Excellent job and excellent explanation. Will try that on my half slip with a loose elastic now. Thanks so much 🥰 love that u hv the same machine I hv too 👍🏻
You’ve got a ton of knowhow. Moreover, you’re a great teacher. Through your video I “salvaged” a couple pair of long underwear by sewing in a new elastic waist. I’m a guy who inherited a sewing machine from my mom and began experimenting with it. Great machine. It’s similar to using woodworking tools only the medium is different--wood vs. fabric. Thanks for your expertise.
No real tricks, unfortunately. Just a lot of patience in taking out all the little stitches. I find any tricks, I will share them! Thanks for watching!
Also, I recently threw away a swimsuit where the leg elastics had given up. I had thought at the time that I should use it as a learning experience to see if I could just sew an elastic on top, just like you've done here. I don't remember why I decided it would be too challenging. Could you please do a video on it?
Sorry for the late reply! I've taken a bit of a break from RUclips, but I'm working on doing more. I will try to do a video on that in the future. Thank you for the idea! And thanks so much for watching!
It doesn’t really bother me, but it might bother people with sensitive skin. You can also buy soft waistband elastic that feels a little better than the regular stuff. I hope that helps!
Do you think you've gotten a feel for how much to stretch the elastic through experience? I wonder if I should pin it at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock first, since I don't really have that feel yet.
Thanks for sharing your sewing talents on this video. I would like to fix a pair of leggings but I don't have a machine. Not sure I will have the patience 😢to hand stitch all the way around.
That would be really hard to hand sew! They do have some inexpensive machines in the low $100 range that work really well. Or you could always borrow a friend's machine if they don't mind! Thanks for watching!
Having bare elastic from the inside looks very unfinished. If I did that method for other people , boy I’m sure I’d hear about it. I would never do this to my own pants. I’m glad it works for you.
I agree: it does look very unfinished! As I say in the video, for a customer, I would do it very differently. The purpose here is just to get a little more wear out of my own rather worn-out pajama or workout pants and help others (especially newer sewers) to do the same. I don't mind the unfinished look on the inside for myself. Maybe I'm a little too frugal! :) Thanks for watching and commenting!

And off this recommendation I'll follow....
My issue is always wanting to remove the elastic from waistbands. Do you have any tricks for removing elastic that is sewn in like this?

Thank you! You’ve helped me save many clothes!
I'm so glad! Thank you so much for watching!

❤Thanks, I learned a lot and so I can save my old pijamas!
I liked this video. I saw enough of the process to know what to do.
Thank you! I wish I could get the camera closer to the sewing machine. I hope to figure that out one day for future videos! Thank you for watching!

Isn’t that going to be scratchy against the skin, having the elastic exposed like that?

Would have preferred to see the process
Sorry my setup is not quite as sophisticated as I would like it to be. Hope to improve that in the future. Thanks for watching!

Yes, I think you are right! Pinning it would probably help me to be more accurate, too! :)
Thank you !
camera should have been on your work .. wanted to see details.
You look great 😊
Thank you!! 😊

Any special settings needed?
Nope! I just use a regular straight stitch of about 3-3.5 stitch length. Hope that helps!
2:22 minutes for the start.
Alot off camera when doing it so not that helpful if can't see it
Thanks for the advice. Will try to do better next time.
Camera position is not in proper angle. And also simply story telling than practical😮
