Thanks for the review. I bought my first Nikon F2 in 1971 when I traded one of my Nikon F bodies for the new and improved F2. In 2001, I was taking a family portrait when one of the children said, "look Mom, an antique camera." I was insulted until I realized that my F2 was 30 years old and technically was an antique.
I have coveted the F2 since the 70’s and am finally in a position to relive my youthful desires. It’s a tank and makes beautiful contrasts images with the 85mm f2

4:15 You can use D lenses conveniently only on the F2A and F2AS models, which are usually two, three or four times more expensive than F2 with DP-1 finder; D lenses are a pain on the F2 original or with the DP-1. Today (10/17, 2021), a decent F2A titanium was sold for almost $900 EUR in German Ebay, F2's are not cheap.
„Will it impress anyone… no…“ I worked on a construction site in Massachusetts a few years ago, the guy I shared the office with saw me with an old FM once and knew I was into that filmy thingy. He only used his iphone, had never held a proper camera, film or digital. He thought me to be a bit strange, but who cares. One day I did not have the FM with me but entered with an F2AS with the 105 2.5 AIS on it. He threw one eye in my direction, saw the camera and „WTF is that? Not WHAT looks like a real camera….“ he was terribly impressed and could not even explain, why.
I recently bought an F2AS with a 55mm f1.2 lens and had it professionally serviced for an additional cost. Total out-lay was over £600 (UK sterling). Unfortunately, due to a physical disability, I'm finding it difficult to go out and use it. I yearned for this camera since the 70's when I was a teenager and now I've got one, it's more or less useless to me. So frustrating.....
I got one of these Nikon F2 Black body and it got the Nikon MD1 and the Nikon MB1 motor drive and it also got the Nikon DS1 metering attachments and I need to get it fixed and get a expousre meter HEAD for it and I PAID £10.00 for it from a friend of mine
Where did you get of a figure of 4 Grand on a F2??? as I see them on eBay for about $200 to $400 either from the US or Japan. Now I have an F2 as the year that it was made was 1974 why that year? OK that is when I graduated from High School as I was in the High School Yearbook, and Paper. But the camera that I was using was a Konica Auto SE 35mm RF, and a Praktica Nova 1B with a 50mm 2.8 Meyer Optik Domiplan as the lenses for 42mm Threaded is claiming more fame than the Nikkor 50mm as they have been seen on You Tube for Cinema users. But I did get a Nikon F 3 models, a 1968 & 1969 with the F36 drive, and then followed by the following - FG, FM, EL, F100, along with the classic 1960's Manual focusing Nikkor lenses. As I have to say that my 50mm Nikkor F/2.0 is all the most Sharpest 50mm I ever own. So where did you get of a figure of 4 Grand for an F2 - 1971? Big Deal... Now I am collecting Zeiss Jena Lenses for my shooting for both Film, and Digital, Be Creative as you do not have to Break the bank to get the most TOP OF THE LINE Expensive Camera, and Lens just to get a shot of the Pier - do ya?? And lastly, NEVER - NEVER - USE A76 Batteries!! Why they have a life span of 3 to 4 rolls of Film - Use MS76 Silver Oxide batteries, that they last for 3 years use, and also Never use the DL1n / 3volt lithium battery on the all the Nikons that takes this style of battery - due to that the DL1 is slightly taller than 2 MS76 batteries, AND it might loose the Battery compartment loose, and might lose battery content on the battery cap... - This is what 33 years in working at a camera store can do you in learning.....
Generically speaking, any F mount lens with focus and aperture rings will work on the F, F2, F3, F4 and a modified F5, in Manual Focus. I have an F2A, using a pre/non Ai lens is only slightly inconvenient to use the metering, as it only works in stopped down mode (press in on the DOF button). I press in the button with my right hand, and adjust with my left.
Thanks for the review.

Gee, I wonder what they would have said if you had a TLR? Lol
Really enjoyed your style of language, cool!

I have a black Nikon F2 with 50mm f1. 4 and 105mm f2. 5 lenses.. Excellent results from a 50 year old camera.
I feel the two best MF Nikkor lenses are the 55 Micro Nikkor 2.8 and the 28 2.8 ais. I would recommend those two.
It surely impress anyone who knows at least something in film cameras :)
John Smith: It impressed me back in the 1970s and it still does.

Nikkor "G" Lenses won't work on these manual focus Bodys, because they have no aperture ring on the lens :) ... still great video!

Will it impress anyone? No. Is it dependable? Yes. Classic.
This camera is for a select few, very few. It requires you to use your brain.
