new celinoid too, maybe it would help? this saturday i'm gonna replace it. And with the valve... i mean, i didn't tried to move the valve with my hand forcing it... and i think solenoid do not move it that far, that's why i didn't tried... Also i've always thought this bike have a very weak battery, only 12A for those pistons... hmmmm with the battery fully charged i don't have that problem, i will replace it in a close future for a lithium one. Again, thank you for your answers and your time!
@@GatoRockYou if it doesn't work, there is a relay under that right fake tank cover . That was my issue. I put it back in after getting a new one and the wire from the selinoid instantly went Orange. No key or nothing.

Yes that wire did melt. There is a relay on that wire that controls the decompression celinoid. I replaced it with the same one and no key on not realizing it wasn't the new one. Just a small fire but the plastic melted quicker than I could pull the relay. No damage really done. Sorry for replying so late.

Well I agree it's no good for the life of riding it. On Facebook a guy told me I couldn't do it with my finger. Well my cylinder that controls that decompression valve was bad along with a the relay that sits about 5 inches back towards the rear of the fake gas tank cover on that right side. If it doesn't start sometimes replace the relay first before adjustment of those decompression valve's. I knew mine was bad and plugged it back in without the key on, and I watched the wire coating become a flame with a red hot wire after.
