Not really its more about the cars and engines are running on their capacity limit and that takes way more stress on the equipment. A factory who builds a car from the ground up, like Porsche with the 918 as he used as an example. You can build it so that it will produce 900 hp without running on the limit of what the materials can take. Take an R35 GTR as an example. Stock theyre solid cars and fairly reliable even on the track. Tuned, not so much (despite what people claim). Theyre built for their stock power, not for 1000 hp+

Just a reminder once you exceed 4 hours per cubic inch. Generally it won't hold together. In some cases 3:1 can come apart even if properly built/tuned.
McLaren disagrees. 3.8's and 4.0's not breaking till 1,300-1,500 HP. Lamborghini also disagrees. 5.2's don't start to be problematic on stock internals till over 1,500-1,800 HP. Building those motors you can be reliable over 2,000 HP. Some will even argue they're reliable to 3,000 HP. Maybe that applies to mass produced 4 cylinders or even just NA motors on the whole.
@@EMFAudio Mechanically, sure. The rotating assemblies can handle those levels. But many of the stock Lamborghinis suffer cooling issues. It starts to become a real challenge to get all the systems to fit in those sleek packages and get good airflow to radiators. At a certain point, the extra weight of the cooling required offsets the utility of an engine that can post high numbers on a crank dyno. More power always = more heat to deal with and the little things, random hoses and lines, don't appreciate it. The drive-line clutches cannibalize themselves. Personally, I think north of about 700whp, you are looking at system issues, even if you have a bullet proof motor.
The A80s in this series should explain to all of the internet that thinks it is a standard that every single one needs 1000whp, a TRD front lip, TRD wing and Mickey Thompsons on the rear with Weds wheels why its not a good idea. I've been at 700 for almost 4 years without a single hiccup 😁
I was wondering if the title was "Sorted" or "Sordid". LOL @Matt Farah, at 1:56 you state that "there is a disconnect..." between the numbers and what people want in regards to homebuilt vs pro tuner cars, and that what the audience really wants is to see cars where they can "call that shop and get that exact experience in my driveway." I disagree - especially with the calling the shop part; that's not a story, that's boring. No, the real gearhead/petrolhead wants to see and hear snippets about how the builder got the car to where it is. They want build stories with trials, tribulations and the underdog victory. How popular is "Wheeler Dealers"? Or was "Myth Busters"? They show the road to the product, and that is the story as well as the info on how to get "that experience" in my driveway (even without being a millionaire). Not a phone call...
I will love sorted however they go, but i think without home build we will miss out on more jems like " What did you rev it to? X " please make that a Sorted shirt
Home Brew vs Shop should be a second part of the sorted lineup just because the home brews like the clunk bump supra only get showing because Matt sat on his Gucci couch and clicked buttons and picked colors of the rainbow.

Just a reminder once you exceed 4 hours per cubic inch. Generally it won't hold together. In some cases 3:1 can come apart even if properly built/tuned.
Fuck autocrrect. 4 HORSEPOWER
The best racecar immediately breaks down after it crosses the finish line.
problem is these ones don't even make it to the line
Good stuff!!

OFF I GO to binge watching "SORTED" and then i'll come back so i don't get spolers in this video.
I spotted Rob SuperSpaghettis!
LOL
@Matt Farah, at 1:56 you state that "there is a disconnect..." between the numbers and what people want in regards to homebuilt vs pro tuner cars, and that what the audience really wants is to see cars where they can "call that shop and get that exact experience in my driveway." I disagree - especially with the calling the shop part; that's not a story, that's boring. Not a phone call...
big data tells a different story
Please do one on the 1000HP turbo Honda vans. They are really clean looking, too, heh.
You mean what Sports Compact Car and Car and Driver did in the early 2000 Matt.
The Optima Ultimate Street Car series is a way more "sorted" competition.
I'm always dancing with the music during the intro!
Dear Matt! You need to remember that this known shop started at home builds. That make them who they are now
...that has nothing to do with the data...
I'm chill watching this with a barely hitting 100 hp 2001 Fiat Brava 😊
I much prefer the home built stories, more soul and passion.
The aftermarket manufacturers speak volumes in these modified cars. Are they realistic in applying their parts to increase performance and reliably.
