@timothy chung She is the queen in the sense that she is the best at what she does. Cindy's print work is no where near as high fashion as Linda, and Linda had a better presence in the runway despite both not being the best runway walkers. She was the favorite of Vogue Italia, the most high fashion of all Vogues, and a favorite of many designers, photographers, fashion editors and critics, and modeling agents. Linda was also a much more versatile model. In fact, she is referred to as the Chameleon. Many girls just look pretty in certain clothes, but Linda portrayed the style that the clothes were meant to evoke. She could wear Valentino or Dior evening gown for a sophisticated look, a Versace dress for sexy Amazonian goddess look, a Chanel jacket for a classic Parisian look, an Armani or Saint Laurent tuxedo for a clean-cut edgy look, a Donna Karan or Calvin Klein blazer for a minimalistic and professional look, a Thiery Mugler or Galliano dress for a dramatic and avant garde look. Difference between her and Cindy was that she wore the clothes. The clothes never wore her. Cindy's beauty was less adaptable and more one dimensional, relying mostly on sex appeal and commercial beauty. Cindy marketed better for the masses because she was an American. She was America's favorite. She oozed sex appeal but with the approachable girl next door look for men to love and not feel intimidated by. That is why most straight men knew her name unlike Linda's. Girls also loved her because she was an overall great role model for young girls as she was a humble Midwestern girl with beauty and brains, being class valedictorian and getting a full scholarship to Northwestern to study for a chemical engineering degree. She diversified her career by becoming a TV host for House of Styles, establishing her own brand with furniture and skin care, inspiring models like Tyra Banks. Cindy was a symbol of feminism despite she never intentially aimed to be one. She represented the American values that the dominant American media liked to show. She was the Wonder Woman of modeling. Sexy, strong, independent, driven, inspirational, etc. But when we are simply talking about just modeling, and not marketing, branding, being the highesr paid, etc, Linda was the queen in that respect. Comparing Cindy to Linda is like comparing Jennifer Lawrence to Meryl Streep. One is the highest paid actress, but not necessarily the most talented. She still gets love from the critics for her talwnr, but the other in particular is simply respected and venerated for her pure talent. She doesn't need all the extra feats. Just be good at her profession.
@timothy chung Your opinion is beyond stupid. I worked with Cindy, Linda, Naomi, Yasmeen, Claudia, Nadja, Iman, Grace, Katoucha, Adriana, Erin and Eve. And by working i mean modeling. In an industry as racist as the fashion industry (especially in the 90s) judging the best model by how much she was going to get paid is ridiculous. Of course white models where going to get paid more and land better endorsement contracts. I am Scandinavian, British, Russian, French but i an also part Inuit and Kalbeliya Indian, and when i worked with Greg Hansen, Marcus, Albert Delegue, Jason Lewis etc, even for me it was difficult to land big endorsement because i do not have naturally blond hair but straight jet back one, because my eyes are deep green not light blue. It was the 90s the reign of the Aryan Race in the fashion industry. I worked with Madonna and for that i had to bleach my hair platinum because i didn't look Scandinavian "enough" , and when i bleached my head it landed me a contract with Dolce and then Gaultier, Paco Rabane and when i died it black again, the japanese market opened to me.because my hairless body, straight black hair but western features and green eyes made it less drastic in Japan than the Aryan look. This industry is all about how you look and you ethnic background, Name me 5 black supermodels from the 90s or before. Grace and Iman never got paid what Naomi made and Naomi never made what Cindy and Linda made back then. And i never made as much as Marcus or Jason. As for coloured male models don't even think about it in the 90s, Tyson was the only one and i still landed better endorsement than him in spite of him being far more famous than me who was a complete nobody. Why because he is black , so fame and money have nothing to do with each other and judging a model on his or her earnings is completely retarded. Linda was insanely beautiful, no doubt about that but she wasn't that nice and was acting very superior. Linda, Naomi and Cindy were more a team to bully other models than a team which supported the industry. Christy was kindness personified, Yasmeen was among the smartest models i have ever met, and i was there when she quit the job at YSL right before the show and know why she did it. She was also untouchable in the runway, there has never been a woman with more presence in the Runway than her, not even Naomi and Linda. But Yasmeen had a big mouth and she would never do things just to please the designers and photographers, something we really can not say about Linda, Naomi and Claudia who were the Marilyn Monroe of the industry and by that i mean that they would do whatever it took to get the part. Yasmeen is still a good friend, so are Erin and especially Eve with whom i had lunch a few months back. All three where the nicest women i knew from this period along with katoucha before she was murdered. And as for the men, Albert was the kindest, Greg was a very nice guy and as one of the rare straight guys in the industry he needed all the help and protection he could get ! Lewis ,.... i won't linger on the topic or Lewis any more than i lingered on him (he was very ambivalent in the 90s or maybe that was just the cocaine), but he was truly a doll in every sense of the term, the only male model i actually had feelings for, such a charming guy. And Marcus was a total dick and a major cunt . And then you had the real queens of the industry or rather the goddesses the one who were so far out of reach nobody neither the men nor the girls would even dare interfere with. It was Grace and Iman. Sorry Tim but sweet gorgeous little Linda with all her contracts, her covers, her endorsement, and all the money she made, still can't begin to compare to Iman and Grace .And in terms of workload, Naomi has worked 10 times more than Linda and still made less. And if Yasmeen hadn't quit and had been a little docile, she would have ruled this industry, but being who she was and still is, is the reason why we love her so much. If you have worked in this industry (whatever your job were back then) you will not disagree with me.
Lmao shut up you sound very hater like yasmeen was a good model but it’s the public relevancy the girls had that helped them even more and she barely had relevancy to the public Naomi was and is a CELEBRITY as was Cindy Crawford Christy and Linda they were celebrities Yasmeen was just a great supermodel easily best walk next to miss Campbell
@@morganolfursson2560 how was Carla? Also, from your knowledge, can you rank the female supernodels from best to worst ( in terms of pure performance on the job and behavior ) Also, which supermodels weren't really worth the hype?
Models today are too thin. Skinny in fact. The legs of many models are really skinny and not much of a butt on them. It seems like the models from the 80s and 90s looked more athletic.
What can I say that hasn't already been said about Linda? I mean La Linda is a model's model. She is the Queen! No one did it quite like her! I often allude to her as the Queen of Paris and Milan
childhood photos don't mean much.. have you seen some of the celebs kids lately? the parents cross-dress them.. we wouldn't know their gender if they didn't say.. we really don't even know either way..
There is no model today who comes close to Linda's iconic persona...
Nothing beats the original Supermodel era with their Queen Linda... She is by far the supreme leader of the supemodels.

In terms of success, Claudia was not second.

Yeah...some joke that quote it even made her and Turlington stop being friends. It wasn't a joke, she was obnoxious and acknowledged it later on.

She's not. Nice try though.
And where is she today? Well unfortunately Linda is not that Linda today.. She looks OK today, but not great like 20, 30 years ago.
Nikola Mitrovic it is called aging🙄 at least she is honest about it and not trying to get back with plastic surgeries
Aging is a wonderful experience
