    I actually had to watch this so I could play rhythm for Steve Lynch on New Years at our house party LOL. He's making me sing it, too (we're his marketing team). FYI Steve says it's A430 on the track. But get this, his new band tunes UP to A443. So now I have to actually warm up my voice, ha ha. For anybody wondering, Steve Lynch is still phenomenal, has a brand new act coming out in early 2020 called Project 2:22 and we are super stoked about creating their marketing outreach. Turn it up!

    • @BenEller
      @BenEller  4 года назад +7

      Eyemonster Studios wow! That’s awesome, thank you for commenting. What’s the logic with the 430 and 443 tunings? Any particular reason?

    • @eyemonsterstudios
      @eyemonsterstudios 4 года назад +12

      @@BenEller According to Steve, It's a psychological listener response thing. The new band has a female vocalist (indie Nashville singer/actor Alena Rae), so it may also be more comfortable for her. The new album, from which a pair if digital singles will be released first, is brighter and more mainstream pop, so upscale will also enhance that. But it's still quintessential Lynch- tons of speed licks, double tapping, all the stuff he's known for. I've listened to a couple of the raw tracks and it is mind blowing.

    Sounds great, could you do a video on some basic concepts for getting that 80s tone? Differences on the typical rhythm sound vs the lead. Delay timing, chorus, phaser, flanger, which to use and when. Stuff like that to help us get in the ballpark. Thks!

    Great Chops Dude! and Love that paint job on the axe!
    Back in the Golden age of hair Metal (1988) i had a 1981 gibson flying v painted like that..even on the back of the neck and headstock, fitted with a kahler whammy system and duncan distortion pups .. going into a jcm800 half stack ... cool times... Got to see Steve Lynch at a guitar clinic here in Australia around 1989 ... damn good times indeed .. (sold all my gear during the grunge era around '94) ... keep up the great vids.. rock on Brother!

  • @SDesWriter

    Got it in 45 minutes....new record! What a great breakdown. The only thing I had to change was a couple of the fingerings in the finger-pretzel section and I moved the tapping up to the 12th fret of the A string (the stretch was absolutely killing my hand for some reason). It sounds a little muddy, but I'll probably never get to play it out live so I'm just happy to be able to play the solo.
    Thanks!

    Hey Ben, I am not sure if you’re a huge fan of Steve and Randy. But I actually was able to contact Randy months before his death and asked if he and Steve could sign their cd for me. He was actually in the process of moving from the west coast to the east coast and actually took the time to write me a letter apologizing for the delay due to the move. He was such a classy guy. I received in the mail the signed cd by Steve and Randy, his letter and Randy’s bass pick. I actually have it on eBay. If interested. Love following your lessons. Very talented

    Hey Ben. Great video. One thing though on the "hard part" with the string skipping. From the Autograph video, it looks to me that at the very beginning of the run (second note from the top of the run), I think Steve is playing the B string on the 17th fret instead of the G string on the 21st. If not so be it, but it sure looks like it, and it for sure makes the run flow better playing it to me anyway. It's more of a sweep, and your index finger is already there from right before.

I struggle to get an even tone between the middle and third finger taps and I’ve tried some different combinations of compression and gain but I can’t seem to get a smooth response.
