    I was inspired by you and created a list called: Bags to buy in 20 years. From time to time I add bags that are too trendy at the moment but will gladly pay 300$-400$ for them later, like a Gucci marmont velvet bag. 💕

    Thanks so much Mel! I just bought a vintage bag from the early 1990s that I couldn’t afford when it originally came out in the 90s. It was so satisfying being able to finally add it to my collection.

    Love vintage bags too! I will also add, as a Canadian subbie...factoring in the additional costs for exchange, shipping, taxes, duty is very important...it adds up quickly and can add significantly to the overall price. I always try to purchase from Canadian resellers for that reason. I have also found a few vintage designer pieces in thrift and consignment stores.

    Great tips Melissa! Thank you! I’ve been dabbling in vintage during this quarantine! It’s been fun! I have found some great vintage vuitton pieces in excellent condition for great prices too! Gonna try some top handle Chanel bags too. Don’t want a flap at all! I’ll know it when I see it!

    Warning!!! The Dior camera bag and a lot of Galliano bags from that era have piping around the bag that is crumbling off. I was so sad because I love the designs but was disappointed with the crumbling. Love the video :)

    What an amazing video! Thanks for sharing. Vintage is different for all - some need to buy vintage to get better pricing, while others have more of a vintage style. Regardless of why you are considering vintage this “guide” is such a gift! It can be really tricky and trusting strangers is not easy. Thanks again! And lemme know when you get tired of your vintage denim bags. 😬😜🤣

    Thanks so much for the tips Mel! I’ve been looking into the vintage market a lot lately. I can’t tell if it’s the resell sites I’m using or the items I’m searching but I feel like a lot of the items are so over priced! I’ve been looking at LV denim, LV multicolore, and vintage Fendi across all the second hand apps. I wonder if maybe I need to find a smaller niche seller or find a piece I can restore myself 🤔 many times I think to myself “I can buy a brand new bag for that price” or at least half a bag 😅

    Good stuff. I'm really into vintage/second hand bags, and have some amazing bargains acquired over the years. I totally agree about buying what you like. Why go for what everyone else is chasing! All the great designers have created many beautiful bags, not just the 'it' bags. And you're far less likely to get a fake if you broaden your horizons beyond the obvious.

    I love vintage shopping! But how do you know when it’s too much to spend on a vintage piece? How do you determine price for each bag/brand?

    • @MelissaSoldera
      @MelissaSoldera  4 года назад +2

      I set my limit of what I’m willing to spend. Search the sites; see the pricing everyone is showing. I also go in with a set budget that I am willing to spend and don’t go over it.

      I think it’s less about the number of years, but more about the design. Simple and minimalist design with classic silhouette/shape tends to be more timeless. I have two vintage Chanel, one from 91-94 and another from 98. They don’t look dated at all, and you’d see similar shapes and styles still in the market (not only by Chanel but other brands), and I don’t mean the classic flaps they were seasonal bags that don’t get made anymore.
