I always remembered it this way.
llevar - to bring, to carry, to wear
tomar - to take
I know that it is more nuanced than this, but i found this to be a good start.
Ultimately, this is all resolved with more listening and reading because the proper situations for the verbs is revealed by listening to others or reading.
Whatever works for you is good. And of course, context is everything

Intente unas oraciones con Llevar.
1. Llevo en mi mochilla todo lo que necesario para hacer mis examen de matematics.
2. Los lideres de mi pueblo llevo a cabo un plan para castigar los adultos que tiran basura por todos lados.
3. Cuando era nino, mi mama siempre me llevaba de la mano fuera de la casa.
4. Me llevo bien con todos mis vecinos.
5. Me llevo muy mal con los que no ocupan de los tuyos.
6. A mi amigo que lleva la camiza azul con mangas largas, se ve genial como siempre.
7. Estamos en la estacion de llovia, por ende, voy a llevarme el paraguas todos los dias, por si las moscas.
Muy bien el uso de llevar pero algunos pequeños errores como "Los líderes de mi pueblo LLEVAN a cabo (Los líderes = ellos)
#6 no usus A al principio en esta oración.
7 diríamos temporada de lluvia o lluviosa.
