It's always great to see how people use home automation. I like to have items grouped by how i would let people use them. For example i have my pool and back patio option on a scene so it's easy to turn on an entire area that works together for like a Pool Party or a Back Patio Party. Some items are unavailable to the party folks because i don't want them turning them off / on (ex. Power Plug for a Stereo)
I have started to use visibility for the first time. As you say, it is handy to have an awareness dashboard. I love data and so have made some that are “too” big
I wanted to have something like this: Have a clickable badge at the top of my dashboard, with 3 states, and when I click it it would change how much of the data would be displayed. E.g. in the 1st state it would only show basic or important information like you have the temperatures setup, on the 2nd state it would show all temperatures of every sensor, and on the 3rd it would show all temperatures and all humidities
Chris - Your new interface inspired me enough to work on mine. I have used Mushroom for a long time, and probably will still use the mushroom light cards, but I like the sections. Been playing with sections for a few weeks. It does need some work, but I look forward to all of the conditionals.
Nice work Chris! I watched your video about auto backups and I've been trying to create a card to show the status of the backups. Something that looks clean and simple like the cards on your dashboard in this video. I envision a green icon when the backup has succeeded and a red icon when it has failed. But I can't seem to pull if off. Nothing I've tried works. Any tips? Thanks!
I noticed you had the NWS Alerts on your dash board. I used the Blitzortung Lightning Strike Counter and NWS alerts to try and creat an automation to flash my LED light strings and announce the warnings on my google and Home pod speakers. It worked perfectly for the Blitzortung first try, but the NWS integration just shows the number of Alerts, but does not trigger the automation. I can't really figure out why. We have had more than 60 tornados here in Ohio, I thought this would be helpful. If you know where I went wrong this might make for a good video, maybe even life saving for some folks.....Thanks enjoy your channel.
I really enjoyed your video. I am currently migrating from Hubitat to HA and in the process of designing new dashboards. I am definitely going to use sessions. My question is how do you handle displaying several security cameras on your new dashboard. Keep up the great videos.
The dashboard is really clean, I like it. But shouldn't you have a card to turn on the lights, blinds, switches, etc. too? In that case, do you use another dashboard? Thanks
What I do is have a Boolean called “show”. If I toggle that on all lights are made visible, can quickly see all lights to turn/on/off. Flick the Boolean off to go back to clean minimal view. Also use that with “guest” Boolean. It disable lighting Automation and shows all lights for guests to manually control.
Your dashboard looks good for you. And for some it can be a daily driver I find myself wanting to create my daily driver and the functions to do it are readily available or easy to use I hope it's a work in progress for HA I truly want an organic fluid feeling dashboard and right now it's utilitarian and they seem to be just recreating that same look again I would highly suggest HA just allow a new dashboard across the board if we so choose to use it
The issue I am trying to overcome is, visibility attributes. For example, the thermostat sensor reports the room temperature by default, I want the target temperature which is an attribute. The card shows it, but visibilty does not support it by default.
All those headlines are just wasting space. I mean, you have a green rotating fan icon, no mystery what that depicts. The headline explaining these are fans seems wildly unnecessary. A nice discreet background image wouldn't go amiss for softening up the looks either, something abstract and on the darker side perhaps.

@2:17 How do you get your Alarmo card to show up in one row like that? When I use a tile with the controls feature, it takes up way more height.

Can you post the update section YAML please? I have no alerts for HACS. I have to keep checking.
