I paid a significant amount of money originally to purchase the then available bundles of the individual photo products a couple of years ago - Sharpen AI, DeNoise AI, Gigapixel, Mask AI, Studio AI, etc and the Video Enhance AI. Soon after, they came up with the revamped Video AI and Photo AI claiming them to be superior products and required me to pay upgrade prices. Video AI fell short of the original by not having side by side comparisons functionality of multiple models for me to see which was a better version. I suspected the same when their upgrades stopped for Gigapixel. I kept getting promo emails to upgrade at discount prices during Black Friday and Boxing Day sales. Although the products are revamped, I expect that software will many bug fix upgrades to bring it back to stable levels. As per several similar comments below, so, unless someone can firmly attest to this version being superior in its first release compared to the Photo AI I had to repurchase, I will not upgrade due to an impulsive regretful decision
Before I thought that Gigapixel version 6 worked better than Photo AI and that's why I preferred to use GP6. Now that I got used to Photo AI and all its functions such as mask, etc. it seems to me that Gigapixel 7 is no longer necessary and they would have to work a lot to add more functions.
I shouldn't have been surprised but even though I have Photo AI, to update Gigapixel I need to spend $79 to update so I won't update. As others have mentioned I wonder how it compares to the up-scaling module on Photo AI.
Like many as indicated in the comments here, I was somewhat puzzled by Topaz's release (after nearly a year) of a new version of Gigapixel AI when Photo AI is meant to do the same thing and, of course, much more besides. And so I emailed Topaz to ask and this was their response: "Allowing users to purchase Gigapixel is to give them the option to solely use Gigapixel or Topaz Photo AI. It depends on one's long-term needs when it comes to both. Topaz Photo AI is more robust and aimed at professional photographers or "pro-sumers" (consumers that buy pro stuff). It combines the functionality of DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. It also allows greater support for RAW files and features an autopilot mode, allowing you to adjust the images easily. Gigapixel is an upscaling and enhancement app that is more general consumer-focused rather than a photographer. Overall, Topaz Photo AI has the same functions as Gigapixel, but it is up to the person whether they will own both or one or the other."
It's interesting, because I've read a lot of comments from users of Photo AI that it's upscaling isn't as good as Gigapixel. I can't say it's true, as I don''t own Photo AI, but it's a comment I've seen several times by different people.
@@brianwarnerarts And I'm the other way around, Brian, as I have Photo AI and only a much older version of Gigapixel. Initially I wasn't too impressed with Photo AI's upscaling (amongst other things!), but over the last few days I have used it on several old family photos and it produced very good upscaling results in all cases. I wonder if there might be some relationship to the longer processing time of B & W as opposed to color based on the fact that just as it took more talent as a cinematographer to shoot movies in B & W because it required so much more awareness of shadows, shadings and how the different colors would impact a scene and the mood of the shot - if perhaps processing the shades of gray - so to speak - is harder for the AI to figure out?
Agree with many comments below re any advantage of Gigapixel 7 vs Photo AI. Do you anticipate that Topaz will incorporate the new technology into Photo AI? Seems to me there's no sense to having both programs. Thank you.

In other words, which one do you start with and what is second and last app to use on a specific photo? (assuming that I don't have or use PhotoAI).
I always like your demos, Anthony. I've gotten used to Photo AI, and I wonder if there is any new tweaks here that are not in Photo AI. I've been using the Topaz plugins with great results for quit a while now.
If I am sending the photos to someone that might want to print and enlarge them, how do I know what size to change them to in Gigapixel? (2x, 4x or 6x)
Great review, thank you! What are these widgets in the upper left corner? Are these included in macOS? I like the fact that these widgets are only displayed in white and are not as distracting as if they were in colour.
Just asked Topaz Support as to why 7.7.0 is not available for download and why - despite having the Update package - my version remains at 7.0.1 having being advised in the app that there is an update available.
I owned the older version, and used it every day, so I paid the $79. Then found our it was only until Jan next year. I feel a little ripped off. I do not want to pay $80 a year for this.
Topaz doesn't end your license to use one of their apps after one year. They end your right to new upgrades to the app unless you pay more. You can instead keep using an older version of any Topaz app you bought as long as you want without paying more money to do it. What you paid is not an annual or subscription price.
Anyone find a way how to save the file without prefix in the beginning of the file ?If i delete the prefix field theres always an space in the beginning of all files when exported what annoying they dont give option to delete that shit !

Of course there's an update, my subscription for the regular one ran out. I can't see paying that much money for an update even though it does look nice.
I have been invited by Topaz to upgrade my Gigapixel, which seems redundant given the attributes of Photo AI. While it looks impressive, if not fantastic, I'll probably adopt a wait and see as being a retiree on limited funds,USD $79 is my food bill for about a week. Thanks, Anthony, for another great demo and something to evaluate whether I need this or do I want it?
Leave the update a year and try and make you pay for upgrade license. Think I will stick as I am not buying a license for one upgrade. This is getting the same for sharpen and denoise.
Can you please, ZOOM IN like 400% so we can see the REAL difference? I'm tired of watching videos of people still zooming at 120% or 150% only. Do you think that all people have a 37" monitor? Or we can see this on our cellphones or on tablets? Recording this video in 4K in 2160p doesn't mean that we can see the difference or the improvement on a standard monitor and certainly not on a cellphone or on a tablet. This is not how things and video technology work. This piece of software is really expensive, so we need to see the real improvement and "the real deal for $100" as Topaz always claims between this new version and the previous one, but also to really see the quality of their algorithm and AI. So, please, don't be afraid to ZOOM IN, it's not gonna bite you. _(Also, this is version 7.0.0, not 7.7.0 as your video title says.)_
I don't really see any improvements to Gigapixel 7 from the results you've show here..I can get just as good results with GP6, I'll stick with Gigapixel 6 and save $99. Photo AI never worked well for me, crashed all the time unlike Gigapixel 6 which has been solid.
I just bought this and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I have a bunch of old phone photos I was hoping to upscale and sharpen. Faces come out weird and smooth looking. Not sharp. Sharpen AI is weird too no matter what model I use.
They just released 7.1.1 and it fixes all the issues I was having with the previous version. Like image size results showing Width: 1 px, Height: 1 px., Resolution: 1 px.

Presumably these are the same V2 models introduced this week into Photo AI? Any reason to use Gigapixel 7.7.0 over Photo if you have both?

Great video, I never know which one to use: Topaz Photo AI or Topaz Gigapixel
The disadvantage is that when you want to install version 7, version 6 is uninstalled. I would like to keep both versions
