    Great assessment. I have had the HECO Aurora 1000 tower ($1,200) speakers for 8 months now and your review is very agreeable to what I’m hearing. Very listenable and “musical” speaker that plays any kind of music well. The towers I felt don’t need a sub and I like powerful bass, kind of shocked me because I feel most towers still need a sub.

Excellent bass extension and very forgiving. These Aurora's have a more modern look and aesthetic though. Solid alternative to the Wharfedale's retro look.

    Finally these manufacturers are injecting some MUSICALITY back into their loudspeakers, rather than making them ruler flat and lifeless as they've been making them for 10-12 years now. Our hearing and the music being played aren't ruler flat. We're not machines! Forgetting all about the equipment while listening to our music is the best compliment you can give any component. Any speaker that stirs up emotions and memories while playing is worth a good hard look, especially at this price. Thanks for the video Nemo.

  • @nc3419

    Heco Ceylon Revolution 3 was just reviewed and it was mentioned that with some tweaking to the cabinet its' SQ performance improves at louder levels. So the $$$ is in the drivers with the budgeting in the cabinets. At lower levels it performs well enough. Considered Heco, both Ceylon and Aurora but wanted a smaller speaker, my preference is smaller with good performance at low to moderate volumes and easily driven by smaller low powered but quality equipment. Have a small sub for fill in.
    Ended up with Dali Opticon 1 for desktop and Martin Logan 15i (now up to 40% off) as main drivers. Have others but may sell those. Happy but if I see a discounted speaker that fits my parameters I would consider buying it. Fun hobby, can be as expensive as golfing but safer than rock climbing.
    Nice perspective as always.

    Only thing I'm concerned about is the big bass port at the back. My listening room is pretty small so the speakers will be placed close to the front wall. I'm afraid these might get boomy.

    Whats up Nemo, another straight up no BS review. Good deal bro.
    I like that you break it down without overhyping the equipment your reviewing.
    I have a pairof Criton 1TDX, so 8 can see by your comments to Thomas that these would sound similar.
    I find the Criton to be smooth, no distortion, no matter what you throw at them. My only criticism is that they seem to lack some dynamics.
    Im not sure if its the speaker or my amplifier.
    Whats your take of the Criton for dynamics. I was looking at some arendal bookshelves, debating between that or changing my amplifier. I'm running a maraschino stm cherry amp( class D) and a bluesound node.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Год назад

      Just to be clear I only have the 1TD, not the X. It's a harder to drive speaker and generally what you're describing is true at lower volumes. Harder to drive speakers are not their happiest at lower volumes and can sound a little tight. Their sweet spot is higher up in the volume range where your amplifier can deliver the power they need to wake up :) Yeah the Heco is like a poor mans Criton 1TD, they sound very similar but of course the Criton 1TD does it all better.

    Thank you for your review! I'm currently considering different speakers at different price points: The Aurora 300, the Celan R3 and the Dynaudio Special 40. I like a laid-back sound, the last thing I want is something fatiguing (I had the B&W 606 and I would get a headache after 20 min of listening to them, and I also had the Polk R600 which as far as I could tell were on the opposite side of the scale, maybe even too soft - maybe it was also because of my mid-tier Pioneer AVR not driving them to their full potential). Do you think the Choco Emei amp that you also reviewed would drive all of the mentioned speakers well? Thank you for the kind words, I am a little biased to the S400 MK2 lol but yeah aside from that I'm not really a fanboy of any one thing. Sooo... if you're using an iPhone the Decibel X app is the most accurate one I've found, as long as you listen above say 75dB or right around there you should be fine. It's once people dip below that say around 70dB or less that you really want to make sure you have a low volume champion. If you listen mostly below 70dB you may want to get somthing brighter like a Triangle BR03.

    • @jari121
      @jari121 Год назад

      @@ronniehosein7384 It's hard to choose between them. It depends on the space the speakers are placed in. The DBR62 has more middle and upper bass, the R200 is more linear. The DBR62's sound is softer, the midrange is emphasized and the treble is a little muted. The R200's sound is drier and its treble is more emphasized. The size of the room, the acoustics and the position of the speakers affect the sound a lot. If you listen to a lot of dialogues or use speakers in a home theater, I would choose the R200 because the speech sounds clearer with it. For casual listening, the DBR62 could be better.

      @@NemoPropaganda Ok, thx for answering. :) One last question: What about the Aurora 300 vs the Sony SS-CS5? Is the Aurora worth it over the Sony or should I save 140€ by going with the Sony? @@dragonstone6594 Hi bro, SSCS5 is great, I love it, but it cannot play loud at all, it's a great speaker for low volume listening and would fall apart at anything close to theater volumes so I don't recommend that at all for you. The Aurora will be a much better option for your future plans, do note it leans warmer/darker so in a theater setting you may wish to bump up your treble region a bit for added clarity but that's easy to do with a theater setup so between the two Aurora 300 for sure.
