    1:50 - Robert Downey Jr also has a habbit of eating on screen :D (They tried to keep him from doing so in several Iron Man / Marvel movies - but eventually they gave up, because he hid sweets all over the set, and made it a character quirk :D)

      @@joefosh I just watched something on James Gandolfini and he wanted to eat to get further into the character. I guess he ate many plates of food for each scene.

    • @djtoona
      @djtoona 4 года назад +1

      @@joefosh Gandolfini was a master with a knife and a fork and a plate of food. At first I thought it was just to show off how he was a master of eating various iterations of pasta, but he extended his mastery to loading a fork with the exact right proportion of meat and side dish before talking (somehow elegantly) with his mouth full of food.

    Jennifer Aniston's throat clearing seems to be exclusive to Friends (the only clips shown here). That might imply that this is a quirk of "Rachel's" that Aniston consciously used for the character. She doesn't seem to do it in other roles.
    The Brad Pitt eating is super well known. I love watching him stuff cheeseburgers in his mouth while talking. It's hilarious.

    • @natfailsyoutube8163
      @natfailsyoutube8163 7 лет назад +27

      I was more surprised they skipped the super practical reason for other actors not commonly eating on film: the scene might need 30 takes or more, the actor can easily end up having to consume a lot of food.

    • @frozenaorta
      @frozenaorta 7 лет назад +11

      nat4200 Yeah. I remember watching the commentary on the movie Rounders once, and Edward Norton has a scene where he and and Matt Damon are walking down the street while Norton eats a hot dog. They were all laughing about how many hot dogs he ended up eating during the shooting. Apparently he got pretty sick.

      EVERY....TIME

    • @ameliaq.7481
      @ameliaq.7481 7 лет назад +11

      nat4200 Exactly. And having people eating in a scene probably makes editing harder if they have to use different takes of the same scene. It's really noticeable when an actor has taken a bite out of something but it's suddenly whole again in the next shot. Or when someone's drinking and the liquid level in the glass keeps going up and down. I'm sure it's easier to just leave food out of a scene completely.

    • @frozenaorta
      @frozenaorta 7 лет назад +14

      Amelia Q. Yep. It's continuity errors just waiting to happen. Back when my girlfriend and I used to actually watch Big Bang Theory, we always used to be amused by how they never ate. I mean, the group is CONSTANTLY eating on that show--they just never actually take a bite. They just stir and stir and poke. Then right when it looks like someone might take a bite... They freeze and react to something said.

      It also draws attention to his mouth. Ever notice that in nearly all of his films he seems to be wearing something dewy-looking on his lips, like clear lip gloss? Yeah, if you're even slightly attracted his looks, his constant eating and lip goo wearing is probably going make you look right at his lips, like, ALL the time. It's a clever device.

    John Cusack went to my high school (Many years before I did, of course). I assume on days it was raining he'd stand outside the classroom and listen through the window with one of those old-timy hearing horns.
    Also, you should have included how Jonathan Frakes (Riker from Star Trek The Next Generation) sits in chairs. He climbs over the back of them.

    • @enzd735
      @enzd735 7 лет назад +4

      ...I've watched TNG so many times, yet never picked up on that. Not sure if it had more to do with his size or his back injury. He also leans a lot when he's still.

    • @Mech610
      @Mech610 7 лет назад +5

      Enzd It may be a combination of both conditions. The leaning is definitely from the injury, though. But yeah, there's a compilation video of him climbing over the backs of chairs in like half a dozen scenes from TNG (And there's definitely many more, but the video maker chose those for the compilation). It's kind of mesmerizing to watch how he'd enter a scene and with a single action immediately own the room lol.

    • @Halrawk

      I sit on most chairs the same way. I'm 6'1", but have very long legs for my height. Any chair that isn't about belly button high just gets hurdled like the way Riker does it. Think that probably has a lot to do with it, very few people have commented on it with me. It's weird, but not weird enough to draw someones attention to exactly what's happening. They just think "hm, that seemed different".

    • @Maximusrex4575
      @Maximusrex4575 7 лет назад +1

      I had seen an interview where that maneuver was mentioned, and it came up that he did it for two reasons, one it was an inside joke making fun of how small the chairs they used on set were, and the other was it was easier for him to do smoothly later on when he had some back issues.

    Jimmy Fallon doesn't so much start speaking gibberish as he does start slurring his speech. This is a combination of two things. 1) Sometimes it's considered funnier to say something humorous and just keep going as if you're unimpressed by your own joke, because it makes it feel more impressive when something genuinely funny you just said doesn't even faze you, so 2) he does it in a way that allows the audience to keep laughing without having to worry that they're missing vital information while he continues talking. It's more a strange technique than a tic.

      ***** His laughs and jokes are cheap shots sometimes in my opinion but there are times when I enjoy the games he plays with celebrities. The way I see it, he's wayy funnier and more entertaining than that damn Jimmy Kimmel. That's who I can't stand.

      Promise Mitchell What about Kimmel don't you like? I'll be honest , I didn't think much if his earlier shit with the Man Show, but he actually seems like a genuine guy. His laughs are authentic, he's sarcastic and empathetic and sometimes pretty funny rmwho doesn't take himself too seriously.

    • @zEropoint68
      @zEropoint68 7 лет назад +2

      see, i actually thought this out. i figured there are three "man" words for "seductress": gigolo, romeo, and lothario. a gigolo is in it for money, a romeo is in it for love, but a lothario is in it purely for the sexual conquest.
      although casanova is good too.

    • @WakenerOne
      @WakenerOne 7 лет назад +3

      You figured wrong, and you didn't even count the first one that came to my mind: "Seducer." And then there are "wolf," "bird dog," "inveigler," "debaucher," "Don Juan," "playboy," "gallant," "womanizer," "gay boy," "philanderer," "charmer," "lady-killer," "ladies' man," "trifler," "seductor," and yes, "lothario," as well as others.
      A "romeo" is NOT in it for love. A "romeo" is one who has a reputation of success with many women, usually without any thought of the consequences. The singer in the song "The Wanderer" by Dion is a "romeo." But Hank Moody from Californication would not be because he *frequently* considered the consequences, and saw an individual beauty in every woman he was with.

      Don't have a shoulder injury but I do, do that as well. The reason why is due to Devil May Cry 3, the beginning of the game Dante throws one of his signature red coats on. I saw this as a child and replicated it best I could and now it's just habit... Looks cool though.

    The Jennifer Aniston one is unfair, I think. You only showed clips from Friends, so it's reasonable to say that was just a tick she made up for the Rachel character. And it does fit the character, so why not? Had you shown even a single clip from any of her other work, I might believe it...

    That Jimmy Fallon thing is called a Fill - what comedians say/do after a joke to seem as if they're being interrupted by the laugh. When I was a kid I noticed Joan Rivers doing this. After EVERY punchline, she would say, "It is JUST...." as if about to say "It is just crazy how that person I just insulted is so blah blah blah...." It always drove me crazy. Once I noticed it, it was all I could hear.
