I lost my CDA Ecridor Greek Keys 10 years ago. I just bought a NOS CDA Ecridor Athens 2004 edition this week! I really miss it. Took me a decade to buy it again. Been mostly getting MB 149 x 3 and a bunch of other pens but i am happy to get this Ecridor back!!
I'm pleased you are reviewing a ballpoint. I think there is a quite silly form of snobbery among some fountain pen enthusiasts which seems to put all ballpoints in the same category as cheap dispossible pens. The pen your reviewing certainly is beautiful.
I agree with you, Darryl! I have nothing against any writing implement. They are all great in their own ways, in my opinion. Of course there are better and worse products. Just referring to the overall writing technology.
I just found your channel. I like your content. I don’t know much about pens that aren’t disposable so this is a wonderful educational video. I will look to see if you have pencil videos and erasers. The quality of pencils and erasers has gone down over the decades. I noticed the quality change in the 1980’s. Anyway, thank you.
Hello, and thanks very much! I do have some pencil related content - but fountain pens is certainly more. I agree - and would overall add that the general quality of stationary has gone down.
You can use a Parker G2 refill if you file off about 3 mm from the end. So you have plenty of different refills to choose from. I fitted a Schneider Slider 755 XB in mine.
The "broad" refill is unbelievable for a ball pen, smooth and slick. It looks and feels like a really good gel pen with the consistency and reliability of a ball pen. I love my "basic" 849
Thanks for the review! I do really like the Caran d'Ache 849 ballpoint pens. They're pretty iconic. There are more "generic" refills available for them, at least here in Switzerland, but the quality of the ink isn't as good.
Thanks for the review. I own the Caran d'Ache Ecridor x Keith Haring. I'm also more into girthier (fountain)pens, but I love this ballpoint pen very much. I even made a matching cover for an A5 Midori notebook!
Beautyful! Also like girthier pens in fountain pens - but in other things such as pencil or ballpoint, the slimmer format works. But thinking of it, I also really like the Lamy cp1 fountain pen. Hmm…
That plastic piece makes it slide silently with less friction. These last for decades. So don‘t worry. Caran d‘Ache will replace defective parts even after many years.
Great review! I have Caran d'ache ecridor retro ballpoint pen since 2019. It's a wonderful pen and my every day writer. My recommendations!

Thanks for sharing! Good to know
Wow. It's been a long time since we have seen you. Thank you for posting a video.
Life taking over ;). Will try to do more content again. Missing it myself :)

Yes, the cp1. And don't forget the Spirit, ballpoint pen and pencil. Still writing with them!@@Scrivelynotes
I have a set of these, they are wonderful pens and pencil! Must admit i prefer the smaller girth of them all
Good review. I like your pencil case, too. Can you please tell me what is it ?

The Caran d'Ache 849 ballpoint can take Ballograf refills so I presume the Ecridor will do likewise.
Such an expensive pen, and regretfully still uses that cheap plastic piece in the knock mechanism 😢
True! Maybe works better? It’s such a small piece - so not sure ‚savings‘ is the reason?
