Plagiarism is when you use someone else's works and ideas without crediting the source and pass it off as urs
1)verbal plagia: directly employ their words without citing the author
    2) patchwork plagia: putting and piecing many excerpts of different sources together without paraphrasing or citing
    3) paraphrasing plagia: is wen u employ ur own words but without citing the source
4)global plagia: is taking the entire work of someone and employ it as your own
    5) self plagia: using ur own previous assignment exact wording ideas bcz u already got credit for the work.

When I was in grad school, I was accused of plagiarism on my Master's thesis. Someone on the review panel found an obscure paper from 20 years prior, loosely correlated to my subject. It had one verbatim sentence to mine, 8 words long. The other sentence on which they claimed plagiarism (much later in my thesis) was about 6 words long and very similar to another obscure, 10 year old paper. I plagiarized nothing. I told them it had to be a coincidence, and it wouldn't be unreasonable for either sentence to have been duplicated elsewhere either in the past (or future). I swore out an affidavit saying the paper was 100% original. I turned over all my notes with sources and challenged them on how they thought I would possibly be interested in the prior papers. Based on their titles and abstractions, they would have been poor sources. After consideration, they decided I had not intentionally committed plagiarism. So, I just had to change the similar parts.

What to do if my 1000 page translation files taken by some groups, they changed a few terms, and claimed that is their translation? Do I need an attorney? Or what to do? Also, they were criticizing my translation saying "everyone says my translation was bad"? Then why did they steal if my translation if it was bad? Should I organize online open conference and let the professionals check my level of translation? Or report to court?

But isn't it that this presentation is also plagiarism
since you merely summarized or paraphrased other
presentations on plagiarism? Note that plagiarism
includes "slightly rewriting and re-arranging the words that
you have read or heard from others?" So this could also
include slightly re-arranging someone else's presentation?
    Plagiarism is so confusing.
    Crazy.

  • @user-km4vr2yc5u

ok , I understand that plagiarism is unacceptable on all fronts because it is deceptive at the very least and as far as I'm concerned it just boils down to common sense of knowing what's right and wrong. However, I do have an issue with "Self Plagiarism" to the point of a "self incriminating factor" that I think could happen in terms of the definition of self Plagiarism and my understanding of that definition. So, let's say I'm asked to write an essay on any given day about any given subject in my own original thoughts and words and complete it. I turn it in to be graded and I get credit for it and it's all good. Now the way I see it is that the only way I can commit self-plagiarism is by the professor or teacher , or whatever , giving me the exact same assignment with the same subject, and, if this happens it becomes a sort of entrapment would be a catch 22 for the student and possibly a tiny Pandora's box, meaning that , it becomes "entrapment with incrimination " , self Plagiarism and should be discussed with a more defined line about where that line is because to me its very vague and misleading with regards to the definition of " self Plagiarism".

Self-Plagiarism has to be a joke right? Like, there's no way that actually counts does it? If I wrote something or came up with an idea, I should have every right to reuse it as I deem necessary. I agree with all the other ones, but that one I just can't wrap my head around.

What about short answer questions in which the information is more common knowledge? (For example, what is the just-world hypothesis?) There is only one definition for it. Writing a big paper however is a whole other beast.
