This is so interesting! Can we note the full rest day every week - soo many amateurs don’t take rest days! They are essential (imo) and he backs me up!

Kenyans have a restday sundays. They go to Church and drink lots of tea with lots of sugar

I believe Connor doesn't run on Sundays for religious reasons

Appreciate this format. More please! 🙂Could you focus on the training of a women as well? For example Dakotah Lindwurm who ran a unbelievable 3rd at the Olympic Trials.

I second this! Would love to see you break down the training of female marathon runners as well!

Is it possible to add pace and distance in km? Appreciate it may be a lot of extra work! Also depends on your audience I guess.
Am genuinely interested in these recent analysis videos but a minute in a half in and I have no frame of reference of his distance or pace, and it just becomes a mass of random numbers!
That aside, great channel and good luck in London

it’s projected marathon pace but if you look the training schedule is similar for every marathon build he does

It aas exciting to see so many runners from my state make the trials. Ive seen a number of their videos online and recognize many of the spots where they train. We have plenty of hills and some altitude here but not crazy high altitude. If you want the higher stuff, it isnt hard to get to. You will have to come visit Andy and check out the running scene here in person. Hope you are feeling better and I love your videos

If you read the book 80/20 running I think you can see what works for a lot of elites..I have watched a lot of Conner's races, especially cross country, and he has a vicious long kick..just when he looks down and out he changes from hi gear into overdrive and comes from behind..amazing dedication to his craft..😊

Interesting , thank you. I tthink they do more speed in the build up to the marathon block ( base phase) in Kenya they also do lots of steady long runs with progressie near the end ( and rest on sunday when they relax and go to church)

Great callout as to his consistency. I especially admired his consistency in living his faith and observing the Sabbath as a literal day of rest.

Interesting series, it shows that theres no one way you have to train. Generally overall mileage counts, but the key workouts vary from person to person.

Quite often even among longer workouts like the pick up he goes below marathon pace that is pretty fast by more then just a few seconds.

I watched the race. Clayton absolutely pulled Conner through the last several K and could easily have won the race, but shut it down a couple of strides before the end to give 1st place to Mantz. Having watched that, I really can't say that Conner "won" the race.

    Great video again.
The only thing that confuses me: did any of the top 3 spots in the trials even ran the Olympic standard of 2:08:10 this year?
The women all ran the Olympic standard in the trials, but the men didn't.

    • @tgibridays
      @tgibridays 6 месяцев назад +1

Both Connor and Clayton ran under the standard at Chicago. That unlocked two spots for the US. (You don't have to run it at the trials and more confusingly it doesn't guarantee that person gets that spot which running it opens). 3rd place is a bit more confusing since he'll only be able to go to the Olympics if the US's world athletics standing is high enough. (I think... I get confused everytime I hear about it.) Basically, Mantz and Young are definitely going, Leonard Korir's situation is more fluid.

@@tgibridays Just checked the Chicago results, they indeed ran just under the standard there.
I think they need faster times from US marathonrunners if they want a third spot?
2 runners just below the standard can't be enough?
I have seen lots of countries that have at least 1 runner doing below 2:06 or more than 4 runners getting the standard.
Do you have a link to the world athletics standing?
