One of my best buddies!!!!!! Rand was his own man!!!! Played “Feelings”. Many times With him Entire Purcell family were and still are a Musical Force in the Pittsburgh Area His Son Shawn, his. Brother and of course Randy’s. Dad. Ron. Chick
This was his BEST line up as you can see Mark Colby is playing tenor sax. He left soon afterward on a solo career for Columbia and was replaced by Eric Traub.
Trombonist Randy Purcell died May 16th, 2009, at age 63. From a post on the MF forum, his sister wrote: "Randy passed away Sat. May 16th at 11:18 PM. He was ill for quite a while, and though we prayed for a recovery, he had lost his will to live. Unfortunately he died at the relatively young age of 63 years. The sun came down on him - but at least we can still see him and hear him play."
RIP Randy and Maynard. What a wonderful chart
Stan Mark RIP

High five and smiles say it all...they knew that it was pure gold!!!

Great trombone solo. Unfortunately Maynard could not resist hogging the limelight.
Great memories Randy.....
Why can’t this be on spotify
Maynard Ferguson and Randy Purcell are talented trombonists/trumpeters.
Randy is fantastic
proudly giving the 300th like :)
Idk tf disliked the vid but these are the greatest players in da world
kenneth futch I think he is ‘’very jazzy’’ musician 😆 cause jazz musicians don’t like pop music and jazz trumpet players don’t like Maynard Ferguson 🙂
excellent sound in that place
he was an alleged drug addict. I knew him as his father, jack, was my trombone teacher
@@putzgadol ok?
gracias despues de tiempos un buen video .randy purcell r.i.p
Amazing !
Outstanding!
Great chart. The arrangement and a lot of Randy's phrasing sounds a lot like Bob Flanagan from The Four Freshmen.
Randy sounded really good here about 99 percent of the time. Maynard himself maybe half as much. But nobody did anything bad, so that was good.
😊❤❤❤
Superb
😢
It's too bad that the CBC edited out a section of this performance
when this video went record?
How to find this song on Spotify ? I can't find no studio version ??
I think no studio version.. only live
Nice, thanks!
Trumpet players not very excited on behalf of the Trombone players...did they forget Maynard played bone and baritone horn?
Never seen Maynard ever use music.
Do you know which live is this from?
I would love to get this whole concert. Is it available?
Sox4Life all songs from that concert is on RUclips, I think except Chameleon
