I once had a neighbor who constantly complained formally about me "watching the news loudly very early in the morning, 5 or 6am". I insisted at that time we were all asleep and definitely didn't watch the news like that. She kept complaining and said she "didn't believe me". Finally the office reviewed footage of our complex to see if they could hear it. It was coming from someone who would park outside her unit every morning in their truck and listen to talk radio 😑

We have this issue in my neighborhood, we have a totally mixed race block and for some reason some neighbors think the rest of us need to hear their genre of music starting at 7AM on a Sunday morning until 11PM. And it isn't just the white folks complaining!

I live in such a zone and I usually don't call the police for a noise violation til after 11pm if it's a weekend then 12am because I am pretty reasonable.

Amen!!!!! People complain so much to the cops for such random crap. Best thing about moving to Hawaii from Oregon? The cops aren't at our door all the time complaining about some random crap. Poor cops have so much more important stuff to be taking care of.

Me too, but alas… it’s a predominantly Latino neighborhood so not much in the way of Karens. When the cops do show up, it’s because some shit went down with one of the neighbors and everybody gets concerned. Nobody here is in the habit of calling them over the most minor inconveniences.

I'm a white transplant from KC who's been living in the Midwest the last 20 years. It's about as white bread as it gets out here.
I miss this music, (and REAL Mexican food too!) so on occasion, I just play this music as loud as I want, indoors, outdoors, in my car....because it's happy music.
And because I can. 😂

I had a Colombian neighbour once. He liked to play music like that. Early in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays. THAT WAS A DECLARATION OF WAR. I started to play VERY LOUD Tibetan chanting. A few times was enough. The man quickly understood that no Latin music meant no Tibetan chanting. I got my quiet mornings back.
Maybe just let people enjoy listening to their music instead of getting so angry? You could have simply asked him to turn it down or play it at a later time. So dramatic my god.

I'm Mexican and grew up in predominately white neighborhoods. Most white people were taught that being loud is considered rude, which is why a lot of white neighborhoods are quiet for the most part. Part of the reason why we never had gatherings at our house was because our extended family wanted to be themselves and didn't understand that our house was the worst place for them to be themselves because our neighbors will complain and call the cops.
Bro like half the people in my neighborhood are mexican, and like all my fam in some way, so like, expect music to be blasted and theres no complain from anybody, ppl are really chill here
