- The new wildlife overpass on I-80, just west of Parleys Summit, is now complete! In coordination
with UDWR this overpass, the first in the state designed and built solely for wildlife, will help
improve safety by cutting down on the high number of wildlife-related collisions in the area. In
order to make the crossing as successful as possible, it’s important that the overpass is used by
wildlife only. Check out this video and help us spread the word to #KeepItWild! Наука
These should be everywhere as needed. Great Idea.
This should be common place! #SaveWildlife
The United States needs more bridges like this. Love this idea💗
These need to be built over all highways worldwide!!
They do, we have them in europe (where I live we have them since 2008 i think)
Fantastic idea -- Legislators made a WISE and SMART decision -- THANK YOU so much.
I saw this before and then just now again, and I soooooo love this, and I agree, this would be great to have all throughout the country! Thank you for this life-saving idea for humans and animals!
more states need to implement this!! wonderful idea!
What an awesome idea! We need more wildlife bridges all across the country!
UDWR has given a chance for wildlife to survive better...That's #wildlifeinnovation...The animals are smart, they will use this overpass more frequently.in coming time...and they will sure thank Utah transportation for this. Let's #keepitwild
YES! We need more of this. It's time we care for the animals on our planet and give them safe ways to cross the road.
I forgot they did this till I saw a Facebook post from a page called "the dodo" and I saw that its working and this is what makes me love people. Absolutely such a great and smart idea. You guys are the best!
Here from Reddit--what a great undertaking! Thanks to all involved!
Utah DOT GREAT JOB! THANK YOU FOR BUILDING THIS
Helping wildlife survive in a human dominated world has to be done, we need to do so much more ,every bit helps. Good work
Thank you for the safety of the animals AND people ❤️💗
I just saw an article about this and the animals are using the bridge and way sooner than expected. This might be the nicest thing I’ve ever read about Utah
Great idea! ALL states need put these crossings over toll rds, bypasses, major highways.
Amazing. We need more of these. ❤
Anyone who doesn't appreciate this act of kindness especially in these times... Doesn't deserve to be alive. Thanks from L.A.
This makes me sooooooooo
Happy❤❤❤❤❤❤😀😀😀😀😀😀
brilliant! now construct 50 more that are 3x larger along the rest of that highway and all the other highways in the state
This is something i'd imagine Oregon would have done.
im glad someone did this
That great do more
Proud to call Utah home!
What a wonderful thing to do I am so grateful they did that it is beautiful
This is so cool, wish this would happen everywhere
Well done... BRAVO !!!!
Keep those great ideas coming.
We need many many more!
There is a recent video of this bridge on Facebook showing all kinds of animals, cats, bears, fox, coyotes Deer and more animals using it. I wish it was on RUclips also as I would share with friends who don't use Facebook. This bridge works as it was designed.
there is genius then there's GENIUS need more of many many more
They should have video of animals using this crossing by now.
Agree!
I just watched 2 videos of animals crossing through a log, then this popped in my recommended. I was excited to see what kind of animals would be caught crossing a man made bridge... but it turn out to be just a "we are better than you" video.
I'm disappointed!
@@aimere tell me why I'm here exactly for the same reasons you are. Most likely the same 2 videos
Check Facebook, that’s why I’m here now.
There's videos now.
There are videos
I have always been shocked and appalled at the graveyard of mammals, house pets, turtles, snakes, birds on the shoulder of our roads. This is wonderful and a great use of tax dollars! BTW : Many other countries including Canada have been doing this for decades.
Outstanding
It's smart to see this , it's stupid to believe it wasn't built when the road was
Omg finally 🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great point about asking Folk to stay away from the over pass
Awesome
What a great IDEA! ( Wonder if the animals thanked them ) 😂
Great idea! Animals are territorial though, so not all the animals will use this one bridge. More bridges please!
Really a great idea!
Is there a livestream available anywhere?
In Canada 🇨🇦, along the Trans Canada HYW, we have bridges like this, well expended my tax dollars ☝️
This bridge was made in 2018... 😕 Yet I live in Utah and have never heard of it at any point.
Why can't ALL news organizations report stuff like this?!?? 🤦 I don't even like "Now This" (where I happened to first see this a little bit ago) because they've lied a few times, but if all types of news organizations would use even just HALF of their time reporting things that can uplift & restore #FaithInHumanity then we'd not have so many problems of depression, hate, arguing, and general misery. 🙄
I try to #ShareGoodness and tag it as such (or #ShareGoodNews) to make it easier to find, maybe if a person reads my comment they can try to do the same? 🤷🙏😐
How far out of their way do the buddies go to use it?
Doe anyone know if there is a webcam like with similar overpasses?
Add a live feed please
❤👌
They should build big enough bridges for animals to cross, size should big as football field.
in before hunting cats start chilling just out of sight near either end of the bridge, then double-teaming the animals trying to cross.
Yes, let nature take it's course. At least the strong prey have a chance unlike having to deal with high powered rifle or a 4 ton mass moving at 70 mph.
Is there a website for the overpass Webcam on Parleys Canyon. My problem is that Utah State personnel will over state claims as to how many animals use this Wild game over pass. It will also show how many humans are harrasing the animals.
Go to i-90 from Wisconsin to North Dakota there is 100s of deers and foxes run over by cars so hopefully my comment can help this animals because the dead body of animals is over is really heartbreaking 💔 😢
It's a nice start, but I think a way to narrow, should be like 4 times the size. Also missing vegetation. It's in it's current version, a good place for predators to snatch some prey.
It is at 40°45'12.4"N 111°37'26.9"W
That's nice and all... but very telling that they didn't have any video of animals using the bridge to cross the road.
David Wyrick because it's a waste of tax payer money! Some pos environmentalist came up with this braindead idea instead of better utilizing the tax payer money!
Imagine how many people could been helped get out of poverty find a job with the couple hundred thousands of dollars used for this ridiculous garbage!
They do, they're on facebook, not youtube. And I suspect this video is older than the post date.
@David Wyrick - Check out another video and you will see it that is being well used to cross over the interstate
How are the animals supposed to know to take that bridge. ? Build more
It's crazy how that one dude sounds EXACTLY like Markiplier
The idea makes sense. But, I did not see one animal using the bridge.

This is Wonderful We need to spot the so called sport of killing hunting animals in the U.S. doing things like this shows real compassion
something we seem to be losing in this country, this is a great thing Hats off to Utah
It would be great if DOTs contributed GIS data - like wildlife overpasses and underpasses - to OpenStreetMap. Bonus points for Mapillary street-level images. (Anyone can create an account and contribute to both.)
Rest of the world...please copy this simple yet effective concept
For those of you who are wondering if the animals actually use it, please check out all of the other videos available on RUclips that show that it is very definitely being used.
Do I have to call them up and show it to you or read it to you?
Numb nuts
Dislike peoples is a animal hunter
I have to say, I thought this was the biggest waste of money when I first saw it, because how would the animals know that they could cross there? It's not like they can read road signs! "Overpass ahead: 1mi"
But after watching the videos showing all the different animals, from a cute chipmunk, a family of deer, a burly black bear, a slow-poky porcupine, and the random meandering moose, I would like to see more of these wildlife overpasses in other states. If there is an old bridge, scheduled for destruction, it could be transformed into one of these pretty easily and inexpensively.
I hope they’re actually arresting anyone who is disrespectful enough to intrude on this bridge, and charging a HUGE fine! It would be a tragedy if idiot humans ruined this amazing endeavor!
This is infrastructure I can get behind. Something worthwhile for our tax dollars.
"We wanted it to blend in with the natural surroundings of the area." But made it with nothing but rocks and boulders. Love the idea though.
Sounds good, we have had one near here for quite a few years and I don't know of anyone seeing an animal use it. I've heard that it's worked in Europe but the crossing is a 1/4 mile wide with a tunnel going under it for the vehicles.
Has any animal committed suicide by jumping off the bridge into traffic?
Wow I can't imagine any animal crossing that!
A bottle neck for hunters, but I bet shooting over a highway would be against the law there.
Can you get a hunting permit for the crossing?
Do you enjoy killing living things? I'm sure you can avoid the cameras though.
@@qa4057 i enjoy eating game. There are no trophies hanging on my wall. However I don’t object to legally harvested game. Unlike you
@@MrSanteeclaus Go to the grocery store you sociopath. It's 2020
@@qa4057 Go to the grocery store? Not everyone is a vegetarian, don’t push your bullshit on others
@ 0:42 her name is Krachel? WTF
They're so proud of it, like they're sure it will work, yet the animals never use it in the video.
Maybe go watch a recent video of tons of animals using this very overpass. Do your research before you post unsubstantiated bullshit.
And Biden didn't win the 2020 election right?
If there is any way to ruin this wonderful creation some human animal will figure out a way to do so. We are the worst creatures on this earth.
jajaaja! show a single video of single animal crossing...
This cost barely anything compared to the amount of money spent on wasted shopping malls. they can easily build more of these bridges. those couple boulders come on. trying to make it seem like they spent a lot on this, they could do more than that. Job isn't done. Build more
Makes me wonder why they didnt show any wildlife on the wildlife overpass
Try using the search tool genius

Hilarious. Not much imagination in the rock placement etc. Must have been tendered to lowest bidder. Animals are rolling their eyes...” cheap bastard humans”. Oh well, better than nothing at all. Well done to the initiators of this project
bet not one animal has crossed this
you lose buddy. Go get lost.

Don't go to casino dude.
Show video of multiple animals using this or admit that it was a waste of taxpayer dollars. Hey, who knows, maybe it works. Not likely.

I'll bet you thought that when tRump said we'd build a wall and Mexico would pay for it
I don’t buy it they cross over wander down get curious and run cross the road .. I mean their animals they don’t. Look at each other and say dude what are you doing let’s use safe bridge humans made for us ....I assume they have 10 foot tall fences for miles on both sides .. not to mention cougars etc have a new dinner spot ...
