Excellent performance. Played French horn on this back in my college wind ensemble. Have loved this piece of music ever since I heard it played by the GRC high school band on the field in 1978. Didn’t get to see the movie for many years later. And tracked down and out of print LP of the soundtrack many years later as well. Beautiful and grand piece of music. And very well performed here. Great job to this band of so many years ago.
Incredible.... I'm sure the recording does not do justice to the live performance. This has been one of my favorite pieces since our Jr. High School band played this piece back in the day. I'm sure we had an appropriate arrangement for our level of playing, but the power of the song still came through. Great piece for all sections....percussion, horns, low brass, trumpets, and all winds have their spotlight in various parts. Our band director actually took us on a field trip to see the movie prior to us playing it in our UIL competition.
Beautiful job University of Hawaii! This movie was made before you all were even born. But I'm hearing more that just playing Jerry Goldsmith's notes. You have all gone out and watched the movie, maybe even several times. An important time in our history, we referred to it as "Gunboat Diplomacy." So you have seen the African deserts, President Teddy Roosevelt at his finest, Sec. of State John Hay, and my fellow Marines (I'm a retired Marine weather forecaster who was at Kaneohe Bay in the 70's). You all have truly captured the spirit of the time, and made something as beautiful as the original score. America and Morocco would certainly be proud of you!

When I was in the UH Wind Ensemble we tried this but scrapped it. We did play Music of the Spheres by Philip Sparke though.
