  • Barn Memories is an oral history project completed by the Appalachian Barn Alliance (appalachianbar...) and sponsored by the Hart Family Fund for Small Towns of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The project involved interviews with long-time residents of Madison County, NC, all reminiscing about their most cherished barn memories. This interview is one of ten collected during this endeavor.
Evelyn Anderson and her daughter, Lisa Anderson Sessions, live on the farmland that was settled by Lisa’s ancestors, Patti and James Anderson in 1797. This Beech Glen-area farm has been lovingly cared for these many generations, and with its 1890 house, barns and outbuildings has stood as a rare example of a settlement-era Appalachian mountain farm. Interviewed September 2022.
