Another tip I would like to give is don't play online chess if you're not focused enough and ready enough to play. Play when you won't be distracted.
YES 100% the amount of times I've been tired and lost Elo on chess.com is ridiculous. I should've covered this but one of the main things that helped me improve was playing at my local chess club and in tournaments over the board as, they allow you more time to think. I cant remember how many online games I've thrown in the past 😭So my advice would DEFININITLEY be to play more over the board as you can focus on your game and moves more also allowing you to remember your moves better and spot tactics and what not. And of coarse its more fun as well.
I'm just curious if one can earn titles like CM, FM, etc. in chess without belonging to an OTB chess club? Thanks in advance for your answer.
@@mathewsamuel1386 it would definitely help playing otb more, to get a higher rating however you don't have to. To get a recognised FIDE title you have to atleast be 2300 fide for FM
5:52 I’m a 1550 rated guy who literally hangs pieces in one move every other game. The only reason I’m 1550 is because I somehow bullshit my way into winning after
even at 2000 I do that sometimes😂 but all I'm trying to teach is to play in a more concrete non (hope chess) way as by not blundering pieces in the first place you'll be able to win more on average. by all means punish your opponent if they miss a tactic or hang pieces but all I'm saying is you shouldn't just rely on them the higher the rating ladder you go :)

As an 2000, one of the most important tips:when you get tilted, stop playing. You won't get your lost points back, you will lose more games and get more tilted. Stop and play another time when you're calm.
EXACTLY the amount of games I've thrown from being too tired or annoyed is ridiculous, trying to chase my losses and losing more and more games. I would've reached 2000 sooner 100% if I only played a few games a day.

I suppose as to be REALLY good you have to devote your entire life to the game.
These are good tips with these ill be able to reach 600 rating.

i think the most fun is playing as anonymous on lichess if you are bored and dont feel great
and playing rated only when you feel bored and great
playing anonymous is more fun than rated and builds positive association and curiosity

even a 500 rated player can play as a 1600 on a nice day so elo doesnt really matter in a match imo
what do you mean by playing anonymous like not seeing your opponents Elo?
also I agree what you said about a 500 being able to play better than their currant rating some of it is a psychological thing with being intimidated by your opponents Elo but also tiredness also. Or even the opening you get to play as you might know the position more, same way a 1500 might play like a 500 also.

@@calitreesweet yeah that's good I use that sometimes by playing unrated on my account on chess.com its good apart from the amount of cheaters I get and people quitting early as there is no obligation to play to win as no Elo is involved. If you wanna play anonymous for Elo id recommend this chrome extension I use that hides your opponents name and Elo until after the game :)

I disagree with studying master games at 1000-1500. That does nothing for me now let alone at that level.
That's Fair, I just thought id include it as its something I used to get a higher Elo as it helped me understand the middle game ideas of my openings more but it does take a lot of time to do. I do agree though that its more a higher level strategy to improve, although its still useful around 1500elo more so than 1000.😁

5:52 most people at this level absolutely do make one move blunders and hang their pieces. They blunder multiple times per game on average, and still reasonably often all the way up to 2000. Even up to 2200, people make simple tactical mistakes.
I suppose but they are of less common occurrence and you cant just rely on your opponents blundering every game in one move and playing hope chess like lower Elo ratings so I believe playing moves strategically/positionally is better but that's just my own opinion even though I even sometimes make stupid move and hang pieces in 1 move but lets not talk about that 😂
just lost three games from one move blunders as a 1300, but I do get some big brain moments so it’s worth it

2:43 Ok probably don't put the Knight on c3 in the Italian, usually you play c3 and d3.
I mean, does depend what line you want to play after Nf6 you could play the fried liver which is my favourite or even into the giuocco pianno. But for this level I think developing minor pieces like Nc3 controlling centre with pawns and getting to castle early is better for lower rated players of that level :)
Nc3 is totally viable even at 1500, it depends on your mittelspiel plan, really.
@@thejackmeistro The fried liver is not a great line objectively but I guess you can have some fun with it.
@@thejackmeistro The point of c3 is to control the center with a pawn, and the knight tends to be better placed on the kingside or on e3. Yes, Nc3 isn't a bad move, but it's just odd to recommend it.
@@DanLyndon I suppose its just i thought Nc3 was better suited for beginners and followed opening principles more if you want to play c3 as you get a higher rating that's fine as that's what I normally play, as the Italian is my go to opening as white or the fried liver attack its totally up to you and even some grandmasters play Nc3 i just suppose its more uncommon sorry if it was a bad recommendation.
