Hi - Just want to thank you for this video. I knew nothing about how to make a macrame chair and your video gave me the skills & info I needed to successfully complete my own! Thank you!!
I am so glad I came across this video. I had been wanting to learn how to do this. I made up my own patterns which was a trial and error process but I had no clue how to start and end until I watched this video. Thank you!
This is far and away the best tutorial for macrame of lawn chairs. Clear instructions, great close up pictures, organized, understandable voice, great tips.... just overall excellent. Thank you so much for this video.
I used to use these exact instructions and found that the back support bar bent when someone sat in it. The cord manufacturer gave me slightly different instructions. Instead of going under the support bar, try going over, around and up between the strands. This changes the tension on the bar and it gives it a nice finished look.
Hello Claire ! I saw this comment somewhere else too ! But can you still fold the chair after that ? Do you have somehow a picture of how it looks (to make sure that I understand well how to proceed as my english skills may not be perfect hahah) Thanks a lot !
i never seen a beautiful chair weave just like this & so much detailed explanation, thank you so much for your patient explaining, i keep on watching repeating it over & over until i can remember all the steps you just had made,.. thanks for sharing,..
I have looked for directions for this weaving technique for years. Thank you so much for sharing. Your demonstration and directions are clear and easy to understand.
I have used your video to do 4 chairs. I have been given 2 more frames so have 2 waiting in the wings. I always watch your video before beginning just to make sure I am still doing it right. Your video is very informative and to the point, thank you.
Great tutorial on the macrame chair!! I've been wanting to do this for so long now but didn't want to tackle it without closely seeing how it's done. Finally can't wait to get started THANKS!!
I just finished the base and am now starting the bottom weave. Thanks for your tutorial. Best around. Excited to finish first chair. I have 3 more to do after this one. I am a Seattle Seahawks fan. The first one I'm doing is in colors I have, the rest will be in my Seahawk colors, blue and green. Can't wait to see finished product. Thanks again. Keep recording. Hard work!! But FUN!!
I used this technique for the back and seat of an old rocker. I had to use the original holes for caning in the areas where the arm rests attached, because I couldn't get around the frame in those spots. That was a bit tricky and required pulling a lot of cord through the holes, but it turned out beautifully.
I love your video and following your instructions, I have finished 6 chairs so far. Only difference, besides the pattern, is that I used 2 kinds of rope that were designed to be outside. I got 100' clothesline rope from Wal-Mart (Polyester and Polypropylene blend) and boating rope from Menards (these come in a bunch of pretty colors). I watched a lot of videos but kept coming back to yours, Thank You
Great tutorial video! I have a 70's era book on doing this and it has a much more complicated approach than this one. Liked this as it is easier, but did my seat back from the top down to put the final knot at the bottom of the back in a less noticeable position. Didn't have any problem with the hooks, you should be able to point them in either direction. Thanks!
Adorei, Vou reformar as ninhas pode me dizer qual a espessura da corda e essa cadeira é De fechar...pois as ninjas são. Fiquei com essa duvida. Boa noite
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! I used part of this idea, the first colour, and part of my own idea, weaving in webbing in rainbow colours to fix a garden swing! The results are phenomenal! Took about 6 hours and sore fingers but well worth it..
Pepperell Braiding Company sells a lot of really nice patterns for these chairs. I made a KoKopelli chair about 22 years ago. It finally broke last month. I bought a new frame on Amazon (cheaper than a vintage frame) and bought the Bonnie Craft Cord and pattern from Pepperell.
This is really awesome thank you for posting.. I was wondering if this is macrame or crochet and weaving? I thought macrame was more of a knotting technique where usually each cord needs to be cut to size.. this seems to be crochet, one long cord looped again and again, & then weaved to make a pattern
Love it thanks for sharing. How do you weave it. It didn't show the weaving part. That's the part that looks hard. Do you cut the cord? or just weave the whole thing...
Hi! Great video.... One thing I found was that I was doing my stringing too tight. On the bottom of the top part of your chair it droops a bit which is nice. My girlfriend back home said that it would be more comfortable if there was some play. So I took out about 6 inches of weaving and I redid it. Much better! I can get the horizontal rows closer together now that it's a bit looser. Thanks for sharing this!!!
Im really wanting to do this (sorta) to make a hammock. I was thinking I could mount spreader bars for the hammock on the wall and chain the two long sides, giving me all 4 sides needed to weave. Of course would just weave in and out to a super sturdy one rather than a pattern like shown here... wondering if it would work. Haven't had any luck finding instructions on something similar to what Im thinking that would make a solid hammock out of rope, just standard hammock instructions, and ones made from fabric which I don't like at all.
I have a question. I am new to this and have finished the first color of cord. I'm having a terrible time with the cord getting very twisted and tangled. I pulled the cord from the center of the skein. What am I doing wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong. It will do that from being twisted into the skein. You can either pull extra cord out of the skein and push the twists away from the cord you are working with or you can completely undo the whole skein (not recommended as that leads to further entanglement). It's annoying to have to push the twists away from the work area, but it is nothing that you are doing wrong. You can even see it happening in the video.
Hi loved the video, covered my old chairs with strong fabric but starting to rip again, would love to try what you did, what was the size of the macrame code ?Jo
Great video! I can't wait to try it to repair my deck chairs that had a wicker type seat and back. What size cord do you recommend? I see it comes in 2mm, 4mm and 6mm but haven't checked it out at the store yet.

@claireballargeon3679 can you fold the chair and can you please post a picture?
The best video I've found on this so far! Thank you for not assuming that I know how to make that first loop....
Theresa Desaulniers thanks for the love. keep watching.

Thank you so much for your video. I watched this to help me upcycle an old wooden chair and this was so helpful.
Love the video. This might have been asked before but how much cord will I need to make a chair and what size (mm) is the cord?
I have a chaise lounge chair I got about 20 years ago that is in desperate need of upcycling. Your technique looks like it could work.
Best tutor since she gave every details on the items we need and the size. The best so far. Thank you 🙏😊😊
Very helpful instructions. Thank you

Very nice!
Thanks for all the tips!
That should get me started! 🙏
Excellent!!! THANK-YOU !!
I had come across a chair a few months ago and was wanting to redo it, I found this helpful in my decision of how to finish it.
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! I used part of this idea, the first colour, and part of my own idea, weaving in webbing in rainbow colours to fix a garden swing! The results are phenomenal! Took about 6 hours and sore fingers but well worth it..
So, I did this and it was great, but what should I do with all the leftover cordage?
This is amazing 😍Thanks a lot for making this video

Is there a kind of macrame cord that is stronger for making the chair pattern? Thanks
Quedo muy bonito! Me encanto la idea. Lo pondre en practica con mis sillas. Gracias.

What is the material and where would I find it?
Que hermosa silla
Do I need 200 yards of each color? Wanna fix my broken chair like this. Great video btw!! :)
Really good tutorial, will give it a try
How do I see your patterns?
Nice
thank for this tutorial . awesome job.
thank you. let us know when you have photos!
Is macrame cord softer than paracord?
Bravo!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Are they 100 yards each?
Very pretty crochet/woven design. . No macrame, but pretty.
It's Macramé any time you work with knots
Exelente seu trabalho, lindas cores e boa didática. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I was able to make an awesome chair for my friend! Thank you for teaching me! I’d post pics, but idk where.
Very cool
Great tutorial !!! Thank you for posting it!
You see I like the idea and think that it's brilliant. The only question I'm asking is, Is the chair sturdy?
Donde venden esa soga de tejer
You can find all different patterns in macramé books. I found mine at the used book store.
May I ask what is the thickness of the cord?
Just a term thing, crochet hook. Needles are for knitting.
I need something more heavy duty on how much weight does this material hold
Por favor, qual corda vc usou??
I love it
Good visual instructions. I could not figure my written one's out.

Roll the skein as you pull - that helps reduce the twist of you roll with the twist.
The crochet hook just falls off on the top loop.....any hints to prevent this from happening?
Once the macrame is done will one be able to completely fold the chair or will the tension be too tight?
Hi loved the video, covered my old chairs with strong fabric but starting to rip again, would love to try what you did, what was the size of the macrame code ?Jo
my goodness so beautiful, both the chair and the girl
Supply list?
Great
Where does one get such chairs on a regular basis?
HOLA ,DESEO APRENDER ,COMO SE LLAMA EL HILO? PUEDE SER CON HILO PLASTICO'

You know, that make really nice macrame hammocks. But they don’t make hanging macrame recliners.
This is very simple my brother can do it very easily
Me gustaría que tuviera opción para subtitulos
