This piece is SO fun to play, my band is going to be taking this piece to Carnegie Hall this April, along with 2 other pieces. Right now we are playing it about 20 clicks under tempo 😂 but it’s coming along. (Btw I’m a 1st Clarinet and this piece KILLS the mouth 😒)
I always feel bad for clarinets and flutes cause they, like in this song, tend to have all these fast sixteenth note runs and stuff like that and it has to be freaking PIANO. Being an alto sax (2nd) I now know the struggle since we're playing this at my school.
We are playing it in my wind ensemble this year and it's a grade 6 in my area. Pretty tough piece but it isn't all that bad I guess. Gets kinda hard at the end but other than that it isn't that bad. Fun piece!
I know. I'm playing this for my Concert Band and i'm 3rd trumpet -_- For the past 3 hours, i have been miming legit that part. Decided to hear professionals play it at last.
We just finished playing one of his new pieces in Region Band (Rhapsodic Celebration) and we were the third band to play it, and not only that, he was there conducting us O.o
MrTotallyNotClickbait Well I'm a horn player but what I can recommend you is have a metronome and play it slow at first. Like start it really slow until you hit it 3 times consecutively. Then move it up 4 clicks and repeat until you hit your goal. Focus on the correct articulation and the more times you do this the less you will make a mistake. It'll come
Take it slow, I’m a trombone player that can also play trumpet. Have you ever heard of flutter tonguing or triple tonguing. If you learning those by just to a concert F then you can eventually learn doing the eighth note run.
our director played this for us and said we are going to play this today, the tuba soli thing starts we are look at our tub players and they are extremely happy to hear this! this will be fun!!!
Hehe this piece is going to be hella fun, hopefully our band doesn't botch it too bad, and hopefully i can get this mallet stuff right, first time with three mallets
we did this cys for a while our director arranged it to make it shorter and to make it safe to play with 6 trumpets 15 flutes 20 clarinets 2 bassoon a french horn and two altos with no percussion
This is my most favorite song ever and we did this in band and we sounded just like the recorded piece no lie it was amazing and measure 163 is where the amazing 16th note runs kick in 4 the trumpets and i'ma 10th grader btw and we played this last year
tuba solo hell yeah this piece is amazing
**Look of disbelief and excitement that my band is going to play this**
I'm in love! Oh my word. Fan-freaking-tastic!
5 stars and 2 thumbs up!
Finally a piece with an awesome bassoon part!!!! Sounds like a fun piece to play! Nice woodwind flourishes!
So upbeat and unpredictable, really fun to listen to ^-^
Robert Sheldon conducted our All State band just barely and we played this song. Brilliant!

It's not just the flutes like everybody has sixteenth note runs. EVEN THE TRUMPETS
Faerychun Lmao it’s not inventing the wheel just be glad none of it is at the level of actual classical pieces.
Yes I am a clarinet and playing this peace for band and currently my pride wounded because of the 16th notes
I am a alto sax player having to play this in band with a bunch of sixteenth notes. It hurts my soul attempting it

The mallets are a bit tricky in this, but not entirely unmanageable for one person to play.
❤
