I've seen different variants of the Rocky Ridge in black with different group sets. My 97 came with XT/LX, but this 98 came with lower STX/Avid gear. I've not seen a 1998 catalogue, only the 97 and 99, so I can only assume the 97 frame was built with lower spec components to sell off, rather than repaint the frame left in stock.
@@TheRetroBiker i feel the same way...i remember going into the bicycle chain as a teenager when it was on taunton road and seeing the GT Zaskar frame hanging from the ceiling shinning like the holy grail🤣🤣
I know what you mean, if it wasn't such hard work selling whole bikes I'd spend a bit of money in it and re-home it. The bike I've just picked up will definitely be staying in one piece and definitely staying in my collection, watch this space 😁
Thanks dude, that's my wife's car. It is a true sheep in wolves clothing....1600cc petrol, absolutely no power through any part of the rev range ha ha. It does give great gas mileage though.

Really enjoying your content...take me back to when i was a teenager in Victoria park-Bridgwater in the 90s. Great days.
Awesome to hear thanks, all these bikes take me right back to when I was a teenager too, most of them were way out of my budget then though.

Such good memories!
Nice find and I love the super quick spruce up! I refuse to go on facebook so I guess I will not pick up any bargains like this!.
Thanks, it was not the best job but still fun to do. Man your missing out on a few good deals on Facebook, I get why you'd avoid it though!
Airevalley cycles was in keighley. It has shut down now.
Wow, that's a long way from where it ended up when I bought it. Guess the previous owner must have moved.
New chain and cassette on that bike mate
This one is set to be broken for parts sadly.
Seems like a pretty good deal for $25. I guess it makes sense to sell off its parts. It still seems kind of sad.

Like the flaired hood on the Nissan. What are you Brits getting under the hood on those suburban grocery getters.

I have the same bike. I don't understand why there is a gap between the diatech clamp and the plastic bearing cover. Mine also has it.
I'm not sure which but you mean? Hopefully it's meant to be there if both our bikes have the gap though ha ha.
I’ve got a couple of spare Kona frames if your interested 👍
No!!! Don't tempt me, enabler!!!.... Ok what have you got? 😂

This period correct or catalogue correct?
Nearly I think but not quite.
