    Would be nice to see the names in traditional Chinese next to the simplified!

      Hi Jose! Thanks for the advice :) I think that putting both traditional & simplified Chinese along side each other could be a little too much information for the viewers, especially for beginners, so I am trying to keep things simple at the moment. But that's a great idea you have there, I am thinking about making a video about traditional vs. simplified Chinese. So stay tuned!

    Somehow zeng is ranked as the 32 most common Chinese last name but if you search it up, there are only around 100,000 Zengs in the world. Xiang, ranked as 100, is the surname of over 3 million people in China alone.

    Hi i would like to know if my last name Mati-ong? Also a Chinese last name or derived from chinese last name..your response is appreciated .because a lot of people is asking me if i have a chinese blood.. we dont have any record for me to trace

    • @amandaschinese
      @amandaschinese  8 месяцев назад

      Sorry I do not know about Mati-ong, however I found some explanation online which I think sounds close - Quoting Wikipedia: Ong is a Hokkien romanization of several Chinese surnames: 王 (Wáng in Hanyu Pinyin), 汪 (also Wāng), 黃 (traditional) or 黄 (simplified; Huáng); and 翁 (Weng). If your family comes from Fujian in southeastern China it would make sense. But you also mentioned you're not sure if you have a Chinese blood...

      Hello Reagan! In fact as a native Chinese, I've never heard of Prayogo as a Chinese last name. I looked it up online, turns out it is a common last name found among Overseas Chinese communities. As it is the transliteration of several different Chinese surnames (吴, 伍, 武, 乌, 仵, 邬), you might need to ask your parents or grandparents to know which one it stands for in your family name. Here is the link with details you might be interested.

    TO THE CHINESE, SURNAME IS THE FIRST NAME, NOT LAST NAME
    FOR EXAMPLE:曾灶財
    曾=SURNAME
    灶財=GIVEN NAME

    What's the mean of the name Xin Ni ?

    • @amandaschinese
      @amandaschinese  2 года назад

      Hello! Thanks for watching! Do you know the characters of "Xin Ni"? I mean how it is written in strokes? Because I can't tell what it means exactly, as there are too many combinations with just "Xin Ni" -Xin could be 欣,心,馨,歆,信,or more, and Ni could be 倪,妮,旎,or more. So it would be helpful if you could share its characters, instead of its pinyin.
