I picked up a Caran D'Ache from a garage sale last year for $25 US with a gold plated steel nib, I think from the 1990's. I couldn't find any information about it but it is green marbled resin with a subtle, slim octagonal shape. It is such a nice writer and just a beautiful pen.
I bought the Ecridor Avenue from Amazon UK after spotting it for £108! Best deal ever.
Over a year ago, I bought a 1960s Ecridor pen & ballpoint set from Anderson Pens. The fountain pen has a gold nib that I like a lot. They have both aged very well. Paid $150 for the set & regard that as a good value. But $200+ for a current steel nibbed Ecridor? ---don't think so!
In the U.S. it is typically priced at just over $300 msrp.
Swiss quality is guaranteed, and I totally agree on the ST Dupont pens and their nibs, I use one and its quality proves the brand produces world class pens.
Well reasoned review, and nicely shown pen. Thanks!
Thank you for another great review!
Picked up a Leman's Grand Bleu in Paris - absolutely beautiful pen and incredible writer - one of the best I have. Compared to a Montblanc Leman Around The World in 80 Days (another stunningly beautiful pen), the Caran d'Ache is less than half the price!
Was able to pick one of these up several years ago for 170 euro including VAT, which I found a fair price for what you get. I find the section to be quite slippery, but the pen is often enough in rotation as the slip cap makes it easy to quickly write something down. As always, thanks for the review!
My Ecridor had problems with the nib collar disintegrating. It would leak at the grip section when the cracks started. Finally gave up on it.
I have an Ecridor Chevron that was a company gift from several years ago. It's a beautiful pen that writes nicely. I suppose some of the value is in the rhodium plating. At current prices, that precious metal is more than twice the value of gold. Also, the precision and craftsmanship with which the pen was made stands out. Even the converter screws in solidly and precisely. Is it worth it? The pen for me was a gift so that I was never very concerned about that.

I didn't understand what you said, sorry I'm from Colombia.
You said: "their nibs are on par with brands like ?????"
What's the other brand?
Sorry and thanks
I love design wink to the Rotring 600 in this pen. Now I wonder how their more affordable 849 pens write.
The English playwright Tom Stoppard uses this very make and model pen to write all his plays. He doesn’t type and uses this pen exclusively.
Good morning. Which modern flex pen or nib with tipping you like, if you have to choose 1? Thank you in advance
No longer being made but the best hexagonal pen in that style is the Rotring 600. Leave it for 18 months and it will write. Bought mine for £40 ish back in the day and have given two away as I knew they would not lead to frustration.
This was my pen in the early 90's. All my rotring pens pens failed because at some point the cap will no longer stay on.
Dang I like silver.
I love the elegant simplicity of the design. If only the price were a bit more simple as well.
