How to assemble the "Small Swamp Runner Kit" on a 212cc Predator engine

- I've only seen one other small Swamp Runner Kit assembly video so I thought it'd be a good idea to do a step by step tutorial of my build. I included a speed test video at the end on the St. Johns River. Top speed ended up being 17 mph on medium choppy water. Like, comment, and Subscribe!

I'm in the middle of putting this exact kit on a boat I built. Thanks for the tips, especially re the kill switch and the 2x4 to convince the outer shaft to seat all the way.

If anyone is using this tutorial to install your swamp runner kit, FYI, at the 0:50 sec mark I said to tighten the jam nut towards the transom. What I meant to say was towards the wings on the wing bolts. Tightening towards the transom will not prevent the wing bolts from backing out. 😎👍

I would use Copper anti Seize I have had issue with the silver with Spark plugs It Dried like Glue and Don't Know why???

How's the fishing going ? How's the boat running ?
We've done some saltwater shore fishing this year but other than that we haven't had much time to spending fishing as life has just been absolutely crazy this year. Boat is running good though and is legal and water ready, but I have some trailer repairs to do before we can take it out again. Shouldn't be too long before we get back out on the water again.

is this just a standard swamp runner kit, or did you get the extended shaft?
Hey yeah it is the small kit, (not the mini) and it is the 85" shaft, which I believe is the standard with this kit. I didnt upgrade to the 100" shaft because I didnt think I would have to being my boat is a 1232 Jon boat. I'm glad i didn't. I could do without the extra 15"s unless I needed it. I am going to hop up this engine in the future and may need to upgrade to the 100" shaft if I start to out run the rooster tail but I dont think it will be a problem honestly. You know I really dont remember how much I paid for it. I know I got the engine for around $100. But you can only get the Swamp Runner kit new from www.mudmotorkits.com. I just checked and the small kit which this one is was about $500.00. 👊😎

Yes absolutely. This ones the small one but they make a mini one as well. The size swamp runner you get will depend on your engine size. Their website will have all the info you need to help you decide which one would be best for your application.

Sorry for the late response. That is called the gimbal.
Do you have to use grease?
Hey Justin! Yes sir absolutely. Yeah definitely don't skip this part or you will break it. The grease keeps everything lubricated and keeps it cool from the heat that friction generates. Plus a tub of grease like Im using in the video is only a few buck from the auto parts store 😎👍.

I can't really remember what I paid for it. I know I paid $100 for the 212cc engine and I think like $300-$400 maybe for the small swamp runner kit. I guess it would depend on what size kit your wanting. What size boat are you running?

Hi Max. No not right off hand but it is the 212cc predator from harbor freight which is a 6.5hp.
@@danielrichardsfishing8838 That is what we picked up as well but the model we purchased is known as the Hemi version. Putting together everything this week
at 16 and 17 mph what was your RPM's
Im not sure I never installed an RPM gauge on it, I wanted to but never did, but everything was stock when the video was made.

The reason Im asking is Im trying to decide what to do with my boat ; I have a 15ft john boat V-bottom . I like fishing in the stump fields and old Rice fields here in Moncks Corner SC ; The motor went a few years ago from too many times of over heating , I replaced it with a 5HP Briggs and Stratton outboard motor . It has a Rev Limiter set at 4500rpms and it wont get anywhere close to that maybe 3500. The boat wont even plane out
I was looking at long tail motor options and trying to decide which one to go with and I saw your video which is awesome by the way ,do you think yours would be powerful enough or is there another kit a step up or 2 that is available
Hey Gary sorry for such a late response brother. My boat is way smaller than yours its a 12 footer and I think 30-40" wide. I would definitely go with the medium swamp runner with a 10-13hp engine. I believe "JT Gatoring" has a good video on the medium swamp runner kit coupled with a 13hp predator engine. You should check that out.
