It's really sad seeing some of my favourite 3d printing youtubers promoting what the audio community considers to be a scam. The kit alone is $300+ Canadian, the kit includes $100 in speakers. The speaker cabs cost $100 to print + days of print time. There's no way printing these is worth it.
No one said you couldn't build it yourself. And why is it considered a scam? I watched a review by Zeos and last I checked he was pretty well respected still. He liked them too. I've listened to these myself and do quite like them. I think it's a cool way to meld 2 of my passions. Will they sound as good as my Acoustat The Monitor 4's? Of course not. But it's still fun!
@@3DMusketeers I think many consider it a scam because he's taking a $35 speaker and a $10 tweeter with some slapped together crossover and re-selling it at $219 He could drop a referral link and get people the components they need while still making decent money. He could sell the files for his cabs if they were worth buying. But, and I am looking at this objectively from a cost standpoint, they aren't worth it. This entire setup could be made out of MDF, that you have cut by home depot, for $150 with printed fronts.
@Cheddar-420 I mean, if we use that logic no one should ever pay Bowers and Wilkins a dime lol. This is the beauty of business, they can charge what they want. It's not a scam to charge for the time they have in developing, making custom cross overs, etc. people can pay it or they can buy the parts themselves and build their own crossover. The files are free so if you wanted to truly diy there isn't much stopping you, but having everything done, including PCB design and production in the states does add up.
