This is what can define a "Survival Horror" game, you could take out most of the obstacles but not the main enemy that you have to hide from. I remember playing Outlast and everything in this game takes it steps further, especially since it is a very NON-LINEAR game. Despite that is has one of the hardest achievements (which Outlast 1 had the easier achievements to complete) and it is getting to the end without dying. That's like beating Doom on Ultra-NIGHTMARE (not to be confused with ultra-violence and regular nightmare).
The best part is the game is paced in a way that you're not hiding from the alien the entire time, you get breathing room to cool down before the next section where the Alien truly starts hunting you again.
What made Isolation stand out to me decade earlier was how (if you had mic or kinect etc.) the Alien could hear you through it. I played it on Xbox One when it released and I had kinect. That added so much to the immersion ’cause the camera would watch your movement in real life and if you lean, so does the character, if you yelp due to being jump scared or something, the Xenomorph heard you and so on. I’ve tried to get the game work with Mother VR-mod, which would be a dream come true, but sadly I haven’t got that one working. Hopefully one day. Great review though man!
