- Clint Eastwood’s forthcoming film “Richard Jewell” centers around the security guard who was wrongly suspected of setting off a bomb at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. Richard Jewell spotted a suspicious backpack during a concert at Centennial Olympic Park and raised the alarm, helping to evacuate spectators. But as the area was being cleared, a nail bomb inside the backpack was triggered by a timer and exploded. One woman was killed and more than 100 people were injured. #InsideEdition

@@SUGAR_XYLER my grandfather was employed by Mr Eastwood at a California ranch venture in the early 70s. According to my dad Mr. Eastwood did much of the same work he hired the cowboys for.
He was a hard working guy who took the same risks as the others simply for the raw enjoyment of hard living. What a man he was and is.

Well, it actually is common for guards to plant stuff then "find" bombs making themselves heros. It is well known volunteer firefighters will start the very fires they fight. He did fit the profile, but so did every other security guard that day. Why they leaked only his name, have no idea.

Seen almost the entire movie in a theatre. However something went wrong with the film projection and the movie stopped halfway thru.

Excuse me if I don't feel sorry for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Among other things they falsely claimed that Jewell contacted them seeking publicity and Scruggs' falsely claimed the Jewell "had a sample of the blown-up bomb". They even had a columnist compare Jewell to serial killer Wayne Williams. Inside Edition neglected to mention that Scruggs died of a drug overdose. By the way, the movie is great. I've seen it twice.
