Confide in me was the turning point in her career. This was the moment she started showing her vocal chops and her understanding the creation of a vibe and a moment.
Absolutely lol! 😂 👑Impossible👸Princess👑 is a brilliant album👍 As most fans know, it was horribly misunderstood & underrated @ the time of it's release 📀 Also the passing of Princess Diana proved problematic for the UK release of the album 🇬🇧 Furthermore, Kylie experienced problems with the record label. She wanted the song 🌟Limbo🌟 to be released as the lead single but Deconstruction opted for 💋Some Kind Of Bliss💖 instead. Luckily, the tour was a hit & Light🌟Years was just around the corner👍 Fun fact: a few years ago, the vinyl release of 🌈Impossible👸Princess🌟 scored a higher chart position than when it was originally released.
Kylie signed up with a new record company for this album, called Deconstruction. They gave her a whole lot of creative freedom. This and the next album, Impossible Princess, are credited as her most experimental ones and most fans have a special place in their hearts for these two
Kylie's R&B tinged eponymous album contains the strongest vocals of her career. Back when the Vocal Trinity had EVERYONE raising their vocal game. Sing for real or get lost.
This album is amazing, in my top three from her I’d say, but trust me when I tell you that it KEEPS GETTING BETTER. This is definitely the start of peak Kylie, next is Impossible Princess which is her Ray of Light (in terms of artistic experimentation, risks, and depth; its a wild ride but a very much needed one), and from there she just finds her sound and her career peaks. Excited to keep watching your deep dive!
So this is her first album not under the PWL label, which were like a British Motown that defined the sound of the late 80's in the UK, she was like their Diana Ross, the Princess of the label if you will, but by the early 90's their sound was no longer popular and she had massively outgrown them. She signed to Deconstruction a British Indie dance label, in the early 90's and so begun the second act of her career dubbed ''Indie Kylie''. This is the first album under the label and saw her expand her sound and aim herself at a more adult and ''cool'' audience. Personally for me it is one of her best and most underrated and often overlooked albums, but is instrumental in where she would go from here and vocally she has never sounded better. Though this period is her least commercially successful, it is probably her most artistically interesting and she made music she would never ever really make again.
Perfect comment. Recently Kylie and her management makes everything they can to explore things as much as possible commercially speaking, it’s less likely that she would take risks creatively again. Don’t get me wrong, I still like her and support her projects, at least we have this rich discography to enjoy
I have literally been waiting over a year until he gets to Impossible Princess - one of my most favorite album of all time, made me an ultimate Kylie stan
I love kylie Deconstruction era her both album Kylie and impossible princess for me are her best work until today, especially Impossible princess is my all time favorite album from Kylie.
Kylie's been around since the 80s and have always loved her and her music! She was one of my preteen pop idols 🥰 She's been going 5 decades now with hit pop/dance/disco songs! I don't think she gets as much credit here in N America that she deserves imo So glad that you're exploring her discography! Cant wait to see your reaction to many of her other great albums and songs ❤
You said something that ended up being unintentional, it's Kylie's trademark, classified as Kylie's song: a sad, depressing song, which gives a feeling of happiness, well-being. The song Where is the feeling, for the video clip, a very dark remix version was used, which is incredible. This is, as you noticed, an album to listen to on the speaker, feel it, very experimental. Unafraid to want him to be popular...following a vision.
You need to check out the official music video to WHERE IS THE FEELING!!! Such departure from the album/studio version! 😳😳😳 at the time I was like why would you do that!!! But now I think as always she’s so ahead of her time & edgy & experimental!!!! I bloody love it/HER!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I agree with you on the length of the two dance tracks. They tend to pull me out of the vibe at the end of the album, especially Falling. This was 1994 though, so those songs were huge in the club, but I agree that they should have used edits on the album. So glad you made it to this point, as this is where Kylie’s artistry starts to shine and she begins a constant state of reinvention through the 90’s and 2000’s. Preobably one of my least favorite albums of hers, though one of her best vocally. Put Yourself In My Place is my favorite track. Like many comments before, Where Is The Feeling was drastically remixed for the single release, so I’m interested to see your thoughts on the sound of that. Also note that the next album Impossible Princess is another drastic departure from this, as is Light Years from that. Aside from these albums, Kylie also begins to release a plethora of B-sides during this time throughout the 90’s and 2000’s with a lot of them being fan favorites. It’s probably a lengthy process going through each album era, but you should consider doing a b-side video for each decade (she literally at one point did an Anti Tour that consisted of mostly b-sides because there are so many).
The deconstruction era at the time just a few years after bopping to lets get to, it was a bit of a culture shock. But now with maturity its by far her superior catalogue of work. After this it always seemed to be will baker moulding her into a contrived show pony to milk everyone of their pink currency. Worked a charm and still does. But this to me was kylie at her most authentic and clearly enjoying every moment.
After let's get to it, Kylie left her record label as she wanted more creative control of her music. This and the next album represent an artist discovering her own capabilities and creativity. Both albums are equally important but are chalk and cheese musically. She lets loose vocally on this album, and lyrically on the next. My two favourite singles are from this album. Confide in me and put yourself in my place. My two favourite all time Kylie tracks are from her next album... Limbo and dreams. Looking forward to finishing this reaction and to the next one 💙
The “oh god oh man” reference is Ryan ONeil in “Tough Guys Don't Dance” 🕺🏻 But also, if you like “Confide In Me” you should check out the video clip! Its iconic.
Love this. The only album with so many real instrumental elements! Confide in me , Surrender, Where is the feeling? - are the winners! I must say - after watching all live performances of Confide in me - she never managed to match the studio version with softness and effortless vocals.
For anyone who wants to hear more good quality songs from that period that were either discarded or used as B-sides Kylie Demos 1994:ruclips.net/p/PLp2KmcEdMCoBA8QxGMUejAtrOcFFMKN1n&si=XToGk-y6dNnXq4wI
…it would be great to see what you’d think of the UK Single mix of Where Is The Feeling (BIR Dolphin Mix) that was used in the video. I bought my album in Tokyo and it had a few songs which I hope you can check out too. “Love Is Waiting ”, “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” and “If You Don’t Love Me”
How long do we have to wait for IMPOSSIBLE PRINCESS???? My all time favourite album!!! First where she wrote every track!!! While traveling across route 66 😍😍😍😍😍 so geniusly written!!!!!! 😍😍😍🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Welcome to the underrated/misunderstood/messy Deconstruction era of 🌈KYLIES🌟 career. Kylie🤓Minogue was a great exercise in experimentation. I wasn't keen on this album it was great because it's signalled a new direction, but a lot of the dance songs just sound like b sides fillers. I think you will love impossible princess though. It's Britney's blackout and Madonna's ray of light
I worked in a restaurant when this album came out. And we had it continuously playing day after day. Even one customer said, every time he came in, Confide in Me was always on 😂😂😂😂
Kylie’s vocals will continue to morph into the 00s to a more continued use of a breathy style. Prob a mix of style change and vocal technique and training for tours. It’s hard to belt out for the majority of a a show as she did in her early career
Where Has The Love Gone!!! - My absolute favourite from the album ***** Confide In Me, Automatic Love, Falling, Put Yourself In My Place, Dangerous Game and Surrender, STUNNING * Absolute quality + No love for "Put Yourself In My Place" on your list - oh no! * It is DIVINE! * Check out "Where Is The Feeling" single remix, much more dangerous and darker. "Automatic Love" is almost what "Dangerous Game" should have been as it is much more dangerous. Everyone praises this album as her first artistic album but I still will always prefer "Let's Get To It" - This album can get a tad boring even though the quality is there. Is till LOATHE "Time Will Pass You By" - I hated it in 1994 and still do (Vomit) ... Her range after Impossible Princess unfortunately goes to the shit. Kylie's new music is "CORPORATE POP SHIT" - Unfortunately. She is a "Tik Tok" generation pleasing person now and no longer an artist! ... I am DYING for your "Impossible Princess' reaction - It is literally a work of ART!!!!!!
