Simply the greatest final and snooker match i have ever had the privilege to watch, 2 of the greatest players ever to grace the game at the top of their game and a finish which was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic finishes to any game of sport ever in the history of sporting events.
+Tom CFC we should and Higgins has a great record against Ronnie is the really big Triple Crown events like the Masters. Ronnie is the better player but Higgins has the wood over him when the chips are really down on the biggest weekends. Should be a great evening if Higgins qualifies.
Tom CFC looking forward to it either way. No one can deny that having Ronnie in a Triple crown finals weekend adds to the interest. Robertson V Trump could be superb tomorrow.
I remember watching this match, it was incredible. Clips a touch biased towards Ronnie, seems to show a lot of Higgins' misses, so I can't really understand how people could call Higgins lucky based on this clip. Higgins played unbelievably to be 5-3 up after Ronnie's tournament high breaks of 138 & 139 in the first two frames (who by the way was also fantastic). He went from 3-0 down to 5-3 up, this BBC montage doesn't really show any of that all though I still really enjoyed it.
goldenepic I was thinking the same watching this live I was on the edge of my seat, when John dropped that in to the middle I remember screaming he’s missed it then it just dropped in, the double was brilliant and was a great match to watch
Whatever your feelings about Higgins or O'Sullivan, there's no denying this was one simply incredible final, and featured one of the best pressure breaks since Alex Higgins' 69 in 1982 in the immense final frame decider. Both players were in the form of their lives and it was a pleasure to watch.
Remember watching this in my local 15 years ago, I still think these pair reached levels nobody else could touch from around 2000-2010. I remember my heart sinking when higgins got that double at the end, because i knew it was over, what a clearance.
O'Sullivan and J Higgins always brings the best out of each other. Great respect between the two and both started their careers in similar ways at the same time
One of the truly great masters finals, i really was open mouthed on the edge of my seat watching that match, i also put a hundred quid on Higgins to win at the start of the tournement, he was 7/1, That aside, incredidible game, both players at the top of their game, fantastic. Is it just me or is snnoker missing those big grandstand games, that have that unexplainable magic.
@@Ytnzy250 enough for you to point out my error of definition, You are correct I used the word “there”as a noun instead of a verb, enough for some pedantic sod to point it out, I will now correct my comment and thank you for it. Thank you sod
John higgins is an awesome player BUT i can't get over the fact he wanted to cheat. He only didn't do it because he got caught before doing it. Still doesn't make it right. The intention was definitely there for all to see
Two legends, 19 legendary frames :) Match of my life, its better to watch them in a 19 frame match than a 35, its far more tense. Course, thats my opinion. :)
i recall ronnie using just the red and blue to get a break of 58 when the score was 8-8 frames a piece,it was amazing to watch his positional play, the best game i ever seen between higgins and o` sullivan i remember o` sullivan missing the red ball when he was on a 60 break and needed just a couple of balls to win but a great clearence from higgins to win 10-9,i also recall ronnie calling john a great player and a lucky bastard refering to the red which was lucky to fall in the middle bag.
Ronnie had to finish off the decider it was all there for him. This was a great final , when he got to 60 with the tricky red I thought he won but even Ronnie gets nervous.
Harry Gherk I don't know what you're talking about. These are snooker players playing snooker. Pool is another cue sport. I love both pool and snooker, but they're totally different.
Oh, also, what a fucking final. It's rare that we get a final of this quality with two of the greatest playing near their best. One of my biggest regrets with snooker is that we never got a Hendry Davis world final, or Hendry O'sullivan. Those would've been epic. the 90 UK final was a good consolation tho.
Out of the 4 Major's finals these two players have played o Sullivan won 2 by alot and the world final they played by 4 and this was the only close one but Higgins had to pull of what is considered his best clearence of his career to just win 1 against Ronnie.
can anyone tell me the name of the background music? it's not the Mission -BBC orchestra of Wales and Ben Foster, as mentioned below. I'd appreciate it.
Because the fact remains that John Higgins is 1 of the greatest snooker players of all time, he's been the best snooker player of the past 5 years, and he is somewhere in the top 3 greatest that's ever picked up a snooker cue. He's not the best breakbuilder ever, and he doesn't have the greatest safety game ever, but he is the best allrounder who doesn't have a weak facet to his game. There's no other player you can say that about. Every player in history has at least one weakness, John Doesn't
I renember watching the double at 6:40. That was my last hope that he would miss. You gotta give it to higgings. He is a great player and that was a great clearence and he deserved to win that match.
@hazelwood474 when your a underdog you don't have much to lose there for Higgins took dangerous chance even tho meaning losing matches, thats the only way to beat O'sullivan at his best i've seen this match it was sick but i agree with U must be the biggest luck ever in snooker for Ronnie Osullivan to lose to a cheat he did say he didn't understand what was going on when he was dealing with russian mafia, he's a grown man he understood everything only cause he go caught red-handed.
Man, I'm brazilian, huge fan of snooker, but I have to say, I have such a hard time trying to understand John Higgins, very difficult to understand what he's saying.
I do agree with Ronnie being a huge talent, but as an all around player i appreciate John much more. He´s more stable, less arrogant, and i your only argument against him is accusing of cheating - you obviously don´t know enough about snooker to keep commenting.
big ronnie fan but higgins is the only guy that could always beat ronnie at his best when john is at his best ,this is`nt just me saying this o`sullivan said it himself in a interview on tv possibly mark williams at his best could!
A great match. I wonder how many of John's misses were legit or ordered by his wealthy gambling syndicate mates? The way the WPBSA brushed his match fixing away was contemptible
@AntiFanBoy1 Ronnie anit world no 1 anymore but he is the man to beat what ever tournament, John Higgins is the only man that can take on ronnie but he anit better then ronnie specially when ronnie is on overdrive mode he is unstopable, John won most of the matches against him only cause of Ronnie's lack of concentration, & John Higgin is a underdog any player plays [ronnie world no 1] or not would be thrilled to beat him & give all they got, same with the underdog nothing to lose.
+levi Meu It's a subtle difference, but no he wasn't. He was caught agreeing to fix some frames on camera. Whether he would've actually done it is anyone's guess (and he obviously says no)
Really? Well you might well be wrong on that score Mr Jealous. Experts have already quoted Mr O'Sullivan as the best player of all time, also he has not retired yet. Wait and see how many centuries and maximums + titles he achieves before you make that assumption. Now you deal with that :-)
levi Meu Ah well, the title stopped in Great Britain, rather than some Foreign land :-) Ronnie still has more natural talent than the rest combined. Are you another "hater" by any chance?
well you`re an idiot then. great player but sadly a cheat. and anyone in the game or out of it knows ronnie is the best ever to pick up a cue, might not be in stats but in pure snooker ability he`s the best. end of story. peace.
