I knew lawn chairs could be re-webbed because I'd seen my dad do it several times when I was a kid, but that was about 50 years ago and Dad is no longer with us (rest his soul), and our chairs were getting to the point where I was afraid my husband would sit down in one and keep on going down! Thanks to you, we now have new-looking lawn chairs in our team colors. Thank you!!!
Great video. Thanks for helping me learn how to reweb my old rocking lawn chair. It was so easy to understand what to do. I rocked all my grandbabies to sleep in this chair in my house. I was so happy to have rewebbed it instead of having to throw it away. Lots of good memories .. Hopefully I will someday rock my great grandchildren as well. Thank again
My Grandfather used to do this for me but I never paid attention. Now I have 4 Lounge Chairs that were blue and 4 chairs exactly like yours, red. My husband wanted to throw them all away because the webbing is all rotted but now I can fix them so they all match! Thank you so much for this simple tutorial!
I have an old lawn chair with the clips and had no idea where to begin. After watching your video, I'm pretty confident in rewebbing the lawn chair. Your video is easy to follow and you explain well. Thanks for making it!
This is wonderful. I never knew you could re-web these chairs. I don't think many people know this, since so many are trashed just because the webbing went bad.
OMG, thank you for this! I almost tossed those old clips from the sofa I am working on. This is a really well done video. Short. Concise, goes over all the ways to tack the webbing to metal.
Great video. I followed your instructions and it came out quite good, but not as tight as the original webbing, because you need enough slack over the holes in the frame to slip the clips in. Seems to be useable though, and it looks much better! Thanks!
Thank you for posting this. I have a couple of chairs I would like to try to re web. I have ordered the webbing off of ebay and after watching your informative video I will try this task.
Thanks so much for a video with the clip version of strap replacement. I scored a wonderful beach chair from the trash and am going to give it some new life.
I was on the verge of throwing some good frames away. Now that I've seen this I'm gonna give re-webbing a try. I re-webbed the screw type years ago. Thanks.
buckonews Glad you didn't throw those frames away (unless you happen to live next door to me and I could have scavenged them :). Good luck on the re-webbing!
This is EXACT tutorial I needed, as my chairs all have these clips, not the screw in type. Although, I noticed that you used the wrong size of webbing. It does come in 3" wide as well. Don't feel bad, I've done the same thing in the past, and the chair still preforms the same.
Thank you for the video.... You seem to have the same problem as I do. My current strap width is 2.75 in, but all I can find is either 2 or 3 inch width for replacement. Your blue replacement strap looks narrower than the original. Does a narrower strap change your comfort level in your chair?
Laurence Deutsch All I see is a green screen, but when I put my mouse on the play sign I can see very small pictures but no sound by going shot by shot.
I"m on a tight budget and have an old 3 seat porch swing. Do you think I could replace the material that holds the cushions with this? Is it hard to drill holes in the metal to attach the screws? Do you know of a video that would address this ?
It's probably not very hard to drill new holes. It depends on the metal though. Aluminum is a piece of cake to drill. Iron and steel tend to be harder but you don't need very big holes so it shouldn't be too hard. Unfortunately, I don't know of any videos that could help with your specific situation.
Thank you for this video. The metal parts on my chairs look like they could last 100 years, and I have gotten my webbing, but the plastic arms on the chairs are brittle and have broken-is there anything I can do to repair those parts? Thank you.
R. Price Glad you liked the video. If it were me, I'd try to make new armrests out of wood. Unfortunately, I don't know where you can buy replacements. Maybe someone else does?
+R. Price I have looked EVERYWHERE. No luck. Having wooden arms made sounds like a good idea to me. Else, only buy with wooden arm rests next. Wasted a lot of time on this. NO ONE seems to sell just the arm rests. Wooden set on ebay but 2 inches too short for me and I need 2 sets!
If your working on a budget or not really using your lawn chair for lawn decoration you should try using pool noodles cut to length and than wrapping them in place with duct tape.
What no one wants to mention apparently is that one- this is a very tedious job and two- while yes, you can do this- it will never be as tight as it was originally. That’s why people throw them away I’m guessing. Their time & money is worth $30
Yeah I've been looking on utube for if you can make it as tight as the originally. Didn't watch this guy all the way thru, just figured after watching a few minutes that he wasn't interested in tightness.
Question..how would I web a lawn rocker, that didn't have webbing on it, but rather had nylon cloth type material on it. But I would like to put webbing on it.
Hi I just watch this video how do you call that kind of webbing. English is not my first lenguaje I am in Canada I want to fix my lawn chairs and I can't find the material.
A variety of colors can be found on Amazon. Not sure about second question. Measure all of the straps your chair currently has, then add 6 inches onto each to be safe.
Thanks. Good instructions but these clip things are just difficult and fickle. Anyone trying this should just get screws. I just redid my chair with clips. Pulled tight. Did everything right. Sat in it, and now there is just a tiny bit of slack on all the webs but its enough for the clips to start falling out all over the place. Very annoying. SCREW IT! SKIP THE CLIPS!!
You folks who think reusing the clips is easy either: (a) have not yet tried it, or (b) settled for loose webbing. I find it impossible to get the webbing tight using the little clips. Next I will try using screws. If that does not work, the old chairs go in the trash.
You obviously have not done this, the clip orientation is correct.Sadly you are wrong, just did mine and those clips are installed the same as they are from the factory.
So, to use screws you just fold it over? Ummm...maybe mention you need something sharp to poke a hole through the material because most screws are flat tipped. I found this video useless.

Thanks for a Gr8 presentation. Needed info for my first attempt at re-webbing some vintage lawn chairs from the 70's. God Bless You!
Great video. Thanks for helping me learn how to reweb my old rocking lawn chair. It was so easy to understand what to do.

That's great! I'm glad my video was helpful.

Great video. Very concise delivery without too much information. Nicely done.
Yeah, it was a good video!!!
Simple but most people throw away the chairs.
You have shown it is simple and recyclable.
Thanks , Mike
Sadly, you got the clips BACKWARDS! The hook has to turn the other way so it won't pull out. This makes it much harder to install. Look again......
This is wonderful. I never knew you could re-web these chairs. I don't think many people know this, since so many are trashed just because the webbing went bad.
You would be surprised how many people don't know this.
OMG, thank you for this! I almost tossed those old clips from the sofa I am working on. This is a really well done video. Short. Concise, goes over all the ways to tack the webbing to metal.
Great job found it very useful. I have an old chair that the webbing is splitting. You made it look easy.
A helpful demo, especially those closed captions for non-native English speakers. Thanks.
+jkwo2007 I'm glad you liked it.
these chairs are so versatile and comfy, thanks for helping us keep them out of the land fill!

I have some that I need to replace the webbing. Thank you so much for this great video.

Thanks for the video. Searched here for this and was glad you took to time to show me how.Going to fix my two favorite lounge chairs. Wish me luck.

Thank you for posting. It was just what I was looking for!
Now I can order some webbing and some tools and reweb our folding chairs, and don't have to throw them out.
Thank you for the video....

Dude! Exactly what I was looking for for an interior lounge chair I wanted to make using iron pipes. Thank you!
Awesome! I'm glad I could help.
Hi, V. Was just looking for a video on this and was surprised to see an old blue streaks classmate. -J.S.
Hey! What a small world!
I'll never do it, so why I keep watching 😁
Excellent instrcutions. Anyone can do this. Thank you!
Laurence Deutsch Glad you found it helpful.

Very well done video!
Very good video....you are great at being to the point and good at educating

very simple straight forward video,
and gets the message across. Thanks!
Awesome. Good to know. Thanks for posting this. I will use this in the future!
If you fold the chair , you didn't get loose or pullout the ribbon ?
Thank you for this video. The metal parts on my chairs look like they could last 100 years, and I have gotten my webbing, but the plastic arms on the chairs are brittle and have broken-is there anything I can do to repair those parts? Thank you.

I work like to tighten up the webbing. How can I remove it and then replace without cutting?
Sweet .now off to buy my chair webbing.
Thanks 4 the info. U were a big help. My chair looks nice
Awesome. I'm glad the video helped.

What I don't like about it is that the new webbing is narrower. I wouldn't replace webbing because it was faded
Great instructions, No stone left unturned. GCF
Yes the first clip was backwards. It is suppose to grip against the metal as to not fall out with pressure. It does make it more difficult.
Question..how would I web a lawn rocker, that didn't have webbing on it, but rather had nylon cloth type material on it. But I would like to put webbing on it.
7891234able I could drill holes in the frame and use screws to secure the webbing.
I have a question how much webbing should you use to make sure it's long enough say I need 15 in.should I add 1 more in to insure long enough
I'd add and extra 6 inches, 3 inches on each side due to overlapping and folding under.
Hi I just watch this video how do you call that kind of webbing. English is not my first lenguaje I am in Canada I want to fix my lawn chairs and I can't find the material.
Look for "Lawn Chair Webbing" on Amazon or elsewhere.
Thanks, great video, now off to do mine!
Where can you buy the webbing online? What length do you need per chair?
A variety of colors can be found on Amazon. Not sure about second question. Measure all of the straps your chair currently has, then add 6 inches onto each to be safe.
Good video, thanks.
NICE JOB
and a frame without clips and screws the old seat is stitched and too nice to scrap
Nicely Done! Thank you!!
Great info - thanks!
Good job
Thank you, very helpful!
Nice one! Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for the instructions but you forgot to mention that when you close the chair up they straps loosen up!!
Great vid, I think I can do it!!
You can!
Thanks!
Perfect Thankyou
it works for me, thanks.
I agree; screws are much easier.
What kind of screws???
@@coreybennewies1866 , SS that fits the hole.
Thanks!
Good one...
Omg! I bought all new clips, I didn't think you could reuse them! What a waste of money!
I will try, but it doesn't look like my Lawn chair
Ty..

@@francinecorry633 , it was incorrect! Otherwise the clip just comes out. The 30* should be against the metal to grip against it.
Nylon webbing lasts far longer than polypropylene.
There are no good videos on this. Dealing with the clips is glossed over in this video. Not very helpful.
Not very helpful at all thumbs down
Where it came to the measuring of where, where to put the clips not very helpful thumbs down
So, to use screws you just fold it over? Ummm...maybe mention you need something sharp to poke a hole through the material because most screws are flat tipped. I found this video useless.
