- In this video, we go over 40 fun but useless Overwatch related facts! There's a bit of everything in this video, from bugs and glitches to easter eggs and lore hidden in plain sight!
Overwatch 2 is an upcoming Free 2 Play sequel of Blizzard's hit game Overwatch. With its release, we'll be getting new heroes like Kiriko the fox girl, Sojourn and Junker Queen, and also new maps like Midtown and Rio! Plus a new battlepass system.

Number 11 reminded me about how at one point characters had lines recorded but never used referencing invisible enemies/Sombra. I believe most of them were generic, 'I think there's someone else here...' or things like that, but Moira, who was released a full year after Sombra, in particular would say: "Is that you, Sombra?". That line alone makes me wish they worked all stealth call-out lines in somehow.

Lucio also has a different voiceline when he’s wearing his jazzy skin. When you use the “turn it up in my headphones” voiceline, he will say “turn it up in my cans!”
I know another one is that Moira walking in first and third person has her hands in different positions (first person her hands are in front of her and in third person she is doing the funny Naruto run)
I mean to say, if she had her hands in front of her in third person she'd be doing a funny goblin run so she's cursed either way
Another instance is Reaper's reload. In first person, he throws his shotguns forward but in third person, he tosses them behind him.

To add on to Ana voice lines changing: Arabic has gendered nouns, pronouns, verbs, and plurals for male and female. Non-living objects and animals also get assigned a "metaphorical gender" as Arabic does not have an equivalent to the "It" pronoun in English. For a quick example, a chair is treated as a male noun and assigned a metaphorical male pronoun, but a table is assigned female nouns and pronouns.
When it comes to omnics, in my head there are two possible to translate that into Arabic. Either "robot" or "machine". My guess is that they ended up going with machine, which is assigned female nouns and pronouns, hence why Ana says "Nami" (the female gendered verb for sleep) when referring to them. Another factor that could have led to them choosing "machine" over "robot" is that the word "robot" does not have a translation in Arabic. Since "robot" is a new word even in English (only around 100 years old) there is no equivalent to it in Arabic, so the word is borrowed directly from English with a slight change in pronunciation.
I am not an expert in English or Arabic so apologies if that was poorly explained or if any of what I said was wrong. This is just off the top of my head because I thought some might find it cool to know why the voice lines are the way they are lol.
The term is “grammatical gender.” No “metaphor” is involved whatsoever.

i’m pretty sure you use the feminine ver of words for things that don’t fit the binary in french as well and im going to make an assumption this happens for most languages?
Bastion also has his pirate ship skin and with ow2 soldier and cass will get one too also there’s a wanted poster for Ana in Temple Of Anubis and she has the highest bounty at 70 mil

Here's a fun fact! In the second attacking spawn in King's Row, there's a painting of a man riding a horse. The main person in focus is actually directly based off a hero that was pitched during development named McCloud.

I wanted to write an explanation but it turned out confusing since arabic is a bit complicated so its better if you try it in the game :)

Basically, nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc change when used to address someone based off their gender. For example, “Warihum Iwit-ick” would be used to address a female. “Warihum Iwit-ack” would be used to address a male. There are a lot of examples of this in Arabic and you’re right, it’s very complicated, but languages be like that sometimes. 😂

If OW2 gets the Summer Games event, there needs to be a javelin throw minigame where you’re forced into playing Orisa and seeing how far you can throw your javelin compared to other players.

I also noticed that echo can say hello differently based on certain friendly teammates next to her such as:
Dva- hiya
Mccree/cassidy- howdy

Similarly to the mei difference with voice line/ skin, zen has one with his cultist skin where the voice line saying “the iris embraces you” switches to “ the iris consumes you”
I love Soldier's Grillmaster 76 skin where he says "Respect the chef"
I can tell how happy you were sharing that cat fact from your voice alone
5:35 same goes for OW2 main menu screen. There's a huge speaker next to Junker Queen that will stop moving when you turn the music off

Fun fact in deathmatch if you are holding mercys staff it will change to her pistol after its over
Similar to 39 but if you select Ashe’s red riding hood skin and use the crouching victory pose she moves her gun slightly to cover up her underwear to avoid creeps staring between her legs
She does the same altered victory pose in her beach skin.
The announcer at Blizzard world for the roller coaster isn't Uther, it's Deckard Cain.
I was going to say "That not Uther, that sounds like Deckard Cain to me."

By the way Soujorn also waves with her right hand and Bastion also has a pirate themed skin!
hey, the junker queen has two melee and waving animations. one each with the blade and one if the blade is stuck in the enviroment.

The flapjacks line is also a reference to the bill Murray film “groundhog day” where after going on a DUI rampage realizing he can do what ever he wants with no consequences, he gets pulled over and asks for food, to which a guy riding with him drunkenly asks for flap jacks and Murray adds that to the “order” asking if it’s too early for flapjacks.

The Mei let it snow thing reminds me of normally Zen says, “Peace and blessing upon you all” for one of his voice lines but when equipping the cutest skin, he then says, ”Curses and Madness upon you all”.

Since I'm a big fan of the movie Groundhog Day I have to point out it wasn't mentioned that the flapjacks line is from the movie, which is why there's a groundhog on that poser in Route 66.
6:38, the same thing happened with dva’s sitting victory pose for her school girl skin but not for the black cat one (and the recolor) last time i checked
Moira is the only hero that can both wave and melee with either hand randomly.
Also, I'm pretty sure Sombra is the only hero who uses a one-handed weapon that melees with said weapon instead of her offhand
Oh wow! I'm so glad you touched on the speedrun. I never personally submitted a run, but I do remember playing Tutorial 2.0 in my spare time, and was able to bring my PB down to a 4:01. The world record for 2.0 is 3:52.920 by Burchase, where it will infinitely stay, as the current version of the run is Tutorial 4.0, but I fondly remember dismantling Burchase's run for a whole weekend and really trying my best to improve. I should see if I'd do any better in 4.0... maybe I'll even submit a run.
Zenyatta also has alternate voicelines for his cultist skin. There are a few, but the one I remember is "blessings and something upon you" turns into "curses and madness upon you". I only play his cultist skin haha so I forget the originals.
Zen has a voiceline that says “can i think, can a submarine swim?” And echo has one that says “a submarine cant swim”
when using the wolf skins for hanzo.
his voiceline for ''i choose you, spirit dragon'' changes into '' i choose you, spirit wolf''
and his ult changes into a pair of wolfs instead of dragons.

One of Widow's voice lines is a modified, bleaker version of a French saying based on spiders: Araignée du matin, chagrin, araignée du soir, cauchemar. (spider in the morning, sorrow, spider in the evening, nightmare)
The original saying: araignée du matin, chagrin, araignée du midi, souci, araignée du soir, espoir (spider in the morning, sorrow, spider at noon, worry, spider in the evening, hope)
Not sure if that's the one you were referring to but when you said Widow's tattoo was based on a French superstition about spiders I immediately thought of this voice line.

For 18, bastion also has a pirate skin. It's an owl token skin and he looks like a pirate ship.
How about Moira doing "Naruto run" in third person while her hands are always up to her chest in first person?
my guess is ball was originally planned to have a crouch but they probably realized how useless it is for a giant round creature to duck. his crouch looks like his sit animation, which makes me think this was intentionally put into the game and not some sort of weird "forced hammond into the ground" sort of scenario where people do weird leg poses .
also i literally discovered weightless by accident 10 mins after i got it the day it was released because i was dancing on a roadhog's head during a customs game and they left the game. me and another echo just made each other float to the skybox it was fun. its such a cool feature and i hope they do more crazy emotes like that.

The things on Tracer’s lower arms are used to store her guns. It can be seen when using her “finger guns” emote
this is a really well made video and i really enjoyed it. But just so you know, Zenyatta technically shows his feet when you melee with him.
For fact 22, I wonder if we’ll see more characters get reworks based on their summer games spray. We NEED a BMXing Reaper.

For info, Ana’s nam/nami is her asking the playing to go sleep in Arabic, and that’s nam if you’re talking to a male and nami for a female, which has… implications??
I mean, i could see the sigma variant of the all pirate comp being pretty good on first point defense anubis…..if it still existed
On Widowmaker's Scorpion skin, her venom mine has a little scorpion tail on it. Definitely my favorite little detail!
Ana isn’t actually calling somebody “Naami” or “Naam” when she sleeps them. “Naam” or “نعم" is the Arabic verb for sleep! So she is telling someone to sleep, not referring to them as something!
True and I’d like to add a few facts:
In Arabic we have have 2 verbs for male and female people
Naam is for male people
Naami is for female people
(نام) for male
(نامي) for female

Just an unmentioned useless fact, Soldier 76 has the voiceline 'That's 'sir' to you', but if he says that with the Grillmaster 76 skin equipped, he will say 'That's 'Chef' to you'. (No disrespect, but it's a fun fact.)
It also changes his line “Respect your elders” to “Respect the chef”

Maybe they recorded the voice lines about the generator because they want to implement it with a new hero. I liked the shield gen, I miss it. It was huge utility, and so fun to find cheeky spots to hide it.

There is also a great Bastion pirate skin that they released for the Overwatch League last year during the Countdown Cup
in my years of playing overwatch ive never seen anyone point out that, on dorato you can shoot the pay phones and theyll spew out coins with clinking sounds, but if youre playing on console edition, the sound will play but no visual coins will come out
I think Ana says “nami(نامي)” to bastion because he is a machine which is in Arabic is “Ah’la(آلة)," and this noun uses feminine pronouns.

As of now rammatra also has a different animation on 1st and 3rd person of casting his pull skill. You can have it look like hes patting your teamates head if you know where to aim haha

about lucios weapon volume thing not moving when without sound. the same is true about the speakers on the opening menu in the 2nd beta. when you got music off they wont move, but if you have the music on, they will move as long as junkerqueens rock jingle plays.

in latin spanish, ana has two voice lines for ulting when she is a teammate and she's ulting either a teammate or you, depending if the hero is male or female she would say:
"estás potenciado, ataca!" or
"estás potenciada, ataca!"
however, when she nano bob, since the game thinks is an ash entity, she says the female version of the line on bob.
