Hello, my name is Owen Smith, my degree is Engineering Physics from the University of BC. This is my introductory video and first video for Basic Cruising. My first series of videos are on the physics of sailing. This video introduces adding and subtracting arrows, or vectors, as a refresher topic for all those who may need a refresher. Then we'll apply this knowledge to understand how the wind drives a sailboat forward, and we'll discuss various other sailing physics topics before moving on to other Basic Cruising topics.
