    I have a 1997 which I ride on the trails near my house, or even in Moab, UT. It is a bit heavy but has torque. I ride tight single track and do hill climbs hoping I won't have to pick the damn thing up.

    Hey man, great video, nice bike, I have a 1999 model (kick start only). I have the stock sprockets on it which don't do well on the highway (IMHO). Do you know what size sprockets the bike in the video has? I'm thinking of putting a 47 tooth on the rear and keeping the 15 tooth on the front. Cheers

    Hey man, took you're advice, found an electric start 1993 DR250SE on C/L got it for $650!... Can't wait to go thru it for winter project/build, cold in New England right now so limited like I imagine Oregon is this time of year. Your mods are smart & practical. I like the rack especially but I'm not sure it'll work on mine it's got the frame loop over the fender. I'll figure something out! Thx again.

    • @dunemaster3179
      @dunemaster3179  4 года назад +1

      Contrags! It sucks to kickstart the bike on an incline muddy trail when your bike stalls, while my buddies just press the button to start their bikes, so electric start is the way to go. That frame loop should unbolt, mine came with a frame loop where the stock turn signals used to attached (my dr350 was missing rear turn signals), so I took it off to put on the rack. Getting rid of stock exhaust will save you like 10 pounds, that thing is heavy. Anyway, $650 sounds like a steal! Good job!

      Hey thanks for watching. I didn’t replace the whole headlight. I just got a led lightbulb. Any cheap eBay lightbulb that has the same pattern mounting points as the bulb in the headlight will work. It’s pretty easy job.

      I haven’t actually taken it on very muddy roads or single trails. I’ve ridden it on gravel roads for miles with lots of bumps that had some slightly muddy areas and it ride great. I weight 175lbs and suspension felt very good on bumps. It pulls very good uphill. Overall, it was very comfortable and fun ride.

    • @dunemaster3179
      @dunemaster3179  4 года назад +1

      Camilo Quiet Rider I think this bike is great for daily commute as long as it’s not a highway (this bike can handle the highway, but it’s not the most comfortable ride) and as long as it’s not more that 30 mile commute (it can handle a long commute but it’s not super comfortable for a daily driver). These bikes changed little over time, so don’t be afraid of an old bike. Just make sure it’s in good shape before you buy it. Also get one with electric start.

    • @dunemaster3179

      Camilo Quiet Rider Id say 65-70mph for cruising on the highway. 90mph top speed.

    • @dunemaster3179
      @dunemaster3179  4 года назад

      @@camiloyepesjaramillo4168 My bike is a little faster than stock because it has an airbox mod (airbox is cut out and carb is rejeted) and it has an aftermarket exhaust (not sure if it actually makes any difference). It feels plenty fast, it accelerates fast too. Also, get DR350s or DR350se, not the dirt version. Dirt version doesn't have the 6th gear that makes it possible to ride it on the highway.

      Yep I’m 6’4 and 210lbs I fit just fine you’ll be good I believe the stock seat height is like 34-36 inch seat height it’s great mine is kick only model my buddy has an electric start model and I honestly I like the idea of not needing a battery to run that and I’m still young enough to kick it over (27) and like the video says super low maintenance just change oil, filter and clean the screen inside the bike frame at the end of the riding season and it will serve you well for many years, snag up a few extra CDI units as extra parts cuz they don’t make them anymore but other then the CDI and the voltage rectifier you can still buy all electrical components online.
