Thank you for the great tutorial! After watching I changed out both running lights in my '08 Tahoe. It only took me 1 hour from start to finish. Probably could have done it in half the time with your Little Helper.
I just changed mine on a 2007 Tahoe. You do not have to take the rubber off the wheel well to do this. Just take off the six 10mm on the front grill and the two 10mm off the light assembly and you can pull the grill back far enough to get your arm in there to change the running light. Now the others, I don't know if you can do this, but you can easily access the running lights this way.
Thank-You For Making These 2 Videos On Changing The Daytime Running Lights !!! ..... Your 2 Videos Are The BEST That I've Watched !!! ( I Am Still So Taken Back By Having To Go Thru SO Much - Just To Change The Bulbs..... It Used To Be Just A Couple-Minute Job.... Crazy How They Changed Things - To Be So Time Consuming & A Pain In The Butt. ) - You Did SUCH A WONDERFUL Job On Showing & Explaining It.... Making It Less Complicated !! THANK-YOU !!! ☺
Great video man, you're better than I would replacing that broken part. Love , love, your niece helper. She's the best . looking for video on replacing the Daytime sensor?? Whey your niece has time Lol
Mike Hubert, they have since traded it off on a Toyota rx something or other suv. She doesn’t miss the $1000-$1500 oil changes. Lol. Was always something else wrong with it every time. So far the usedToyota just cost her the oil changes. Nothing else
This video was awesome! My Tahoe is a 2011 but everything was basically the same. I did have to loosen the grill a tad so I could get to the bulb but other than that I got it done. Thank you again!
UncleMarks DIY Automotive Fix it channel. It might easy considering what the garage says they want to do but a pain is say in comparison to my 06 cm sierra. No tools required. 2 L shaped pins you pop rotate and the whole assembly comes out. No need to mess with the grill and and inner fender like that. My wife's 08 suburban, like that Tahoe, is a royal pain. Thanks for the video for I was about to just yank that light out and call it a day. Crazy designers always wanting to complicate things more than they need to be to make the service department money hand over fist. Anyways, thanks again.
So glad it helped you too! One of the few things we still can do as vehicle owners anymore. Some of the new vehicles you can change bulbs but they don't work until you "code them" to the vehicle with a scan tool!
Maybe it's different for an '07 Tahoe, but with my '09 you just loosen the the two 10 mm bolts and you can pull the headlight right out. It's a tight fit, but it comes out and it's easy.
Maybe someone already broke our side tabs (the bolt behind the inner fender well cover that he took off) on the headlight bezel off but my '07 I just took the bolts up on the core support loose and popped the bezel loose and got my hand behind it. No grille nor any of the front valance or inner fender well bolts had to come loose on my '07 either.
I replaced with LED lights. Hope they last longer than incandescent. Seems like a lot of Tahoe's, Suburbans and GMCs are driving around with one or both lights out. Mine is a 2013. 4 year life on these bulbs suck. Hope to not replace LEDs for a long time. LEDs are polarity sensitive though. Be sure they work before tightening everything up. You may have to remove and do a 180 on the bulb.
Phil Sissons, very good tip about LED polarity. Some have 2 leds ,and some have 3 or more. They all project the light differently. Hope your last longer than the OEM bulbs.
Check out my LED replacement bulbs here at Amazon. They have way more than 3 LEDs - i didn't count, but looks like 50 or so! I knew the 30K hour service life would be enough. I didn't read the part about "non polarity design" the first time and was surprised that I got them oriented properly on the first try. That explains that! They are expensive compared to incandescent bulbs, but if automakers would charge us up front for them, the repair people couldn't rip us off! www.amazon.com/iBrightstar-Newest-Projector-Replacement-Reverse/dp/B01MDUEBX1/ref=pd_nav_hcs_bia_i_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=F6H2V73HV28C54H6T4P0
GM likes to showcase these. Daily, I could count the One-Eyed Silverado’s, Suburbans, & Tahoe’s...Stupid Design Failure. They should be required to change these for $20 Every Time They Fail...idiots!
Great information! I just recommend talking through the process first before jumping in. Alternatively the video could use some additional editing. 4 minutes should be sufficient. I've been scanning around your video however it took a while to understand you are only removing a portion of the bumper cover...
flashstar99, thanks! All good points. I have a bit better editing software since that video, and hope i am doing a bit better job now that i am 180 more videos past this one. (This was #19) I can alway improve, and hope to do so! The niece and I never had done that particular job before so we were learning along with everyone watching and I was not sure how much we had to take apart. Lol.
@@unclemarksdiyauto Thanks for the follow-up! No worries, it definitely gets the point across. I'm glad you and your niece are making informative videos. They always help fellow DIYers. I will make sure to check your channel if I need help with problems in the future!
Wow they was finna jack ya for 800 wtf man Hey by any chance do you know why a Tahoe would have two alternators and two batteries running ? For what purpose ?
GM sux - $800 to change the bulb, no wonder the government had to bail them out. Terrible engineering design and complete rip off to get standard maintenance work done. Thanks for the video -
And since this was built, it has only gotten worst! Thanks for watching Douglas. Now the newer vehicles won't let you swap a identical radio, or even the vehicle battery without programming it to the vehicle. Actually the same with some headlights and other things as well. They simply will not turn on until you take a trip to the dealer.
Had my running & headlights replaced...think they said $80..in around 2014...that was before I wised up and did youtube videos..I put in All LED lights two yrs ago..I'm not mr handyman but do things within my limits!
It looks like a lot of manufacturers are doing similar stupid things. I hope your truck is more reliable than her's was. She finally got rid of it and has not looked back. They do ride and drive nice though.
Sorry man but can the little girl. Not necessary, distracting and she put a grinding halt to the tutorial. I have nothing against nieces or nephews or grandchildren, but not in the middle of a tutorial. Totally useless.
It was a unexpected video. Was visiting and this issue arose. Since i was looking after her, what can I say. There is a part 2 which finishes it off. Think their is a link at end of video. You are the first person to not find some use from the video. If you check out my latest videos, you will see no children are in them. Lol

Way to multitask! Kudos to your niece! :)
I believe it’s great to incorporate your grandchildren into this, wonderful sir.
Thanks Michael. A bonding experience for sure! Was a fun time!
Thanks for the great video! I'm only missing one thing, Little Helper with flashlight😊 lol

Great hired help for the day... she's awesome!!!
It was a fun afternoon, many years ago now! She is much older but still a cutie.
Jade is the star of the show.

Glad you were able to do it! You saved some cash Missy!
Thank you for this useful video ... The little girl made it fun
If I'm not mistaken, you can simply remove the air filter cannister on the passenger side, and your bulbs should all be there in view.
Not the DRL. That is for headlights only
Not a Suburban. You have to do it just the way this guy is showing. There’s no easy way around it.
Tony, it was easy! Yep. Crazy what shop wants to do this!

My sister finally traded it off on a used Lexus SUV! The Tahoe was in the shop all the time, the Lexus has only been in for oil changes!
Did the led fix your issues?? I just bought all new headlights and replaced with LEDs and I’m about to install soon
Thank you !!!
Your welcome Hector! Just be careful with those bolts inside the fender that holds the headlight.
Thanks bud
Hope it helped
Adorable
I know. And the niece is too!
Will changing to LED chause hyper flash?
If the LED's claim they are Canbus ready, then "supposedly not." But I have seen where you have to purchase additional resistors to compensate.

I was able to change my own bulb
That is great Sandra! Can you imagine all the people that have paid crazy prices to have this done and then find out it is this easy?
Wow they was finna jack ya for 800 wtf man
Hey by any chance do you know why a Tahoe would have two alternators and two batteries running ? For what purpose ?
I have no idea.
3157 Led would have been a nice choice.
Armen JS Martin, yes, but sister was just happy to get lights working! This video and repair was a spur of the moment thing! Thanks for watching.
They will get to hot
I replace the OE clear bulbs with amber ones. Believe it or not, the amber lights run a bit cooler and are easier to see in the daylight.
GM sux - $800 to change the bulb, no wonder the government had to bail them out. Terrible engineering design and complete rip off to get standard maintenance work done. Thanks for the video -
they should have did it like the 2006 or before Silverado etc.. mostly DIY repairs etc..
Hey guys.... I have an idea... I have this here light bulb.... anyone want to help me build a truck around it..... Lol... gotta love engineers....

$800...that's some exchange rate 😬
They just trying to rip her off. Should have quoted maybe $125? (1 hour) They claimed they had to remove bumper etc.

If I knew how stupid the designers of this truck were I wouldn't have bought one. But they don't make most vehicles with the consumer in mind

800$ is a scam look for a local body shop they do it for 130$ to take off the bumper
punker4Real, or just do what me and my little niece did with a couple of basic tools. Yep $800 is a rip off...
I'm normally charge 60 too 80 the most
