20 years ago, I was on a big kick with Paul Weller solo records, I am still a fan.. I just jump around too much to stay in one place, musically ! I enjoy Hoodoo Gurus, but only have them on Cd. Early Kings Of Leon is what I know.. "Youth & Young Manhood" is so good ! Agreed.. Nick Cave and colored vinyl.. No Bueno ! Haha ✌Nice buys, Lloyd.. Good to drop in to your channel
hi mate, thanks for swinging by... i probably should have given up on Weller a while ago but alas, i cant bring myself to do so with all the effort ive put in tracking down things over the decades. early KOL is best but still a good band glad you enjoyed - Lloyd
We can go back to those early solo albums of his.. Stanley Road is a good one too ! I got the idea to visit you from PC31.. Also Ben Rankins and Craig Sandry, and Harry Zlot Zlottos are favorite channels of mine "Down Under" Cheers from Nevada
Hi Lloyd - Weren't you going to get KOL on green vinyl? You changed your mind? I have found that their records always grow on me. I'm really liking 66 a lot. I will repeat here what I tell everyone who shows Hoodoo Gurus - I saw them at a street festival in San Antonio in 1985. They were great and I got Mars Needs Guitars soon afterwards. Looks like May was a purple month for you - rock on Lloyd!
Hi Randy, the green vinyl ended up being called "olive green" and didnt really show up that well in the video. i find the best albums are generally growers so looking forward to see how the KOL pans out over the next few listens. Hodoo Gurus are a great live act, sounds like you saw them literally in their prime, theyre touring here in december and am still deciding whether or not to buy tickets , i probably should because last time i saw them they could still rock it live. 66 is a good album for sure, not Weller's best still pretty good. i have been bombarded with "the purple one" over the last year and still discovering a lot of albums i never purchased. - Lloyd
Good selection Lloyd. I haven't heard any of Weller's solo album for a fair while now. That Boney-M box-set looks like a beast. Prince was a huge talent but for some reason I've never really got on with his music outside a few tracks here and there. Cheers, James
Hi James, thanks for watching and commenting mate. i wouldnt recommend anything by Weller from the last decade if im being honest, theyre things that only fans could appreciate. Boney M, a guilty pleasure for me. Prince, Lynne is the huge fan, i own a handful of albums and to be honest most people would only need a decent compilation. have a great weekend mate - Lloyd
Lloyd, you must have spent some good Aussie dollars on those Weller albums. Nice to see you fill some holes in your collection. That one of the few Prince albums I own. Cheers.
Hi Jack, thanks, i think i own four Prince albums plus a couple of compilations so im not a big fan unlike Lynne, Weller, yup great to plug those couple of holes, thanks for watching and commenting mate - Lloyd
Awesome you got all those Paul Weller albums. I’d love to have more by him on vinyl of course, solo that is, allthough my CD collection is prettt complete now 😊
@@MortenAastad Styler Council were great, especially 83-85, i saw them several times in october/november 1984 when i travelled back to the UK and Europe. i did a style council albums ranking video some time back on my channel. maybe i should rank his solo albums at some point?!! - Lloyd
Hi Lloyd New Subscriber here from NYC Nice to meet You Directed here by Ranking the Obscure I don’t make videos so i wont be entering contest but i do want to throw out 2 of your co patriots Silverchair and Daniel Johns solo work The Triffids Criminally neglected in VC Also Spain : Blue Moods of Spain one of my favorite albums that no one seems to own but me I am facility manager but in early days was.a Carpenter too ( I guess thats make us The ……. , ah forget it ) Food : I’m vegetarian but could never go Vegan because i love All Cheeses Instruments : owned and tried them all , very rudimentary Guitar and Keyboard If pressed i could hold my own on Blues Harmonica somewhere between Mick Jagger and Little Walter
Hi Jess, great to have you on board, hope theres some things you can watch and enjoy. Iain, is great as is his channel, i actually am UK born and came from a town not too far from Iain before emigrating as a child to Australia. Silverchair were a solid band, i like all of DJ's solo material except that last one he did but i guess thats the beauty of music. i saw The Triffids in a pub back in the day, sensational live act IMO. too bad you dont make videos but some nice answers to my competition questions anyway, i will have to check out Blue Moods Of Spain - Lloyd
@@LloydBoonworldofmusic2 Blue Moods of Spain is beautiful sounding album , very slow temp but wonderful guitar passages especially Untitled #1 Johnny Cash covered their song Spiritual
