We're on a journey to fundraise a movie inspired by our friend Jay and along the way we've met some amazing people. This video series, Stories Made With Love, is an attempt to share some of their stories as we work to raise the money to tell our story... Made With Love the movie.
Support Jay's movie: madewithloveth...
He is beautiful. Yes, he's perfect. He won't be judgmental. He will love freely. He will bring out the best in you, and sometime, along the way, you will realize you are a better person because of him. The job for now? Simply love him. So easy! My son with Down's is now 37 yrs old! He opens people's hearts. He has a part time job, friends, his own apartment (though he stays with me most of the week). Welcome to this special "club"! It's a challenging, heart opening, and life changing journey! You've been blessed!
Sending big, and little, hugs!
@@ssmith3513 Beautifully said 🫶😌 Sending hugs to you and your son!
That’s it! I hope your son is being paid a competitive salary and not sub minimum wage. We have a real problem in this country with people with cognitive disabilities though some others as well being exploited by places like Goodwill and others who pay them below minimum wage simply because they’re disabled.

I’ve never heard a story like this and a mom being so transparent about her and her family’s journey!!
@@omaristorres-frey3214 Yes, we really admire their transparency and honesty. It’s going to help a lot of people
I grew up with a sibling born severely disabled. This baby would've been a cakewalk compared to her. She was the number 3 of 4 children, and growing up with her brought shame and sadness; as kids, we didn't know how to deal with the questions, stress of constant care, and stares. Growing up, she taught me to respect differences and love God's children regardless of the package.
@@carolyn4realife Thank you for sharing ❤️ Everyone needs to know that kind of love that you share with your sister.
I was thinking the children are lucky that the mother doesn't freak out with everything he does. The sister doesn't feel like she has to keep him from getting into "trouble".
He is adorable. I am a teacher, and I taught a Down syndrome student in middle school. He was wonderful, and all the kids loved him. He has graduated and went to Prom. He did everything all the other kids did. His mom wanted him to be held to high expectations just like everyone else. You got this girl. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Your little man is very beautiful!!❤❤❤

Your son is truly handsome. My story: My son was born with cataract behind is left eye. Consequently he is unable to see from it. I was sad for him and myself when I found out few weeks after birth that something was wrong. I found out before the doctor. Test revealed that he wasn’t seeing from that eye. He was not treated differently from my other children. As time goes by we promoted him to have confidence in himself. I told him there are no limitations unless he limits himself. In his teenage years he asked me who is going to love him? I told him love is from within. That he first has to love himself. My son finished college he is working as a social worker. He is married to his wonderful wife. He is the father of three girls and two boys. Mom and Dad may God see you through your journey. Keep loving on your son. Self confidence starts in the home.

Society tells everyone to abort babies with down syndrome, but I've found that whenever I'm around somebody with this condition, I can't stop smiling, my day is brightened, and they give me a different perspective on life...they are truly a gift from God!!!
Thank you for sharing Cole! We completely agree and relate!
I've never known 'society' to tell anyone to abort a baby with down syndrome. Maybe back in the day but back in the day any child not 'normal' was discouraged partly based on not knowing how to deal with the complications and partly because the financial burden could devastate a family. We know much more about the condition now and society is adjusting to those who do not fit their view of 'normal'. Humans are still evolving.
Absolutely!
@@TH-eb5romy boss was offered that option 15 years ago. She was not interested in abortion.

That beautiful smile that he has, just warms your heart; I couldn’t describe which one of his pictures I like best; first I chose the one in the maroon shirt, then when I saw the rest of the pictures I love them all. I looked at his pictures and it brings a smile to my face. Thank you mom and dad for letting me get to know your little baby boy. Greetings from USA
What a beautiful family. Mom so reminds me of my daughter and son-in-law who also went through all the emotions, fears, and uncertainty of having a baby with DS; their only daughter. Like this Mom, she researched all the services, doctors, schools, etc. available to our princess to make her life and the family's life as normal as any other birth. Sadly, our baby girl passed away suddenly, just shy of 6 months after contracting the RSV virus while still in the hospital from her pre-term birth. I pray this family love on their journey with all the normalcy and joy this perfect little one brings to the family. Congratulations!!
I’m sorry for your loss. Sending our love to you and your family ❤️ Thank you for sharing about your sweet princess 👼❤️

I am 52 now and I have a brother who is 58 and has autism. My mother was my first example of how to treat someone who is supposed to be different so I was floored when I experienced people being ignorant and negative towards people who have an exceptionality. My mom and my brother were my influence to become a special educator. I had the pleasure of being over a special education department in which there was a student who had DS. When I tell you he gave me joy everyday when he greeted me… his joy at seeing me like he had been waiting all morning to just greet me was indeed priceless and helped me to get through many a bad day.

On the one hand I’ve always felt that Downes people have some sort of special sense that allows them to see what we “mortals” cannot. It’s almost as if they see beyond the veil. That they understand what’s important on a higher level than we ever could. On the other hand, every one of us in this entire universe is different. Even identical twins aren’t head to toe, inside and out, mirror images. He is himself; he is your son; he is beautiful.
