What are you powering with? Have subs with your system? I just picked up a pair for $400, so far they sound pretty good just on my 100w yamaha av reciever, but i have 2 rythmik L12's on the way and trying to find a good150-200w amp
Love these. I got the full home theater setup with the Heco Aurora 1000 as L/R, Heco Aurora Center, and the 300's as surrounds. They sound great. You should be able to get them on sale. Got the matching sub for free too...
could you tell me how the heco aurora 1000 compare to other floorstanders and do they sound similar to the 300? Thought about getting them for my home theater setup
Man, I miss my component system. A full Phase Linear rack with Pioneer HPM 100s and HPM 60s. I lost a significant amount of my hearing due to chemo therapy, so when one of my clients offered me an obscene amount of money for it, I sold it. I'm headphones only now and a lot of the highs I missed on speakers returned under headphones, but I sure miss my speaker system.
@@FlyOnAlbatross I did man, but only after submitting to a brutal regimen of treatments. Just fyi. In chemotherapy, they use a platinum-based chemical to kill the cancer and unfortunately, that particular treatment destroys the tiny hairs within the eardrum so you lose a lot of high sounds. With headphones I get a lot of that back. Wel. because cymbals ;-) Thank you for your kindness.
I have the Heco Aurora 1000s for my 2-channel music system. Awesome, highly praised in limited reviews online, and a tremendous value for their specs compared to other large floorstanders. They’re also not as deep as some so easier to implement in some setups. I’d buy Heco any any any day. 🎉
I have those for almost a year now, serving as my computer / desk speakers. Paired with Aiyma D03 and WiiM Pro (followed by your recomendation), backed up by Presonus T8 sub . I couldn't be more happy with this setup. I was considering Elac Debut Reference B6 (also due too your recomandation of Elacs in general) but Elacs come with a higher price tag here in Europe compared to US market. With Heco is exactly the opposite. I paid $300 for the pair year ago in Poland. Now they go for $320, which is still a bargain.
I tend to like soft dome tweeters that have a large surround, like these. They are similar to the Elac tweeter in the BS41 and DB5.2 - and on my MLTL-6 speakers. This tends to give them a lower Fs; which often means a clean and smooth response. Edit: in another part of the web page, they say the tweeter is 28mm, which is about 1 1/8". They quote the crossover as being 3.3kHz which is fairly high.
Great review and these look fantastic! Randy, I think it's time for another speaker shootout. We need a sub $300, sub $500, and sub $1000. I would LOVE to see these videos individually and THEN, another video doing a Randy's tier list as an overview of many of the speakers you've already reviewed where you rank the speakers in their respective price categories. THIS WOULD BE FANTASTIC and would bring so much needed perspective to your body of work as a whole. Also, recently, I've been accompanying a buddy of mine, trying to help him find an amazing set of bookshelf speakers to go with his Emotiva PT-1 and A2. We've listened to B & W 6 series, Klipsch RP series, Focal, Polk Reserve, Martin Logan, Revel, Wharfedale and KEF. So far his favorites are the R200 from Polk and and the Wharfedale Evo 4.1. But not enough to pull the trigger yet. And I gotta tell you, when I come home, fresh off of auditioning, and listen to my set up (Emotiva TA-100, WiiM Pro, Schiit Modi 3e DAC) with my Sony SSCS5's and Wharfedale D320, I personally am really happy with what I have. I also have a PT-1 and A2 waiting to be used, but the TA-100 is handling business well!. My buddy also has a set of the SSCS5's and loves them, frustrated that he hasn't found anything that to him is worth upgrading to. Are we crazy?
bought them at a sale in switzerland for 299 bucks. they sound fantastic, a little sharp in high range. great build quality and quite heavy. connected to fosi bt20 pro
i think they need some time to play in. they sounding better and better every time listen to it. also the imaging is fantastic, i was very impressed. metal sounds very good on it but some of the older stuff even better like peter green, eagles, gustav holst and so on. highly recommended speaker
Thanks Randy! You nailed it. I agree 100% with your review. I love the Heco’s . I run those on my bedroom system and all I can say is awesome for the money. I have the heco la diva in my main system, which are way more detailed and more straight forward. But there’s a difference of 9000,- bucks. Those Auroras are gorgeous speakers that kick as... It’s a speaker you can listen to for long time without your ears starting to bleed… a real bang for the buck!
I’ve owned the tower version ( Aurora 1000) of these stand mounts for nearly a year and I can say Randy that you’re description is accurate to what I hear. These are speakers you can listen to all day without fatigue and with the towers I can actually run them without my subwoofer and be completely satisfied at one point I got up and had to check whether my sub was unplugged.
Randy! Does the 90 dB sensitivity make these good for low volume listening? And how much distance from the wall can we get away with? Thinking of the Dayton HTA200 to go with it.
Haven't heard them, but love what I've seen so far! Even the name is cool... Aurora! Nice that they're 90db speakers, as a lot of people (including me) don't have a lot of power on hand. Can't wait to hear them.
I watch your videos & have a cup of coffee with you often...Your vids are always so enjoyable to watch & you make me laugh..... I have never had a good system, other than having a set of Axiom AX 1.5 speakers, the taller ones. They sounded pretty good, but they werent at bright as i would like them. That was 20 years ago... since then ive just had some crappy Logitech speakers, & now i have been living with some crappy Paradigm surround speakers for the past 10 years...been hard to afford anything as i am on disability after surviving stage 4 cancer, with a stem cell transplant finally saving my life... happy to be alive, so i cant complain much really... but i do miss proper sound.
This was a blast from the past. My very first proper hifi speakers, bought from a hifi shop with a little Denon amp, were Heco Interior Reflex standmounts. That was maybe 30 years ago. Good to know they are still making quality speakers now. Are they a German brand ? Thats what my memory tells me, anyway.
Yes, they’re a German brand, available in the US through Audio Advice. And…you wouldn’t know these are paper cones…the composite material feels more like poly than paper. Excellent craftsmanship and IMO the Aurora 1000s I have sound incredible.
My two cents for everyone reading these reviews trying to decide on purchases....I auditioned the Aurora 200 back to back against Monitor Audio bronze 50's and Wharfedale Diamond 225's, and the Heco were very, very, laid back, very prominent bass (overly done), they lacked so much detail in the mid range that the vocals and instruments like saxophone sounded dark and almost muffled. I wanted to like them and maybe the bigger cabinets are a different story, but the 200's weren't even close to the Monitor Audios or Wharfedales. (and in case you're curious, the Monitor Audio were the most detailed and forward of the three, but it wasn't overdone or harsh, I think they were as close to neutral as you can get given the size of the cabinet, they were my top pick, the Wharefdale sounded very balanced as well, but were voiced a little bit laid back, not anything huge like the Heco, but definitely not as detailed or neutral as the Monitor Audio. YMMV.
I have the Heco Aurora 200 model. I used at my desktop for a 2.1 system with a RSL Speedwoofer MKII, what a fun and amazing system. With some better room treatment I’m sure they would sound even better.
Hey Randy, i'm planning to put together my first audio system and was thinking of using the ELAC Debut Reference with an SMSL A300 and an SMSL SU1, maybe add a WIIM Mini. What do you think? Have a nice Day and greetings from Germany!
I believe you that they sound great, but color me EXTREMELY skeptical about the 32Hz rating. The official info page doesn't list a +/- dB on that 32Hz number which is usually a red flag (Definitive Technology was notorious for this...). I'd love to see them actually measured!
Believe me.....German manufacturers have been doing this for decades...Canton, Heck, ELAC and more stating very unrealistic lower freq. end without founded measurements or ref. Maybe near wall response with the rear port...Bye,bye definition...Your perception is spot on....Maybe 32Hz with your ear next to the woofer unit.
Joe'n Tell reviewed the Heco line (and 300s) about a year ago and did some rough measurements. To sum it up, no, they don't hit 32hz (roll off around 60Hz if I remember correct). They are kind of V-shaped sounding. Sensitivity is also debatable. I think we can safely assume Heco is rather 'optimistic' about their specs...
@@34332 so, you did all your statements because of some rough measurements? :) It's funny. I have heco 300 for 2 years already and they're flat like Earth for flat earthers. I don't know where you got the info about V-shape from, but that's not true. Polks are V-shaped, but these? nah.
I think that’s a good question, I have a friend who bought the original klipsch rp600m and he swapped out the chunks of metal for speaker cable and says it was a significant improvement
i did use goldkabel jumpers and it improved a significant. even with a cheap amp but they scale great. My opinion is that the hecos are better, i had the 12.2 in my second listening room A/B them to them and they got beaten in several aspects
I test them as they arrive. It's cool to get some more performance with them by adding a few things here and there. Would be fun to do that but I've got to review them as they are.
Just snagged one of the last pair of Aurora 300's... in Black. I was searching for the white (less friction from the wife) however they are nowhere to be found. Key rep at Audio Advice shared that they are in negotiations with Heco and may not carry the line anyone. Not due to quality, but apparently due to the excessive inventory they'd be required to carry as an exclusive dealer.
Hey Randy :) Congrats on getting over the 200k hump! Been watching for a while now looking to make my next speaker purchase. I'm looking at these Heco Aurora 300's and the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 that I see you have reviewed a few times here. At this time they are similarly priced and have both received pretty good reviews. Was curious to hear your thoughts comparing the two otherwise I'll just need to bring them in and try them out. I know that it mostly will depend on my space which is a 16' x 11' bedroom I converted into an office/listening room when the pandemic hit. These are strictly for 2 channel listening (mostly vintage vinyl with a vintage table and either the Fosi Phono Box X2 or the iFi Zen). Since you don't know me, the short of it is that I am a music producer among other things and my ears still work :)~ What I'm really trying to do my best is to avoid a return if I can by gaining an edge between the two. Worst case I return one and pick up the other but I'm most certainly keeping my eyes peeled for deals with Black Friday and Cyber Monday on approach as well. Can't say enough thanks to you for being here! THANK YOU!!!
Hey so I was looking around at the ELAC's just now and noticed that the ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 is the same price as these HECO's at $419. Not sure if that makes this an easier decision or more complicated :D
Randy, did you sit these on stands out into your listening room or have them sitting on something close up to the rear wall of the room (on a cabinet or bookshelf) Thanks!
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 lol. exactly. I had them on stands about 2 feet from the back wall slightly toed in. And you're right. A good reviewer would have. I'm quite content being a mediocre reviewer.
@KillianMcBride it's amazon affiliate. Make sure to get that right. They're running a free trial on Audible. You should really check it out. (I get a kickback for everyone that signs up for a trial.).
Thank you CAM for giving the positioning setup for the speakers. Due to our house floorplan constraints, I've got some stand mount speakers setup on bookshelves right now. It may take moving into another home to be able to have them set up so they can really shine lol. With the hundreds of comments posted, it would be nearly impossible for any RUclips maker to respond to all commenting questions, even the "good" makers 😎. (Normally I try to have my comments with questions to be aimed and answered from the other viewers commenting.) Thanks for all of your videos and for taking the time in answering my question . YAMOA!
Sounds like the new popular kid on the block. Thanks for this informative review and introduction to this speaker. Much appreciated, brother . Have a great week ahead,Sir.
90dB sensitivity anechoic or in-room. Seems everyone rounds up to seal the deal. Marketing strategy so I feel manufacturers and reviews really need to specify this.
i know Heco from the past; had always good bass(like Magnat, and Canton ;but not all of them),old German brand. But now i use Triangle Borea 3 on Aiyima D03(before that a restored Sansui AU-317;1978). I like this speakers a lot. Enough bass, but not to much. Before these speakers i used Dali Oberon 5, very very nice, but a little to much bass with a lot of tracks(Tidal & Spotify). But..i will keep the Dali's. I live in a small apartment(3x4 meters, but high ceiling) in the centre of Amsterdam, that's why.
Randy, when are you going to review the Emotiva DAC preamp? I have a Denefrips Ares12 that’s better than the DAC in my McIntosh c50 preamp. But I hate not having a remote for the DAC. I also think the Emotiva would look great with my McIntosh gear! Thanks!
Hallo I want to buy the Heco Aurora 300, but I can't find a dealer in the UK and get no answer from Heco via email and their FB Messenger. How can I purchase this speaker does anyone know? Also would it be a better then the JBL STAGE A130? It seems so, but it be nice to hear it from someone who knows.
My issue with rear ported 'bookshelf' speakers is that if you put them in a bookshelf (like the description implies) the acoustics get all messed up because of how close they are from a surface on the back.
Have you listened to the Mission LX-3 MK II. I have had mine for a month and I just can’t get over how good they sound. I live in Canada and they only cost $400.00 there like a grey black finish with a magnetite grill. I find you get more bang for your buck with bookshelf speakers.
Hecos are better sound and less expensive, but may not be the better choice for your listening environment. All speakers are dependent on components and your listening room.
It must be the same company that used to make very large woofers. We had sound reinforcement cabinets with a 24 and 30 drivers. Weren't totally effective in a stadium, but did make the floor rumble
i have kind of a love hate relationship with speakers in this pricerange nowadays. i rather just buy some old used speakers instead. I used the elac debuts aswell but then on one day i was extremly lucky and found a brand new looking pair of elax elx 8080 at the side of the road... and i kept them and sold the debuts because they just sound better to me. never heard of them before
Can someone help ....so i got the heco 700 because i dont think the centre it comes with (the i have ) can keep up with the 1000 ,anyways i want back surrounds LR but cant find the 300 anywhere 😢...can anyone suggest bookshelves to match the front stage as close to sound quality...really wana complete a 5.1.2 system ...help!
I'm glad I followed your recommendation here (and elsewhere). The Heco Aurora's are truly ouststanding bookshelf speakers. Better than the Q Acoustics 3030i I picked previously and used for a year. Why? Because, while both models are tuned towards a warmer profile, the Hecos's feel much more dynamic and "alive", for lack of a better word. I tried the Elac Debut 6.2's, which I know you like, before, but those, while superbly spacious in sound, felt lightweight and overly bright in comparison.
@@cheapaudioman Good to see you're in good spirits Randy! It's gotta be a grind creating content daily, just thought I'd do my part and pay attention ! I enjoy watching your stuff mainly because it's humorous, but if I'm looking for something in particular, I trust your insight. Be good Randy!
They are owned by the same company as Klipsch and Magnat.. I ended up getting the Magnat 503 32hz-52khz 3 way setup and same price. My Klipsch RP600M actually have way more bass and kick. Slightly less DB efficient though.

I test them as they arrive. It's cool to get some more performance with them by adding a few things here and there. Would be fun to do that but I've got to review them as they are.
Hi i was wondering should i get those and center speaker or wait and save $ for svs ultra bookshelfs with center
Randy, what about the port? Great review and these seam like an interesting choice.
no port chuffing
it's a good looking Port, FOR
OK , I subscribed and have liked a ton of your past videos . Please advice -- these speakers with the Emotiva TA1 . Good match ? Thanks , Dreamer .
I don't need to enter this giveaway because I feel I win each time I watch one of Randy's videos. Thanks Randy!
Randy @cheapaudioman How do these compare to the svs ultra bookshelves for 80% movies, 20% music?
YAMOA!
Thanks Randy! They do seem like they’d fit well into a lot of systems. Great vid as always and your spec song and dance was just amazing! 😊
Are better this or Elac DBR 62? TY
I ❤ my Aurora 700s. Talk about bass!
How do these compare to the Klipsch RP-600m? Sound wise.
Is it better than Dunaudio emit 20?
Hey just curious if we are going to see more on the Emotiva XDA DAC? Gen 3. You had kinda promised a comparison video. Thanks!
Eventually
Better than klipsch rp600m?
i know Heco from the past; had always good bass(like Magnat, and Canton ;but not all of them),old German brand.
How do these compare to Elac DBR62? If same price?
Any Chance for a review of the Heco Celan?
Randy, when are you going to review the Emotiva DAC preamp? I have a Denefrips Ares12 that’s better than the DAC in my McIntosh c50 preamp. But I hate not having a remote for the DAC. I also think the Emotiva would look great with my McIntosh gear! Thanks!
GoCartopias product critiques are a must-read, whether or not its about Portronics, Mivi, Phillips, or Syska.
Any impression whether they will be stocking these again? I think they got hyped too much and sold out.
These are great speakers. Paper cone and soft dome tweeter. Very attractive speakers and sound wise they are way better than most sub $700 speakers!
Hallo I want to buy the Heco Aurora 300, but I can't find a dealer in the UK and get no answer from Heco via email and their
FB Messenger. How can I purchase this speaker does anyone know?
Also would it be a better then the JBL STAGE A130? It seems so, but it be nice to hear it from someone who knows.
Another classic review from Randy and Looks great! ✅🍿
Thank you Randy
I have been waiting for some German speakers reviews like Heco and Quadral
Comparable to any Klipsch bookshelf?
My issue with rear ported 'bookshelf' speakers is that if you put them in a bookshelf (like the description implies) the acoustics get all messed up because of how close they are from a surface on the back.
That is why they should not be called bookshelf speakers, but stand mount speakers
@D1N02 my point exactly. call them small footprint, stand mount, whatever, but not bookshelf.
that term was made when most if not all speakers were sealed and most likely consisted of one driver.
I hate the term bookshelf speaker, very few if any “bookshelf “ speakers sound good on a bookshelf. These are better labeled as stand mount speakers.
Heco are best speakers in the world. :) I run Superior 700 and they are amazing.
Yes, next to all other best speakers in the world ;)
Nice review. I’ve been wanting to get the Heco speakers for a 5.1 surround setup.
Que altavoz seria mejor para escuchar metal .El klipchs rp 500 m o el Heco aurora 300?
I wonder how these compare to a Canton ergo 22 DC?? Those speakers sound phenomenal, you can find them used for about $200
Great looking bookshelves
What happened to the separated sections of bass, mids, treble ? Not crazy having all three lumped into one section.
I know, seems rushed more videos = less quailty. I prefer the old Randy. No editing, one take ish.
Have you listened to the Mission LX-3 MK II. I have had mine for a month and I just can’t get over how good they sound. I live in Canada and they only cost $400.00 there like a grey black finish with a magnetite grill. I find you get more bang for your buck with bookshelf speakers.
Where can these be purchased?
I wish you would test the Heco 700s.
I knew you'd get around to these beauties eventually! 😁
I'm so tempted to buy these right now.
LOL.. "makes the mind explode" I love you man..lol
Whats the difference between 200 and 300 speaker? 300 is out of stock everywhere :(
How do you feel the Heco's compare to equivalent Wharfedale speakers, something like the diamond 12 series?
Hecos are better sound and less expensive, but may not be the better choice for your listening environment. All speakers are dependent on components and your listening room.
I would love to see you also review the Aurora’s big brother, the Celan Revolution 3
I have the Celan 3 in the wood finish. My all time favourite bookshelf
@@19sheriff72 , I want that wood finish! Unfortunately I have only found black ones available.
How do these compare to q acoustics 3030i
How are they compared to the old ELAC B6s? Seem very similar.
I just got an open box pair for $255.00 at Audio Advce. They sound great for the price and I like them more than the Elac Unifi Reference.
2:12 Did your iPhone/Siri just say "Huh?"? 😂
It will be interesting to see a review of HECO In Vita 3 and Celan Revolution 3!
HECO: One of the better German hifi manufacturers.
What up Cheap!
what up?
@@cheapaudioman Good to see you're in good spirits Randy! It's gotta be a grind creating content daily, just thought I'd do my part and pay attention ! I enjoy watching your stuff mainly because it's humorous, but if I'm looking for something in particular, I trust your insight. Be good Randy!
Do those actually go down to 32hz?!….
For a 6.5 bookshelf speaker that’s crazy!
Some budget subs don’t even go that low… wild!….
No.
These or the polk r200?
Can you review the bentley acoustics RF-3 line speakers, they claim to be in a class of its own.
Is caramelly like buttery?
The ivory black is great 👍🏻
Im running some xt 20's up front that I really like , but these interest me
On sale at Amazon for $319, just ordered them
I wonder how these sound compared to the new Bowers and Wilkins bookshelf speakers that are retailing for twice the price at 1000.00
Hier, if yo u really liked heco, you should try heco 1000 in white wood colour and then try tannoy Revolution x8tf....
Just bought a set of these.
aurora 1000 are 93db sensitivity. 1200 a pair floorstanders
They are owned by the same company as Klipsch and Magnat..
I ended up getting the Magnat 503
32hz-52khz
3 way setup and same price.
My Klipsch RP600M actually have way more bass and kick.
Slightly less DB efficient though.
I read a review on the link in your video, by a guy named Randy who uses the same buttery lingo. Must be your review!
