I’ve got an lr3 had for two years had a new alternator and battery just as battery was the original so it was old as it’s 2005 reg but I love some have problems some go for years without any hit and miss but really nice drive with being air suspension amazing off road if you know how to drive off road

It's true you're seeing a training exercise under controlled circumstances in this video - we felt bringing a film-crew during a real crisis would be irresponsible and dangerous, and so we're sharing part of the ongoing training the Austrian Red Cross constantly engages in to keep their skills sharp instead!

Good question Stefan - this Land Rover Discovery was customised by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations team to the specifications of the Austrian Red Cross, and they prioritised other features over a winch - every element of this Discovery was designed to face the kind of challenges they regularly encounter, and anything deemed as extraneous was left-out to save on weight and improve performance - this is a piece of their arsenal of tools perfectly customised to fit their needs.
This Land Rover Discovery is primarily a search and rescue vehicle rather than an ambulance - locating getting a first response team out to a casualty as quickly as possible is vital in lifesaving situations, and this vehicle is designed to expedite that process.

Sydney I do wish the discovery did have the option of the SDV8. Lots of torque (740NM) and a fair bit of power (339HP), would make it a very strong workhorse. With that said the current 3.0L V6 diesel in the current UK discovery did see a performance boost to 700NM of torque and 306HP not too long ago. More than you'd get with a van and yet their happy enough carrying more weight than this car legally can.
