Thank you Otis, your a treasure! 🙏😎🎵👍
Brilliant stuff!!
One of my all-time favorites right there... btw, Otis - you're climbing up my list too. Thanks brother!
I absolutely love this interview. I got to spend a short time with Chris years ago when he was playing at an ARK benefit concert. A beautiful soul!
The best thing that I've seen in a long time.............................Chris Smither is a legend in his own right (and a gentleman - remembering the Lobby Bar with Peter Mulvey many years ago).................don't forget Chris - "next time I'm going to Cork!!!"................
Otis, did you ever think you'd become, among other good things, a historian? Your interviews are cataloging some of the wonderful stuff about what happens in our country. Chris Smither is amazing. I love his playing. Thank you.
Man, when I'm down, depressed and out of faith for the human race I can watch one of Otis' ' 'buddy' interviews like this one with lovely music loving folk who know their shit and have great tales to tell and it reminds me that there are still good people out there somewhere e.
Loving these segments with Chris Smither What a joy.
What a man no pretentious shit from this fellow you could listen to this man all day. Legend 🏴💪💪💪
Stories about the music are its own genre and need to be told…
Nothing better than to be taken back to those early days, at least for me, turning 75 in July. Like Dave Van Ronk's memoirs, Mayor of MacDougall Street. Priceless.
I’m also turning 75 in July, haven’t read Van Rink’s book but his LP with Sister Kate as one of my first, still have it
Bob Dylan’s first album had ‘House of the Rising Sun’ on it which was a Dave Van Ronk arrangement. ‘Sticky Fingers’ indeed. ☘
75 here too. Love all the back stories. Chris and Otis are both terrific.
I've seen lots of Rock & Roll Acts since Iron Butterfly in 1967(?). The only old-time blues man I was lucky to see was Muddy Waters at Richard's nightclub in Atlanta - October of 1974.
One of the greats!
Chris is an absolute pleasure. Thanks Otis. You’re knocking it out of the park with these interviews, or just your “running my mouth” segments, or whatever. It’s all golden.
Great stuff from Chris. Man is lookin’ great at 79 - that head of hair is impressive!
Love these interviews, Otis!
And off I go, down the Chris Smither rabbit-hole...
Thanks, O.G.!
Great stuff! Thank you.
Thank you Otis, and Chris. Great stories
sitting in a chair holding a whiskey bottle dozing off....love it! thanks brother otis and the great chris smither
Great interview! Love this stuff. Thank you, Otis.
Thank you Mr Gibbs, this is really great stuff. It makes me smile when he laughs with his stories.
These stories are priceless. 👏🙏
Great interview as always
"Which one of these guys am I supposed to listen to?" That honest question from a novice was so sincere and makes me smile.
Otis You Are The Man.
Wonderful! You are right: this is the good stuff. I need more “like” buttons though. That John Sebastian story alone needs a dozen.
Rock on 👍
Damn Chris sorry I missed you at Skipper’s in Tampa last time thru. Won’t let that happen again. Great musician and one helluva of a storyteller. Thanks again Otis.
Otis, I watch your videos every chance i get. I started doing open mics this year, I can only do one CS tune so far, but just love his stuff.
Such lovely memories

Always good Otis this one was gold. Your channel just keeps getting better and better💯. Thanks for what you do!
One of my heroes!
This interview was brilliant. Thank you so much!!! 😎👍👍
Thank you both. Wonderful.
Truly beautiful interview. The good stuff indeed. As a middle class suburban white kid I fell in love with Rev Gary Davis, Lightnin Hopkins, Mississippi John Hurt and a lot of other albums by the old blues masters. It's impossible to describe what this did to my mind and heart. I loved lots of the music coming out over the AM radio, some of it very directly inspired by the old masters and creators, but I knew the difference, Every word of this interview is gold. Thank you very much for doing it.
Musician 's musician ,Smither is the Real Deal !
so great. thanks for this.
My first experience of Chris Smither when I saw him on the UK’s ‘Later… With Jools Holland” TV programme 25+ years ago. I remember thinking that he was pulling from a deep well when I first heard him. Wonderful stuff here.
Otis you are a good man. This was nice. A couple of Chris Smithers songs that I love are Leave The Light On and Hundred Dollar Valentine.
These stories add so much to the understanding and of the world that created the music we were reared on.
Great video I have discovered so many great pickers and singers from your videos!!
Fantastic post, Otis. U DA BEST.
❤
Thank you, Otis. This interview, in particular, is a treasure trove of blues history. And now I know who Chris Smither is. I hope one day you can edit some of these interviews together in a documentary sort of way, interspersing clips of the great artists that these great artists talk about, a montage sort of thing: the way we all do when we go down rabbit holes looking up clips based on what your interviewees talk bout. That would be tremendous. Maybe I'll try that.
Great Otis, thanks. I was on the left coast and got to see Jesse Fuller, Sonny and Brownie, Clifton, Sam Chatmon. Hafa Adai from the Micronesia Blues Society on the island of Guam.
This truly is the Good Stuff! thanks so much for all your rad documents, otis .. .
Legend.
So damn good!
awwesome!
Wonderful, thank you.
Yep, happily headed down a Chris Smither rabbit hole tonight
perfect thankyou
Otis, if you get a chance to talk to Chris Smither again, can you ask him if he’s incorporated a Hawaiian slack key influence in his style? I swear I can hear one in his playing on “Leave the Light on”..
Love meeting the older generation, of which I am fast becoming a member. Mississippi John Hurt was a good one.
A steamship to France would be awesome! Probably get drunk, sick and discombobulated.
Great stuff. Thank you!
